How to Tell a Hotel it's Your Honeymoon?

Some of the more confident among us will have no problem marching right up to the front desk and loudly declaring, "IT'S MY HONEYMOON!"

But if this just isn't you, fear not. There are a number of less upfront ways to tell your hotel it's your honeymoon such as sending a quick email or making a short phone call.

It's important to let your hotel know in advance, as this will give them to to prepare any complimentary extras, as well as offer any honeymoon packages or add-ons they may supply.

Hayley Baker from The Langham Hotel advises, "Simply let the hotel know in advance when making a booking that you are celebrating this momentous occasion with us and we would be glad to pull out all the stops and more to ensure you have an unforgettable stay."

Catrin Marks from The Harper, a residents-only boutique hotel with a private bar, spa, and a restaurant with a menu that changes daily, adds, "One option is to contact the hotel directly. You may find they offer their recommendations to shape your experience to get the best out of your stay – after all, this is a particularly special one."

Do Hotels Have Honeymoon Suites?

The words 'honeymoon suite' conjure up an image of luxury, romance and exclusivity - but are they becoming a thing of the past? Hayley says "It’s less common nowadays for hotels to have a room labelled as the honeymoon suite since most hotels have a portfolio of rooms and suites with different styles and features to suit all sorts of occasions and staying preferences."

Catrin says "Although it is common for hotels to have a specific honeymoon suite, the room may not be described as this online, and instead could be listed as the highest grade room available. If you’re unsure, it’s worth contacting the hotel directly to ensure you receive the best room they have to offer."

If you can’t decide on a honeymoon destination or are waiting a bit after your wedding, then you might want to consider a short mini-moon in the UK first. Check out our edit of the best places to mini-moon in the UK or our pick of the best mini-moon hotels in Scotland.
