We chose the Ghillie Dhu for our big day and we have to say they didn't disappoint. It is a fantastic setting, something that so many of our guests who were visiting the venue for the first time commented on. And they had everything set up beautifully...although we must give a mention to All Wrapped Up who were responsible for the added extras, and to Kris Soul Photography who captured the whole day, and brought out the best features of the Ghillie Dhu when it's set up for a wedding. Obviously, there will be little unplanned events that happen on the day but the staff were great and took it in their stride. The pre-wedding taster session gave us an idea of how good the food is and on the day it really was excellent and greatly appreciated by our guests. We would certainly recommend the Ghillie Dhu

The Ghillie Dhu hosted our wedding and it was amazing. The service was perfect and the day ran so smoothly. Tyla and Maddy (our wedding coordinators) made sure that we were happy and everything was taken care of. The food was excellent and all of our guests enjoyed the day.

We had an amazing time at our wedding in The Ghillie Dhu, we honestly could not have chosen a better venue. Amy, our wedding coordinator, was fantastic. We can’t thank her enough for all the pre-wedding work and for all that she did on the day. It went so smoothly, we were so impressed with the staff working that day and many of our guests said it was one of the best weddings they’d been to. The canapés were very tasty, the wedding breakfast was commended by all our guests and the buffet was outstanding. Great testimonial right there from our guests alone. Honestly, when we look back at the photos and see how good the Ghillie Dhu stands out is amazing. The hall is so versatile, when the drapes are pulled around the organ pipes it makes for a magical, intimate ceremony and then when the hall is set for the wedding breakfast and reception it is breathtaking. We 100% made the right choice of venue, we really could not recommend it highly enough.

From the get-go, Kirsty was nothing other than Out of this World in every aspect of the role. Her communication, organisation and general enthusiasm for every detail kept our levels of confidence at the highest level - right from our first meeting right through until after the day had been and gone.

Kirsty’s passion for perfection and sheer professionalism kept us feeling great - small amendments required on the day which may have been seen as a big deal were completed discreetly and with such finesse that it would have gone completely unnoticed to anyone who was unaware. From the moment we stepped into the breath-taking auditorium space, we knew the Ghillie Dhu was the one for us!

Being a ‘Pinterest bride’, I had so many bespoke options I wanted to incorporate into our day, and from start to finish nothing was ever a trouble. From the hiring of the gold chairs to match the colour scheme, to the ‘Prosecco and Peroni’ reception, the bespoke food options to the ‘Mexican Nacho Bar’ in the evening. You offered us an amazing package as it was, but by going above and beyond, you helped make our day so personal to us.

My partner and I cannot recommend the Ghillie Dhu enough as a wedding venue choice. Our day was a smashing success, all thanks to Kirsty, the co-ordinator, and her service team. After several meetings with Kirsty to organise the details of our big day, my partner and I trusted we could put the wedding entirely into her capable hands, so we could sit back and enjoy. Kirsty and her team at the Ghillie Dhu seamlessly moved the day from one stage to the next without us having to worry about a single thing. Kirsty and the staff were highly punctual, friendly, and professional. The food was delicious, the venue looked gorgeous, and our guests raved for weeks about how much fun they had. Our wedding day at the Ghillie Dhu was, in all sincerity, the best day of our lives, and we will never forget it. We are so grateful to Kirsty and the staff for taking such great care of us and our guests.

We had our wedding reception at Ghillie Dhu. We searched many venues in Edinburgh for our wedding reception, but found that Ghillie Dhu could provide us with the bespoke style wedding package that we wanted. From our first enquiry into Ghillie Dhu right through to our final contact after the wedding, the level of customer service was superb. The venue itself is spectacular with amazing period features, so naturally our photographer had a field day! So many of our guests commented to us at how beautifully the venue had been lit and decorated for our special day. There was ample bar staff to accommodate our 130 guests, and the food served was incredible. We opted for a hog roast, and even I went back for seconds it was that good! Our wedding/event manager was fantastic, she organised everything perfectly and tended to our every need (including my flat shoes hidden under my seat!) We were made to feel very special, and could not have wished for any more. In my eyes, Ghillie Dhu deserves every wedding award under the sun and I look forward to hear how they do at The Scottish Wedding Awards!”

The venue
What can you say about the Ghillie Dhu? The venue is utterly breathtaking. Truly one of a kind. My husband and I moved to Australia a few years ago but decided to come home and have a traditional Scottish wedding. We couldn't have asked for a more atmospheric venue. The whole building oozes drama, from the classic organ to the vaulted ceilings with candled chandeliers. Our guests were blown away and we received nothing but compliments.

The food
The food. Just wow! Often at weddings, the food is a bit of a let down. This was not the case with the Ghillie Dhu. We had a delicious 4 course dinner which included; wild mushroon and goats cheese tart; cullen skink; beef wellington and pavlova. Our tradional scottish supper of haggis and stovies went down a storm with our guests.

The staff.
From the very first dealings with the lovely staff at the Ghillie Dhu, you know you are in good hands. They just managed everything for us. With living abroad this was especially appreciated. They organised the most wonderful ceilidh band, DJ and piper. We had some unique requests that were managed seamlessly. Katie, our coordinator on the day, could not have been more helpful or professional.

I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the Ghillie Dhu to another couple.

My husband and I took one look at the Ghillie Dhu and immediately knew it was exactly the kind of place we were looking for in a venue for our wedding and reception. We never looked anywhere else. We knew that we wanted a rustic feel to our wedding, and the theme was Scottish tartan and heather, so for us it was an easy choice.

From the very beginning of the planning process, we were made to feel special. There was no favour too big or too small for the team to take care of. We always spoke with our wedding coordinator and had regular meetings with her, as well as emails when we had further questions to ask. She was professional, enthusiastic and efficient; everything about the Ghillie Dhu spoke of their reliability and their warmth.

On the day of our wedding everything ran like clockwork. Even the final details, like ensuring our heather confetti was passed out to the guests. At no point did we have to ask twice - sometimes we didn't have to ask at all. It was as if every eventuality had already been considered and dealt with to ensure that we didn't worry about a thing. We couldn't thank the Ghillie Dhu enough for their kindness and hospitality.

More than anything, it made the perfect backdrop to our day. The venue is so versatile and is stunning with its architectural splendour and floor space for the evening but ability to make an intimate space for the ceremony. They had recently acquired a garden in which we could take official photographs, which offered an alternative to the beautiful indoor photographs taken throughout the ceremony and evening.

I would just like to say how fantastic our wedding reception was from start to finish. The guests, especially the ones from England were astounded by the beauty and presentation of the room, the attention to detail was perfect the waiting staff promptly brought and removed meals when neede. The bar was well staffed meaning no or little queues for the bar. Katie you did a fab job organising everything and would always accommodate when plans changed so a huge thank you to you. The D.J was great, again ready to take requests and was very approachable. I have been in touch with my photographer who has many great photos of the venue. Once again I would highly recommend this venue a first class experience for a very reasonable price and my guests can not wait to visit the Ghillie Dhu again
