Kate and Gareth met at a mutual friend’s wedding. After a brief introduction during the champagne reception, Gareth was so impressed with her he broken the golden wedding rule – he touched the seating plan and switched the place cards over so he could sit by Kate!
In 2014, the couple spent Easter in the Lake District in a cottage with Kate’s family and Gareth’s son, Lewis. Their Easter Sunday ritual includes a walk to the pub and a roast lunch, followed by an Easter egg hunt in the garden. Gareth placed an engagement ring in an egg and hid it, which was a fabulous surprise for Kate – even more so when her dad nearly found the ring first!
Gareth works in Dubai a lot so he picked up the ring on one of his trips over there. He chose a diamond solitaire, displayed on a band studded with more diamonds.
The couple joked about having a ‘crash wedding’ – they were keen to tie the knot as soon as possible. They found their perfect venue in November and booked their wedding to take place just six months later.
