A massive thank you to Ed, family and all the team at Starlings for making our wedding day absolutely perfect! Ed really went above and beyond to make sure our special day was everything we hoped it could be (and more!). From the get go, Ed was incredibly accommodating and flexible - working with us to understand our vision and customise the venue, whilst designing bespoke food and cocktail menus for nearly a hundred people. The whole team were absolutely phenomenal and the venue is so versatile - seamlessly transitioning from summer cocktail reception, to restaurant, to party vibes. The food and drinks were delicious, the service exemplary and all our guests left happy and singing Starlings praises! The Ragged Cot is an extraordinary venue that truly delivers on all fronts. From the incredible ambiance to the fantastic food and drinks, every aspect of this establishment exudes excellence. The staff go above and beyond, being extremely helpful and friendly, adding a personal touch to the experience. Not only is the Ragged Cot a culinary delight, but it also offers great value for money. I can't recommend this place enough - it's a must-visit for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

We would like to say a big thank you to Lizzie and the team for hosting our wedding reception. The venue and the food were excellent and enjoyed by all. We had a great day. We stayed for our wedding night and agree that the rooms are large, clean and comfortable. Fantastic all round.

The White Horse was the perfect location for our wedding. A lovely country pub which provided us with all that we wanted for a small family occasion. The food was of top quality and the nothing was too much trouble with flexibility all the way. Plenty of room for an evening party in the main bar with a band. A great venue for a country wedding which has a lovely garden. A

Everything we required was provided at this one venue, facilities inside and outside were excellent. One of the owners was qualified to marry us in the beautifully maintained garden. The food was excellent and head chef talked through the requirements for the menus throughout the day. Staff were friendly and attentive catering for nearly 90 guests throughout the day. The outside bar and courtyard was a hit and logistics for tables and evening disco ran like clockwork. Big thank you to all at the Horse and Groom for providing the perfect venue for our perfect day.

We couldn't have had a better wedding at No. 38! Ben and Alasdair were personable and everything was tailored to our exact requirements. Our wedding didn't feel like a venue churning out another wedding, it felt like it was ours and a truly special occasion. The day itself was relaxed with incredible food and drinks, and the venue, along with the park across the road, provided a stunning backdrop for everything. Another bonus was that the venue was private, with all rooms for the wedding party, meaning the next morning we had a celebratory breakfast with our family that had stayed. We can't thank No. 38 enough!

We renewed our wedding vows in September 2022 and had our reception at Foxys Den, after we had a horrendous wedding day in a different and very expensive venue 6 years before. It really was the best day. More than we could have wished for. We were originally booked in April 2020 but covid put a stop to that, so we put it off until September 2022. Nothing was too much trouble at all. All of our guests commented on how amazing the venue was, how lovely the decorations were, but the biggest talking point was the food! We had guests who had experienced afternoon tea at the Ritz hotel in London who said the afternoon tea at Foxys Den was better. Honestly I can’t recommend this venue and staff enough. It was so quiet as well. Plus the mini bus hire in the evening was an absolute god send. We wouldn’t change anything at all.

We had chosen the Oyster & Fish House for our wedding long before our event in June 2021, but the pandemic had other ideas. The staff coped with three changes of date and of course changes in numbers with equanimity and patience. When our date was finally confirmed, we had already had a registry office ceremony, so had to come up with an alternative 'entertainment' for our guests. Ever ready for new ideas, Jo and her team rigged up a small outdoor theatre so that we could have speeches and our own personal vows on a small stage in full view of our 30 friends and family members. They even rigged up a link to my Mum in her nursing home so she could enjoy the ceremony too! Mark and Jo worked out a menu with us beforehand which would fit with our budget but which would wow our guests, including plenty of Hix Fixes (a cocktail to really get the party going) and Lyme Bay Reserve sparkling wine to accompany the cuttlefish croquettes and cheese and pickled walnut canapés, all served on the terrace. The starters and main course, all served by the wonderful and highly competent team, were an extraordinary mix of oysters, smoked salmon, asparagus and mixed beets. Mains consisted of mixed fish and shellfish and the star of the show: Hannan's mighty marbled sirloin steak. It was all SUPERB. And I shall remember the Pavlova with Chocolate Mousse with Temperley Cherries till the day I die. We will always remember our special day as filled with light, laughter and love. All our guest were absolutely stunned by the view and the restaurant décor, and we had the time of our lives. We would like to particularly commend Mark and the catering team for a highly memorable lunch and Jo and her team for accommodating all our quirky requirements and even last minute changes to the seating plan. This is a restaurant team that works (in all senses of the word), and we cannot recommend them highly enough. They have a foolproof plan that means nothing gets overlooked, and their calm assurance means that last minute nerves are quickly smoothed away. The Oyster & Fish House is somewhere we will revisit many times, and will recapture our very happy memories of the most special of days. Thanks to all the staff!

We are still talking about the food at our wedding and have been back twice!
