Unique Historic Venue - Currently Being Restored - Opening 2021
The Harbour Chapel is an intimate, historic and unique East Lothian wedding venue for up to 110 guests. We are a diverse and inclusive venue, perfect for weddings, ceremonies and celebrations. This spectacular former church and elegant reception bar create an exquisite destination in which to celebrate your love.
The venue provides the truly unique experience of getting married and then celebrating in an atmospheric and historic space lit by magnificent stained glass windows originating from St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh. Beautiful banqueting tables can seat up to 70 for dining and a further 40 guests can join the evening celebrations.
The chapel is soaked in history and retains all its original features, the scallop shelled oak pulpit, balcony and ornate Victorian stained glass windows all contribute to creating this special sense of place.
This beautifully restored Historic Wesleyan Chapel is the oldest in Scotland and dates back to 1764. John Wesley preached here on 21 occasions and in 1770 he wrote:
“In the evening I preached at the new house at Dunbar, the cheerfullest in all the Kingdom”
Scotland produces some of the best food and drink in the world and East Lothian is no exception to that. From the freshest seafood coming into our local harbours, the finest meats, organic fruit and vegetables, locally sourced cheeses, numerous bakeries, dairies and confectioners, wine selections and locally crafted beer and spirits, we really do have it all.
Whatever your preference, we will work with you to source the best produce to meet all your catering needs. From fine dining, buffets, canapes, cakes, cheese boards to wine and spirits, East Lothian provides some of the best produce around. You will be spoilt for choice when we help you to find the best of Scottish Cuisine.
Imagine walking down the aisle in the beautiful historic church and taking your vows in front of the magnificent stained glass windows in the company of your friends and family. After the ceremony, while your guests make their way through to the adjoining reception bar, you can use the church space, balcony and small garden for photographs, or take a stroll down to the picturesque harbour with its castle remains and spectacular views.
Enjoy a chilled glass of champagne before dining in the church with your guests at fabulous banqueting style tables. You can take the opportunity to cut your cake and if you feel bold enough, make your speeches from the pulpit!
As the evening progresses, take a moment with friends to relax with a coffee in the reception bar, while we create the prefect party atmosphere for you to welcome evening guests and dance the night away.
Every event at the Harbour Chapel is unique and we will work with you to create your own custom-made package to meet your personal tastes, needs and requirements. The interior of the building and furnishings create a real sense of warmth and atmosphere and we offer to provide you with as much as possible to allow you to truly relax and enjoy your event or celebration.
