As varied as the geography, topography and climate of the country are, so are its sights. A honeymoon in Mexico should include its capital city. Despite its outstretched nature, traffic congestion, and relatively high level of smog pollution, it is the seat of government and the cultural and spiritual heart of the country. You’ll also find a variety of museums to marvel at, including the National Museum of Anthropology, the Templo Mayor Museum, the National Art Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art. The historic center of Mexico City is a UNESCO world heritage site containing many historic landmarks of the city including the Constitution Plaza, and shouldn’t be missed on your honeymoon in Mexico.

While there will likely be too many options to choose from during your honeymoon in Mexico, the following list will get you started.
- The Floating Gardens in Mexico City. They have been in existence since the time of the Aztecs, and are a must-see!
- The Aztec and Mayan structures are some of the country’s greatest cultural and architectural landmarks. The largest Aztec city, Tenochtitlan, lies right at the base of Mexico City.
- Mexico's beaches are among the best in the region and should not be missed by sun and sand worshipers. The traditional beach town of Acapulco on the Pacific coast is still a favourite, as well as the Caribbean coastal areas of Cancun and the island of Cozumel. Take your pick!

Key honeymoon facts about Mexico

When to go:
The climate of Mexico is as varied as its geography and topography, giving it one of the most diverse weather systems in the world. One thing’s for sure – you’ll need to pack a good sunscreen for your honeymoon in Mexico. To the south and along the coast the climate is tropical, whereas the northern half of the country and areas of higher elevation experience a more temperate climate. Most of the large cities in Mexico, including its capital Mexico City, are situated in the Valley of Mexico at elevations of 2000 meters and above. This accounts for their year round temperatures ranging between 20 to 25 degrees Celsius. Along the Caribbean coast of the Yucatan Peninsula in the south east, you will find relatively high temperatures ranging between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius throughout the year. These areas are also prone to the effects of major hurricanes during the summer and fall seasons.
