Surrounded by parkland in the tranquil Scottish Borders, Thirlestane Castle is a fairytale setting for weddings with its majestic turrets and rose-pink stone. This hidden gem is one of the oldest & finest inhabited castles in Scotland, and is just 35 minutes south of Edinburgh. Royalty and distinguished guests have been entertained at Thirlestane Castle since the 16th century, and now you can have exclusive use of this castle too.
MAGNIFICENT STATE ROOMS
The sumptuously decorated State Drawing Room with its ornate 17th-century ceilings is perfect for an awe-inspiring ceremony. Host a dramatic wedding breakfast in the State Dining Room, with its rich colours and portrait-lined walls.
For smaller weddings, our Panelled Room in the oldest part of the castle gives you a private space to exchange vows in front of a few close family and friends.
RUSTIC, CONTEMPORARY SPACES
If you are looking for a different feel, then continue your celebrations into the evening in our beautiful Cobbled Courtyard and atmospheric Vaulted Cellar. Our Victorian Kitchen with its original range cooker is a unique space for an elopement or even a family dinner the night before your big day.
Overlooking the oldest part of the castle, the Garden is a stunning setting for a marquee reception or alfresco ceremony. You can enjoy a garden party atmosphere on a summer’s afternoon, and later dance the night away under the stars.
