The Great Thatched Barn at Falmer Court is a historic wedding venue situated just outside of Brighton, England, in East Sussex. The venue is nestled within a large, idyllic estate where you will enjoy breathtaking views of the rolling countryside. Combined with the centuries-old barn and picturesque gardens, this property is the perfect place to host your momentous occasion.

Facilities and Capacity

The Great Thatched Barn at Falmer Court is drenched in romance and retro charm. The barn features cathedral ceilings, timber cross beams, and a thatch roof that will transport you back in time. A canopy of fairy lights adorns the ceiling, adding to the barn's magicality and romance. The Great Thatched Barn delivers the perfect atmosphere and stages the ideal setting for a wedding, accommodating up to 200 seated guests, or the space can be compartmentalised for smaller numbers and weddings.
You can host your ceremony inside the barn, or, if you prefer a religious ceremony, in the village Anglican church. Just a stone's throw away, St Laurence, and the local vicar, will welcome you to this sanctuary to tie the knot.
You can also exchange your vows outside in the Formal Gardens in front of a fountain surrounded by the spectacular greenery of the South Downs, with the impressive Falmer Court House in the backdrop.
It can seat as many as 200 guests on the venue's stylish, loop-back Bentwood chairs or can also be compartmentalised for smaller numbers.
Couples and guests can enjoy drinks receptions in our spectacular grounds, where we also provide a stretch tent, perfect for shelter during hot summer days and cool autumn nights.
Wedding breakfasts can be held in The Great Thatched Barn, where guests will experience the wow factor of this magnificent building, now set and dressed for true romance. Or if you prefer a more alfresco dining option, enjoy your meal under our gorgeous stretch tent and watch the sun go down over the glorious South Downs National Park. Falmer Court provides beautiful oak loop-back Bentwood chairs and round wooden tables for the wedding breakfast.
Lights dimmed, the party starts in The Great Thatched Barn, thanks to either a live band or a DJ taking to our elevated stage and turning up the volume so you and your guests can dance the night away.

Along with loop-back Bentwood chairs, Falmer Court will provide round tables, a stretch tent with furniture for your celebration, a fairy-lit canopy, soft furnishings within the barn, an eclectic mix of props and styling, toilets, a bar, and much more. For catering, they work exclusively with Circa Events, a company that provides gourmet dishes and exquisite planning services. These caterers maximise sustainability and strive to make a positive impact on the planet. The in-house team runs the bar and serves British brands whenever possible in order to support local businesses and reduce their carbon footprint.
