AWARD-WINNING WEDDINGS
Set in the rural village of Mark, the White Horse Inn is a cosy, characterful, award-winning country pub specialising in relaxed weddings. Couples choose us for our warm atmosphere, quality food, flexible spaces and the kind of personal service only a small, dedicated team can deliver. Whether you imagine an intimate indoor ceremony or a lively garden celebration, the pub and grounds are yours exclusively for the day, giving you complete privacy and space to shape the celebration your way.
We’re particularly known for our food. Every dish is prepared in-house using quality local ingredients, from hearty pub classics to bespoke menus and handmade desserts. Many couples tell us that their guests still talk about the food years later - and that means a great deal to us.
Our gardens are another highlight. Lovingly maintained and full of character, they provide a beautiful backdrop for outdoor ceremonies, photos, drinks and long summer afternoons with your guests.
Who We Are
Behind the pub is the McKenzie family - a small, close-knit team with over 120 years of combined experience in hospitality, weddings and fine dining. Because we run the venue ourselves, we’re involved in every detail from the moment you enquire until the last guest leaves. Nothing is handed off, nothing is missed and nothing falls through the cracks.
Mike (dad) is our Head Chef, bringing decades of culinary experience and a passion for great, honest food. Chrissy (mum) manages front of house, ensuring the smooth running of your day. Harri, my sister, is our dessert chef, creating everything from signature puddings to bespoke wedding cakes. And I’m Callum, overseeing the direction, planning and coordination of every wedding we host.
Being family-run means your wedding isn’t just another booking in the calendar. It’s something we genuinely care about, and we take the time to think through every moment so you can relax and enjoy a seamless, personal and memorable day.

Meet the team
I’ve grown up around the White Horse Inn, so hospitality has always been a big part of my life. After university, I started out here as Head of Operations before moving back to my university city of Liverpool to become Head of Sales, Marketing & Reservations for a hotel group with properties across Liverpool, Manchester, Preston, Belfast and Ibiza. During that time, I looked after a mix of venues, from lively party hotels to beautiful wedding destinations - and learned what makes each celebration run smoothly from the very first enquiry to the day itself.
When my sister Harri went on maternity leave, I came back home to help, and before long I stepped into the role of Managing Director. I now oversee every part of the business, from our kitchen and menus to our long-term plans for the inn’s future. It’s very much a family affair - my dad, Mike, is our Head Chef, my mum, Chrissy, manages front of house, accounts and ordering, and Harri has returned as our dessert chef, creating everything from our signature puddings to wedding cakes for our couples. She also does a fabulous job tending to our vast gardens year-round, keeping them in tip-top shape.
We’re all incredibly proud to run a true family business and we pour that same care and attention into every wedding we host. If there’s one thing people always remember, it’s the attention to detail and the food - and hearing guests talk about it years later is what makes it all worthwhile.
