Why Get Married in Bamburgh?

Wondering where to get married? Here are some reasons to consider the beautiful Northumberland town of Bamburgh.

Its Amazing Beaches

With miles of white sandy beaches, Bamburgh makes a gorgeous backdrop for exchanging vows. Your guests will be able to relax among the dunes or take a boat out to the rugged Farne Islands, home to puffins, dolphins, and seals.

Its Historic Castles

Bamburgh has the most castles of any other county in England. The most famous of these, Bamburgh Castle, was built in the Middle Ages and dominates the Northumberland coastline. You can admire its towering turrets and vast fortresses as you stroll along the beach. You can also visit magnificent Alnwick Castle, which has been home to the Percy family for over 700 years. Both Downton Abbey and the Harry Potter films were partly filmed there. If you're brave, you could even explore Chillingham Castle, which features creepy dungeons and a real torture chamber.

Its Fun Attractions

As well as beaches and castles, Bamburgh has plenty more to entertain your guests. History fans will enjoy the Grace Darling Museum and the Church of Saint Aidan. If you're adventurous, you could try out wind surfing. Foodies will love the numerous high-end restaurants serving exquisite seafood, while others may be content just strolling along the beachfront and enjoying tea in the quaint cafés.

We opted for a small wedding and felt that Bamburgh Castle was the perfect setting. We were so happy to find that they could cater for a small wedding, but still provide the same incredible setting and service as a bigger wedding. Our Wedding Coordinator Naomi was so welcoming, responsive and answered all questions we had with no bother. The day was managed perfectly, no hiccups or stress and it was the most gorgeous setting! We were extremely happy with our wedding at Bamburgh Castle, and now we have somewhere stunning to go back to every year to celebrate!
