The Best Day of Our Lives

From the moment we enquired to host our wedding at the Waldorf Astoria, we knew it was the best decision we had ever made. Our wedding planner Sarah quickly arranged a meeting to hear our plans for the weekend. She listened actively to our ideas and gave us suggestions to make our day even better; her passion was contagious and only got us more excited about what was to come.

The packages on offer were comprehensive, compared to those we had seen elsewhere in the city. They included canapes, a piper, a pianist, reception drinks for guests, and centre pieces for the wedding breakfast to name a few! Sarah created a bespoke package that quite literally had it all. We signed the contract quickly, once again the process was simple and straightforward. The first steps of wedding planning, completed!

The lead up to the wedding was seamless; Sarah was on hand via phone and email to answer questions or queries. We were introduced to our florist and event décor company early on and met with them to share our vision. Additional items were ordered with ease, such as buttonholes, bouquets, Chiavari chairs and drapes. The preferred suppliers were very fitting with the hotel; passionate, knowledgeable and attentive.

Our bespoke package offered a menu tasting for 6 guests, so with Mums and Dads in tow, we headed to a private meeting space at the Waldorf Astoria. Staff were attentive, the food was out of this world and the chef even explained elements of each dish at our table as they were served. Multiple wines were on offer to taste alongside the food, and we were able to give feedback on the dishes we ate, which was received positively and genuinely appreciated. We chose our three courses with ease; our guests would not be disappointed!

We had family coming from all corners of the country and upon checking in on the Friday, the whole hotel could not have been more accommodating and friendly! Every member of staff was excited and wished our family good luck for the weekend ahead. In their rooms, Scottish welcome plates and drinks were on offer… a gorgeous touch for our friends south of the border!

Then our big day… From in-room dining (breakfast of champions for the bridal party) to sorting toddler kilt mishaps, staff went above and beyond to create the special day that we envisioned, and then some! The biggest compliment we could give is that on the day, we didn’t need to wonder what was happening next, or where someone might be… everything was carefully and discretely organised and executed!

Walking into the Castle Suite and Lounge, each set up was gorgeous… The flowers, the signage, and little touches. The turn-around between ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception was efficient and seamless. Each set up was divine and exactly like we had in mind. Our guests were blown away each time – the Waldorf staff executed each set up to perfection. The elegance and splendour of the Castle Suite was the perfect backdrop for the best day of our lives.

To summarise, the Caley was the perfect venue for us. At each stage of our wedding journey, we were at ease and taken care of by Sarah and the whole team. Thank you for making our special day come to life!

We highly recommend the hotel for anyone looking to have the perfect wedding day. The venue is stunning, the location is perfect for all in the heart of the city centre, the service was professional and attentive, our coordinator was amazing and took care of every detail. From the moment we booked we felt confident and at ease with our choice. Our guests still talk about how wonderful the venue and service were! We could not have asked for a better place to celebrate our big day.

Thank you!

Our Wedding Day

"Its all about you" was a term that seemed to be used a lot during the whole wedding process. This was certainly the case in everything Tegan and her Events team did during 'our Wedding' at the fabulous Waldorf Astoria (The Caledonian) in Edinburgh. From initial contact Tegan and her team could simply not be more accommodating - refreshing considering other luxury hotels in and around the area were unable to host us, unless 'minimum numbers attending' were met (we wanted a simple 'micro wedding', 4 people and a celebrant). Attentive yet not intrusive, informative but not confusing and above all highly professional and simply caring - in all that they did. This was Tegan and her team to a tee. The wider team around the hotel were simply exceptional; from the Concierge & Reception staff, the catering teams, housekeeping and the bar staff (the 'sabrage' was a truly fun and welcome addition to the day). Our Wedding day at the hotel was simply faultless and will live in our hearts and in our minds for years to come.

Amazing venue and team!

We absolutely loved The Caledonian. Our whole day was amazing from start to finish, everything went so smoothly (and I can’t thank Gabby, our coordinator enough for making sure we got something to eat whilst getting our photos done)! So many of our guests and wedding party commented on how smoothly everything went and how quick the change overs were when the room was being set up for the next part of the day! Everything we’ve heard has been so positive and it is such a stunning hotel! Genuinely was the best day ever and we both feel it couldn’t have gone any better! Would highly recommend The Caledonian as a wedding venue, it’s perfect in every way!
