With 10 bedrooms in the main house and 5 self-catering apartments allowing up to 40 guests to stay, your nearest and dearest can be close by throughout your time with us. If you are considering your ceremony here, you can choose from the beautiful gardens, meadow field, or if you prefer an indoor setting, we have a number of spaces within the house each with its own character, so you can have the perfect ceremony setting that's right for you.

Incredible venue
Roundthorn is a stunning venue, the food was lovely and served promptly. The staff are very welcoming and served with a smile. Roundthorn were flexible in accommodating a range of requests for our special day! I would definitely recommend this venue, especially Anouska she couldn't do enough for us and helped us to create the most amazing day!!

Best Wedding Venue
“Firstly, I want to say how grateful we are that we were able to have Roundthorn Country House for our wedding in the first place. We changed venue last minute due to unforeseen circumstances and what could have been a very stressful time, was made completely stress free by the wonderful team at Roundthorn.
Meini and Anouska were absolutely amazing in making sure our day was the most special day we could have ever imagined. Stunning venue and the food was spectacular! We are still getting lots of compliments from our guests saying how much they enjoyed the day and how organised the staff were.
We had hoped to have our ceremony in the beautiful stunning outside pergola/gazebo. However, the weather wasn’t on our side. Although, we can honestly say this didn’t affect our day in the slightest. The indoor ceremony room is just stunning. We couldn’t fault Roundthorn and will be forever grateful we got to have our special day there. We can not wait to return for all our anniversaries and special events. Roundthorn will always have a special place in our hearts.

Amazing wedding experience
The service from the team at Roundthorn was amazing. From our initial visit to the big day, we couldn’t have asked for more. Anouska was our wedding coordinator and she was brilliant - nothing was too much hassle - she had everything in hand and I knew I didn’t need to worry about anything on the day. The food was fantastic - our guests said it was some of the best they’d had at a wedding, and they were extremely complimentary of the staff, who were so friendly and efficient. We have such amazing memories of our day and couldn’t element Roundthorn enough. Thanks again for making our day so special.

The best day!
What can I say about Roundthorn and their incredible staff... From the initial contact to the wedding itself, they couldn't have made planning our day any easier- we didn't have to worry about a thing! So many people who came said it was the best wedding food they'd ever had, and the decor was beautiful. There were lots of personal touches/decor that we wanted for the day but never had time to sort them out- we left them with the staff the day before in a big box, and came in after the ceremony to discover everything had been arranged with such care and attention to detail. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone was so friendly. To top it off, value for money wise it was fantastic. You can pay so much these days for venues where you have to do everything yourself, when Roundthorn offer the full package for a very reasonable price! The accommodation was also perfect for all our family and friends who had travelled a long way, but being close to Penrith meant other people didn't have the issue of finding a place to stay in the middle of nowhere.
All in all, the most fun I've ever had and I would do it all again in a heartbeat! Thank you all so much!

The perfect venue!
I cant recommend The Roundthorn Country House enough from the first viewing of the venue we knew this was our venue. Anouska and Collette are so welcoming and professional as are all the staff at the Roundthorn. Nothing seemed too much and made what could have been the most stressful time of our lives effortless and enjoyable! Leading up to our big day Collette and Anouska would often check in on me and answer any questions I had. We went for a taster day and the food was amazing and this was no exception on our wedding day too which all our guests agreed they especially loved being able to chose from a starter and desert on the day. Our day could not have been better the whole team at Roundthorn made it perfect all my guests could not compliment the staff enough. The Roundthorn itself just has an amazing homely feeling to it, it is the perfect most gorgeous venue with the outside and inside options of ceremony both being beautiful. The grounds are amazing and the rooms were all perfect for our guests. The apartments were a big hit and meant we could make a full weekend of our big day. The Roundthorn won wedding venue of the year for Cumbria a week before our wedding and we are not surprised. We cant wait to visit for our anniversaries and only wish we could do it all again.

The most perfect day
From the minute we drive up to Roundthorn, we just knew it was going to be our venue. Then we met with Anouska, who was just amazing and we were certain it was for us! Anouska looked after us the whole time and was just incredible, as is the whole entire team. Nothing was too much of an ask for them, they made sure that everything we wanted became a reality.
The venue itself is just stunning. A perfect, cosy setting with everything you need all in one place. The views are beautiful and made for a gorgeous backdrop when we used the grounds for some outside photos!
The food was to die for, everyone agreed!! The amount of guests who told us how much of an amazing time they had, blew us away and that was all down to Roundthorn team!
If we could do it all again we would. We just can’t recommend them enough! 10/10 in every aspect!!

