Historic Holdsworth House is totally unique and wonderfully photogenic, having featured on TV numerous times. The four star hotel is packed with interesting and historic features, and is traditionally styled with wood panelled halls, beamed ceilings and furnished with antiques, paintings and tapestries.

There are five rooms available for ceremonies from 2 to 120 guests, including The Gazebo - the smallest licensed venue in the country.  The Stuart Room can accommodate up to 120-seated guests for a wedding breakfast and 150 for an evening party. You can even marry outdoors, May to September, in the stunning gardens or in beautiful Colonnade Courtyard, with drinks and handmade canapés on the lawns or patios.

We stopped in this hotel for a friends wedding reception. I have to say this is an exceptional hotel full of character. All the staff that we encountered were very professional in their approach to service. The breakfast in the morning was not the biggest but I have to say the quality was second to none. For an old building the cleanliness is very good. All in all we had a very enjoyable stay.

Overnight stay for a wedding

An absolutely beautiful venue for my son’s wedding - characterful building with gorgeous grounds. We were blessed with fabulous weather so the ceremony was moved to the lawned area - perfect! Everything ran smoothly and the staff were friendly and attentive. Our overnight room was quaint with a sloping roof and velux window, the bed was comfortable. The bathroom more than adequate with a modern shower cubicle, the shower having good pressure. Overall this was a delightful wedding and overnight stay. Only a couple of minor niggles that didn’t detract from our visit - the cooked breakfast wasn’t as good as we were expecting (the scrambled eggs in particular looked very undercooked and sloppy) and one or two areas in the hotel could do with a little TLC and refurbishment. A morning stroll in the gardens was lovely, and in company with the resident cat, Eric.

I am a little late in writing this review. We got married here in March 2019, and it was just the most fab day. From waking up and having our breakfast of choice in the quaint dining area, to leaving the next day the staff could not do enough to make our whole day special. We were blessed with the most beautiful weather, the sun shone all day long, which enabled our guests to have after ceremony drinks outside whilst mingling. The food we chose was perfect and we where able to choose this prior to the event, we have vegan and vegetarian guests and all were catered for as well as a couple of younger children. We were allowed to decorate the venue to our taste and the room looked beautiful

Wonderful hotel & Wedding venue

We were looking for a venue for our Wedding that was comfortable looking after a small party of only 10 people. Holdsworth House delivered in every way possible right from our first meeting with them. The staff at the Hotel truly understand about hospitality and customer care. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Everything was asked for was always possible and doable. Such a refreshing change in attitude. The fact we were only a small party made no difference to the team. We held our ceremony in the Hotel's 'Stone Gazebo' located in the corner of their fantastic garden. Don't make the mistake of thinking of a garden gazebo! The Hotel is set in its own grounds and the gardens to the rear are lovely particularly on a sunny day. There is so much history around the Hotel you can while away your time just reading some of the back history of the place! It is well worth paying the extra to have one of the suites as they offer much more space for a small extra cost per day. The food on our Wedding day and at breakfast each morning was superb and freshly prepared. Compliments to the catering team. If you have been watching Gentleman Jack on BBC then there is the added bonus of Shibden Hall, the home of Anne Lister, being only five miles down the road. Well worth a visit as well. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our Wedding and stay at Holdsworth House and would highly recommend the Hotel and staff to anyone. PS: Don't forget to say hello to Eric the Hotel cat!

This is a lovely place to get married. We came for a friend’s wedding and it was faultless, the service ran smoothly and the food was lovely. We didn’t stay over as we live local however we had a peak in a courtyard room and it looked lovely.

We got married here in march, i can honestly say we had the most perfect day & we would not have changed anything! In the run up to the wedding the staff could not have been more helpful, in particular Claire & Joseph. On the day the food was amazing & so many of our guests have commented on how nice it was! Tracey the master of ceremonies i thought was extremely nice & helpful. We had exclusive use & anybody looking to get married here i would definitely recommend paying the extra for this if you have it in your budget as this i think really made our day. We had the whole hotel to ourselves, most of our guests stayed overnight & we all had breakfast together in the morning which was another highlight! Thank you to all the staff who worked that day & made our day perfect!

Outstanding Wedding Venue

Wow, wow, wow! We were married here only yesterday, what a stunning venue. Almost 2 years in the planning since we first booked. The organisation and attention from the staff was second to none especially Tracy and Liam. Our needs were catered for at every stage. The hotel even allowed us to use the reception room on several occasions in the weeks up to our wedding to practice our first dance, which we had learnt in secret. The food was amazing, the service was amazing and the stay in the bridal suite (room 40) was fabulous. The breakfast the following morning was incredible. Forget anywhere else... If you're planning a wedding this is the place to be! Well done to all the staff at Holdsworth House and thank you for making our special day that little bit extra special...

Came here to a wedding on 31st March and it was absolutely brilliant, the food was excellent and the staff that was serving us was so good they really new what they was doing and they was so attentive, I really couldn’t fault it. It’s an old place and a bit quirky but still very nice. What a brilliant time we had. And a big thank you to Andy and Lisa for a wonderful day and all the staff.

We had the pleasure of attending a wedding at this venue. From start to finish it was fab everything went smoothly. Ceremony went smoothly. the food at the reception was really lovely but could've had another alternative to the pate as wasn't a popular choice on the table we were on that's only a personal thing but the staff did something for others on table but my partner didn't like what was offered neither choice was his preference that can't be helped. A lovely lady member of staff was telling us a bit of the history and story behind the venue which was really interesting and nice sorry I don't know her name but she had a pot on her wrist. They had some young staff and a lot of them were on their first day but it didn't really show the were all attentive and helpful. We didn't stay long for the evening part so can't comment on that but it seemed to go as smooth as the whole day. This place is lovely perfect venue for a wedding and would defiantly reccommened this place you deserve a big pat on the back for running a lovely hotel.

Beautiful wedding venue
Venue Service

By Claire P, on 09 Oct 2019Date of Wedding - 26 Jan 2019

Attended a wedding yesterday at this beautiful hotel and stayed overnight. The hotel is old (late 1500’s, early 1600’s) and has maintained its traditional decor. It is clean, well looked after and the staff are superb. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and were really looked after. The staff were lovely, friendly and very smart - nothing was too much trouble. The wedding was amazing. The food was absolutely gorgeous; pâté to start, a melt in the mouth price of beef, potatoes, Veg and Yorkshire pudding for the main and a delicious sticky toffee and ice cream dessert. The evening food was lasagne, garlic bread, salad - again plenty to go around and regularly topped up to make sure everyone was well fed. Our room was lovely (35). Nice and clean, big comfortable bed and great power shower. Tea, coffee and biscuits - well stocked. Breakfast the next day was excellent, something for everyone, cold/hot, traditional/continental - very tasty, well presented and again the staff were exceptional. If you want a lovely wedding venue or simply a special night away this place is a must. Warm, friendly and full of character.
