Gote Barn is a wedding venue located just outside Lewes in Sussex. Nestled away in the heart of the East Sussex countryside, it would make a truly idyllic venue to host the wedding day. Owned and run by the Craig family for over 75 years, Gote Barn also produces unpasteurized milk from their herd of Friesians. Along with this, they produce excellent, naturally-reared lamb grazed on the meadows near Glynde, at the foot of the Downs. The Grade II Listed barn with high vaulted ceilings has been around since around the 1600s, with many of the barn's original features still intact. Situated right in the heart of the Downs in the beautiful Sussex countryside, part of the Glyndebourne Estate, Gote Barn is 5 minutes from the center of Lewes and 20 minutes drive from Brighton.
Facilities and Capacity
Perfect for a beautiful countryside wedding, the barn's rustic and original charm is the ideal background for the big day, with a capacity for up to 140 seated guests for the day and up to 180 in the evening. With a lawn for drinks & canapes, surrounded by the most stunning views, the barn is perfect if you are looking for a venue to personalise and bring to life once again! Newlyweds will have exclusive hire and the chance to hold their wedding in a unique and charming venue none of their guests have been to before.
Services Offered
Venue Hire includes 6ft round tables and matching chairs, brand new toilet building, wooden bar, raised stage, car parking facilities, outdoor drinks reception space, and fairy lights decoration.
Food
You are free to bring in caterers of your choosing, as we aren't tied to any food or drinks suppliers. We can send you a list of the suggested local caterers who have worked here in the past, with very good feedback. If it's a paid bar as opposed to a free bar then you would need to hire someone to run it and we can support you with finding someone to do this. We don't charge any corkage.

Incredible!
Incredible value, stunning location
Gote Barn is everything you could want for a rustic barn wedding. Will and Polly were amazing hosts. They were easy to contact, made themselves available for all our needs and had some great suggestions for decorations, vendors and other wedding logistics.
Polly was even able to arrange an extra quiet space and a baby changing table as we had lots of young children attending.
Gote Barn is in a magical setting with some amazing photo opportunities. The barn is already beautifully adorned with lights but there is also lots of opportunity to decorate it to make it personal to you. We made bunting out of strips of material which worked very well.
Despite being a genuine old barn, there is good disabled access with a paved path and a disabled toilet.
We also felt that it was very good value for a wedding venue - more weather resistant than a marquee and more customisable than a hotel.

We would like to say a massive thank you for everything that was done to make our wedding at Gote barn last Saturday the most amazing day of our lives!
Through planning, Marc and Sara were so wonderful at keeping us in the loop, helping us plan the different stages and answering questions promptly when they arose!
On the day (and the day before) we were supported by the amazing Event manager Katie. Nothing was too much for her, she assured us the day before that everything would be done for us and sure enough… we didn’t lift a finger all day! Some of our guests even had their dress sewn up after a dress disaster by one of the lovely staff who had sewing kits on them! Our guests were taken care of, individual needs catered for and all our guests comments on how amazing Gote barn was and his incredible the food and staff were! The Mediterranean feast went down an absolute treat…especially on the hot weather we had! Everyone asked how we had found this amazing place!
A big thank you to Will and Polly who own the barn. It was so wonderful having it as a place that didn’t feel like a corporate place or that we were the fifth people having a wedding there that week! We felt thought about!
There aren’t the words to say how much we loved having our wedding at Gote Barn with Circa.
