About

Hi, thanks for clicking through!

You already know Anita is a Celebrant, but I'm sure you'll want to know more about what that means. Here's a light version, but if you want a deeper dive, carry on reading.

If you're looking for a friendly, creative, and relaxed wedding celebrant who'll make your ceremony unique and inclusive, Anita would love to hear from you. Get in touch and start planning a ceremony as unique as you are.

Independent Celebrants create and lead personal, loving and bespoke ceremonies written especially for you, whether it's a wedding, renewal of vows or loving commitment ceremony, wherever and whenever you want it.

Anita is based in Shropshire, but covers Powys, Herefordshire and Worcestershire too, plus she's happy to travel wherever your ceremony is going to be. If you want to marry abroad—she loves Italy, by the way—let her know!

And now, if you want the full-fat version, read on!

So how does it all work?

First, you like the sound of Anita and what she does and you get in touch. If you haven't already met at a wedding fayre for example, then Anita will arrange a meet up. It might be online in the first instance, but it depends...she likes to meet face-to-face whenever possible, but you might be across the other side of the world looking for a wedding in a woodland somewhere in the beautiful Shropshire Hills, who knows!

Either way, you'll meet, and that's really important because you need to be right for each other. Anita says 'we need to connect; we need to 'get' each other. We'll form a really close bond, so it's important that we like each other and that you feel safe and secure.' All of these things are so important - you'll be spending lots of time together, so make sure you click and have some fun!

So you've met Anita, and you've booked her for your wedding or other ceremony, what next?

Over the months, you'll get to know each other more and chat about your love story, your hopes and dreams, and things you're nervous about. Maybe you're neurodivergent, so Anita will be sure to go about things in a way that suits you.

Anita is an LGBTQIA positive wedding provider; you are in safe hands, whoever you are and whoever you love. Anita meets you where you're at and promotes accessibility for all. Working with a celebrant to design your perfect ceremony is particularly brilliant if you or your loved ones are differently-abled or neurodiverse, because every decision you make in collaboration with Anita will emerge from your needs and wishes.

She'll talk through everything; how you'd like your ceremony to be: fun and fabulous, sweet and calm, quirky or traditional, indoors or outdoors, a festival wedding weekend on your farm or your dream wedding venue. It's always up to you. Anita says 'to be honest my ceremonies are mostly a combination of lots of those things, but rest assured, we can still include all the traditional elements, such as a ring exchange and vows, even a certificate if you like. Unless you'd rather not of course'. Anita recently created a ceremony for a couple who were too emotional to read out loud and so they exchanged their vows in a letter to each other and sealed it with their favourite rum shots instead! Perfect for them, and that's the key.

Next you'll talk about your ceremony words and decide on any extra symbolic elements such as a hand-tying, a wedding ring warming and blessing, a bespoke sand ceremony, or maybe she'll create one just for you. Anita recently hosted a mid-ceremony quiz based on the couple's favourite panel show - anything and everything is possible, but remember, only with a Celebrant!

Close to the ceremony date you and Anita will most likely visit your venue, or wherever you're holding your wedding, to have a think about the ceremony choreography. Who needs to be where and when, all that kind of thing. How best to arrive; lots of couples dread a 'walk down the aisle' scenario - you absolutely don't have to do that. Other things like the best way to arrange the seats, where any readers should stand, and any surprises you may have included (oh yes, surprises are so much fun!)

Come the day, Anita will be with you early-on to settle any last-minute nerves and ensure everything is ready. Then, it's the ceremony, and it's beautiful for both you and your guests. Anita believes your ceremony is the heart of your wedding day* and should be unforgettable. It shouldn't be a quick, impersonal service, the same as all the others you've been to, that everyone has to sit through wondering when they can go and get a drink!

Boring but important bit - Anita is fully trained and qualified at the International College of Professional Celebrants (ICPC), with a NOCN Level 3 certificate in Celebrancy, and is fully insured.

This is the less boring bit, and it may make no difference to you anyway, but Aniita is an award-winning Celebrant! Only the English Wedding Awards Celebrant of the Year—yay!

*Important bit. We're waiting for marriage law reform to go through Government but as it stands just now, a Celebrant can't legally register a marriage in England and Wales. But that can easily be completed at any register office once you've 'given notice' of marriage. It's a simple, short ceremony, with just the two lines of consent required for legal registration being said by the couple in front of two witnesses and your signatures. Then you're free to hold your wedding ceremony anywhere because you're no longer bound by legal restrictions. Anita thinks of it as being married in law and then being truly married in love in the way that suits you with the Celebrant of your choice!

Other than the words of consent, everything else is ceremonial: the rings, the vows, everything! Get the legal 'wedmin' out of the way and entrust your ceremony with the Celebrant you've chosen, rather than the person who happens to be on duty from the registrar's office, and has another two or three weddings to perfom that day.

Phew! If you're still reading, well done, you and Anita are already a good fit!
