We got married last week and Circa did the food and event management for us. They were always super helpful and accommodating and even considered some last minute changes to table plans. The food was really good and all guests loved the late night bites! We would especially thank them for supporting us with coordinating the ceremony and the order of the day so we could have the best time. Highly recommend.

Disappointing Experience with Circa Events at Our Wedding

We had high hopes for Circa Events as our wedding caterers, especially after the promise of a unique and relaxed BBQ-style meal at LongFurlong Barn. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations.

From the outset, there were issues with the tasting. We had chosen a BBQ for our wedding meal, but at the tasting we were only offered 8 out of the 20 BBQ items available. The rest of the tasting consisted of food that either wasn’t part of our package or wasn’t what we wanted. This meant we had to make our final selections based largely on guesswork, which was disappointing given how important food is to a wedding day.

We were also sold the idea that the BBQ would be cooked in the courtyard to create that authentic, relaxed BBQ atmosphere. However, despite only light rain in the morning, Circa Events made the decision to cook the food out the back, away from view. This meant none of our guests realised it was a BBQ at all, and the atmosphere we envisioned was lost entirely.

The evening food was advertised as being served “Hawker style,” which to us (and many others) means freshly cooked and served to order. In reality, the food was pre-cooked and simply laid out on tables behind the dance floor for guests to pick up. Again, the execution did not match what we were sold.

During the meal, wine bottles were left empty on tables and guests weren’t offered refills. We, as the bride and groom, had to personally ask—twice—for our guests to be topped up. This should not have been our responsibility on the day.

The most upsetting part came after the wedding when we discovered that Circa had thrown away our wedding cake and sentimental cake topper without asking us. This was a deeply personal and irreplaceable item that we obviously would have wanted to keep. Despite several attempts to discuss this and other issues, we were met with argumentative responses. It took over a month for them to even admit they had discarded the cake, adding unnecessary stress at a time when we should have been enjoying newlywed life.

In summary, our experience with Circa Events was disappointing. We felt misled, let down, and ultimately disrespected, both in the handling of our wedding day and in the way our concerns were dealt with afterwards. We would not recommend them to other couples planning their special day.

We had an excellent experience with Circa and would highly recommend. All the staff were lovely and the food was delicious!!

Circa not only delivered superb food but they helped guide us through the whole day. Their project mangement is second to none. I would not hesitate to recommend them or use them again for any event.

We would like to say a massive thank you for everything that was done to make our wedding at Gote barn last Saturday the most amazing day of our lives!

Through planning, Marc and Sara were so wonderful at keeping us in the loop, helping us plan the different stages and answering questions promptly when they arose!

On the day (and the day before) we were supported by the amazing Event manager Katie. Nothing was too much for her, she assured us the day before that everything would be done for us and sure enough… we didn’t lift a finger all day! Some of our guests even had their dress sewn up after a dress disaster by one of the lovely staff who had sewing kits on them! Our guests were taken care of, individual needs catered for and all our guests comments on how amazing Gote barn was and his incredible the food and staff were! The Mediterranean feast went down an absolute treat…especially on the hot weather we had! Everyone asked how we had found this amazing place!

A big thank you to Will and Polly who own the barn. It was so wonderful having it as a place that didn’t feel like a corporate place or that we were the fifth people having a wedding there that week! We felt thought about!

There aren’t the words to say how much we loved having our wedding at Gote Barn with Circa.