The perfect wedding venue!
From the moment my husband and I first saw Roundthorn Country House, we knew this was our wedding venue. It is absolutely beautiful inside and out and the views surrounding the area are breathtaking.
The attention to detail, organisation and professionalism was outstanding from our very first meeting with Anouska. From start to finish, it was clear we had chosen a great team to help us with our big day. All the team at Roundthorn are without a doubt the most friendly, approachable and helpful people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Nothing was too much to ask and they were always more than happy to answer any questions and offer advice if needed. They were utterly fabulous. Every aspect of the day was better than we could have ever dreamed of. Anouska and the team talked us through every step and kept us well informed throughout.
The food was delicious, we had so many amazing comments from our guests about the wedding breakfast and the buffet later in the evening. We couldn't fault it. They also gave the opportunity to do a menu tasting before hand which I would absolutely recommend. After testing the beef dinner it only made me more excited to have this on the day and the cheesecake is out of this world!
The venue has recently refurbished the rooms in the hotel and my goodness they look amazing! A perfect place for the guests to stay. I would also recommend utilising the apartments too if you can. We booked one of the two bed apartments to stay a few nights before and to get ready in on the morning. It was the perfect amount of space and really made the getting ready process so special.
We couldn't recommend the venue highly enough and we are so grateful to have found Roundthorn. We had the most perfect and beautiful wedding here beyond anything we could have imagined. Thank you all so much for everything!

A hidden gem in Cumbria
From the bar & kitchen staff, to the waiting on staff, to Anouska our brilliant wedding co-ordinator and the reception team the attention to detail, friendliness and helpfulness, the quality/presentation of the food, catering so efficiently for dietary needs from Kosher to Diabetics to an allergy to coriander, the room décor; even the fancy toilet paper – all was commented on by our guests as out of this world. The small touches mattered, and you went the extra mile in every way - I must mention staff supporting guests with dementia without being asked, booking taxis for visually impaired guests while serving a packed bar without any delay or complaint shows superb customer service. Our 130 guests have unanimously praised you and appreciated the challenging work and hours of planning/meetings/ prep that went in to make this day “a blast” and "the best wedding they have ever been to". The way the staff introduced themselves to the tables they were assigned to and looked after their "guests" was highly impressive. Everyone felt special and every need was catered for. At very short notice we moved the speeches from before the meal to afterwards - it didn't delay the meal service at all. I was amazed and delighted!

Your wedding packages are flexible, inclusive, easy to understand and excellent value - you worked with us within our budget to give us the best day and night possible. Accomodation : check in for guests travelling from Bristol/London - you organised early check ins and ensured the rooms were ready. The rooms (everywhere in fact) was spotlessly clean with beautiful decor.

Brilliant wedding venue!
The Roundthorn Country House Hotel is a brilliant place to get married. The staff are all amazing, nothing is too much trouble. Anouska and her team are so supportive every step of planning your big day, always there to answer any questions you may have. They were excellent and can't recommend them enough!!!!

The Roundthorn Country House, Penrith.
Our wedding took place at The Roundthorn Country House, Penrith. I can honestly say choosing this venue was outstanding , from our first encounter with Anouska (our co-ordinator) we were given lots of useful information and given the chance to make our day our own. We booked Friday 19th August, we had all 10 double bedrooms for us to choose the guests who stayed over. We had the option of an outdoor service in the metal gazebo, adorned with flowers, with red carpet and semi circles of white chairs, we had the rings delivered by a Harris Hawk, the falconer (Cumberland Bird of Prey Center) who also brought 5 other birds for the guests entertainment, which were enjoyed by everyone there. The garden provided the most beautiful backdrop for the photographs,(taken by Lee Benson Photography, Penrith) with it's elevated site overlooking the lake land fells. The table settings and room layout was perfect. Everyone commented on how good the meal was, and the whole day was flawless and ran so smoothly. The staff were so smart & professional, and made us feel at ease from the moment we arrived. Their resident DJ (A Touch of Class) was the perfect choice for the evening entertainment and played the right balance of music to keep everybody dancing all night long. Overall 5 star venue with a 5 star service and would highly recommend for anyone planning their perfect day.
