About
Brackenthwaite Farm is a fabulous site of ten acres set within the beautiful surroundings of the Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape, just a short distance south of the Lake District.
Within its grounds are four self-catering cottages that together accommodate up to 18 people, including The Dairy, which is superb sleep-two property for the wedding couple with mezzanine bedroom and the most comfortable superking sized bed, incredible views towards the Lake District fells, a wood burning stove, magical water well feature set into the ground that lights up at night, and sumptuous bathroom with mood lighting and underfloor heating.
Each property is furnished, decorated, and maintained to a high standard, and all are located within close proximity to one another and the main facilities on the farm, making them ideally suited for your nearest and dearest.
Brackenthwaite Farm offers wedding packages with a minimum of two-night stays so that you all get time to relax and enjoy what is available onsite.
The Long Barn is perhaps where you will spend most of your time together. This is our converted barn space that can be setup how you would best like it, whether that's for a ceremony for up to 45 people, a meal for up to 80 people, or a party space for 100 people.
With large bi-folding doors, The Long Barn opens on to The Courtyard, which provides secure additional outdoor space for you and your guests. You may like to have seating here for your guests sit and talk, a marquee or tipi, or maybe arrange for some entertainment or even use this space for food and/or drinks vans to be stationed here. With full flexibility at the farm, you could have your ceremony in The Courtyard if that's what you would prefer.
Beyond The Courtyard is The Rose Garden, which is abundant with colour from spring to autumn. Sit here among the natural beauty while you listen to birds singing and nature doing its thing. In here you wil also find a wood fired pizza oven that is available for you and your guests to use during your stay with us. Perhaps on the first night you and your closest family and friends may like to have some fun making your own pizzas while catching up and sharing some drinks while enjoying the changing of colours with the setting sun.
Adjacent to The Rose Garden is The Orchard, with fruit trees shouldering a grassed pathway around the 2 1/2 acre perimeter. Should you or any of your guests have children or dogs, this is the place for exercise and fun. A play area with climbing frame, swings, slide, and trampoline is tucked away in one corner, allowing children to play freely in a safe and fully secure space while also not detracting from what the grown-ups might want to do instead. For dogs, there is room to run around play fetch, and make use of the variety of balls, throwers, and other toys made available here.
Should you be looking to have a larger wedding celebration, The Orchard is large enough to accommodate a tipi structure that could seat 180 people, and we work closely with a company who can help you choose the right tipi for your special occasion. Come evening with the setting sun and the twinkling of stars, you can gather around the in-ground fire pit to enjoy the crackle of a real fire while taking your merriment into the early hours beneath a canopy of dancing lights.
And as if that wasn't already enough, Brackenthwaite Farm have some pet farm animals on site that will love to interact with you. Two pet sheep, two goats, and two alpacas. Four miniature pigs, hens, ducks, and geese. Most of which are named (when you get up to thirty hens, it's difficult to keep finding names for them!) and all are great characters who will add to your overall experience at the farm. If you want to dial things up a notch more, you might like the idea of having your wedding rings delivered to you by alpaca or pig, and have a release of white doves once you say "I do".
