The Spur Battery Amphitheatre at Fort Amherst offers a fascinating insight into the fort's history. Constructed during the Napoleonic Wars, it was designed as an outwork to enhance the fort's defense's. Its main features are a sunken courtyard, which has been restored as an open-air auditorium. The grass areas offer you the opportunity to place a Marquee for your reception if you wish to make the day complete. The Grand Magazine is a historic structure that served as the main powder store for the fort, designed to keep gunpowder dry and secure. The building laid buried, undiscovered for years until it was lovingly uncovered, restored and brought back to life. Today, it stands as a testament to the fort's military history and is part of our site's fascinating heritage and its historic ambiance will emphasise the significance of your special day. This dramatic and impressive building has its own courtyard and roof terrace which gives spectacular views over Medway.
