We couldn’t have asked for anyone better than Richard for being there on our wedding day capturing all the small moments amongst the big ones. He is such a great presence and energy to have around you and we felt so comfortable with him when emotions were high. I was worried I’d feel awkward having lots of photos taken but meeting Richard to have the pre-wedding chat put a lot of that at ease and, when it came to the day, it was like he was one of our friends coming to our wedding who was there from start to finish. Richard just naturally brings a calming and fun energy that makes it really easy to be around him.

The photos Richard took of our wedding are honestly incredible - we both looked through them and it was like being transported back to the day. He has captured so many subtle interactions and looks, both amongst our guests as well as between us as a couple. Looking through the photos made us feel all the love from our wedding again, it’s such a special feeling. When we’ve showed them to guests, they’ve said the same thing too!

The only hard thing is that Richard has taken so many incredible shots that we have so many to choose from - we said to him that we’ll need to have wallpaper made to have all the ones on the walls that we loved. Choosing a few to have frames feels almost impossible - it’s a pretty good problem to have. Richard has entirely nailed his profession and love for what he does.

Basically, I have nothing but good things to say. We are extremely glad we booked Richard as our photographer and I’m confident anyone looking for a photographer would be just as over the moon having him there as we were. We have so much love for Richard for capturing such beautiful moments that keep the memories alive for a lifetime. Book him. You won’t regret it.

What can I say about Richard? We couldn't have asked for a better wedding photographer. From the start Richard put us at ease and felt like an old friend. He was so friendly from the first call, talking us through everything and asking all the right questions to get to know us.

He was a calming presence in the week before the wedding when stress was VERY high, telling us not to worry and that all was in hand.

On the day, he was everywhere and yet seamlessly part of it all. I realised that other than my now husband, he was probably the person I spent the most time with on our wedding day and it was a pleasure. Rather than feeling like we had a stranger following us around, it felt like we had a mate keeping us upbeat and calm whilst getting some snaps. He was flexible with time and what we needed and was just a joy to be around.

Now, the other important bit - the pictures! They are fabulous. We didn't want endless static group shots and to spend the whole day lining people up. We wanted a genuine capture of the day and that's exactly what we got. There are so many great shots of all of our guests and even us! We are not a naturally photogenic couple and Richard managed to make us comfortable enough to get some good ones - not cheesy or staged.

I honestly couldn’t recommend Richard more — he was exceptional, and will add so much to any wedding or event.

Richard has been an incredible person to work with throughout our wedding planning! He’s easy to get along with and extremely knowledgable and professional, not just with the camera but also when it comes to coordinating between the vendors, making sure you and the guests feel comfortable and guiding you through the wedding planning and the day. He showed up to the venues ahead of time to scout for good spots for us to have a first look, worked with our videographer to make the whole day as smooth as possible and ensured were always running on schedule even when hiccups and delays inevitably popped up. When we received the photos, we were completely blown away by just how talented he is with ensuring the settings are spot-on each time and finding the best lighting and composition for each shot! We re-live the magic every time we look back at our photos, enjoying especially the ones from behind the scenes we missed on the wedding day, for example moments as we were getting ready or when the guests were starting to arrive. We could not have found a better photographer for our wedding and anyone would be lucky to have him capture your day!!!

Asking Richard to be part of our wedding day was by far our best decision! He somehow managed to bring calm and energy and know exactly what we needed and wanted before we even knew ourselves. Everyone said how wonderful he was and the photos incredible. Even the most camera shy were at ease around Richard and we now have some treasured photos of such a happy day. Richard was such a joy to have at our wedding! We are quite an introverted bunch, but he made all our guests feel at ease and brought amazing energy. On the day, he ensured he photographed both my husband and I getting prepared, all the key group photos as well as couple shots. He gave excellent direction – whilst making sure the photos were candid – which is precisely what we wanted.

The photographer is one of the most important suppliers you can choose for your day. You spend more of the day with them than anyone else and we’re so glad to have had Richard with us on June 3rd at Prior Park in Bath.
From helping orchestrate family photos whilst navigating guest politics for us, to capturing shots I couldn’t have even imagined being in our final photos, he checked all the boxes for us. Where do we start?! Richard is a fantastic documentary photographer, and the photos he did of our wedding were stunning, really capturing the joy of the day! After scoping out the venue, he had a clear vision of what he wanted to capture for couples shots, but also took our wishes into account. Not only this, Richard went above and beyond on the day by managing other suppliers and timings when things unexpectedly changed, and he was really unobtrusive for our guests. This took a lot of burden off our shoulders and really meant we could just enjoy the day.
Communication before and after was easy and he’s very responsive. We can’t recommend Richard highly enough, you’d be lucky to have him at your wedding!

Where to even begin... Richard photographed our wedding at Pembroke Lodge in August this year and was just incredible from the start to the end of our wedding journey. He is so much more than just a photographer! Navigated us through planning in a pandemic, was so understanding when we made the decision to postpone, recommended other suppliers he had worked with (who were also amazing) and knew our venue inside out which was such a big help. I am so pleased that we also decided to do a pre wedding shoot. It gave us a chance to really get to know each other and feel a bit more comfortable in front of the camera before the big day. On our wedding day itself Richard could not have done more to help things go smoothly and keep us calm! He helped us keep to schedule while making sure we had time to get the photos we wanted, all while dealing with a couple of slightly over zealous family and friends with cameras of their own. We were so happy with Richard as our wedding photographer, from when we first spoke he made us feel at ease, being very friendly and approachable, and we are delighted with his photos. He really captured every element of the day, the people, the fun and the enjoyment, and lots of things we didn't get a chance to notice ourselves. We also appreciate his post shoot editing style, being understated and really documenting the day in the colors and tones we saw them.

We had a pre-wedding shoot to get ourselves more comfortable with how the process would work, he was very flexible and traveled to a location of our choosing, which made it feel very personal. This pre-shoot made the wedding day run more smoothly as we knew what to expect and it was great to get to know him and feel relaxed with having our photos taken. Over the past year or so we’ve had the absolute pleasure of having Richard Murgatroyd as our wedding photographer.
