No matter how strictly you abide by the T&Cs, our experience has left me feeling like you STILL won’t get your £1,000 deposit back.

Before our wedding I had seen previous reviews from guests who hadn’t had their deposits returned because of noise or time restrictions being breached. Because of that, we were SUPER strict about those things. We made absolutely sure we followed the rules around noise and timings because I was determined there would be no reason for them to keep our deposit.

But apparently it didn’t matter.

Only a few days before our wedding, we were sent new restrictions and changes to the terms and conditions. We were extremely accommodating and did everything we could to make sure we complied with them, despite this being incredibly last minute for such an important event.

Our full £1,000 deposit is now being withheld for alleged damage which, from what we have been shown, there is no evidence was caused by us or wasn’t already there.

A couple of days after our wedding, while we were supposed to be enjoying our honeymoon, we received a really distressing phone call. Rather than allowing us to enjoy that incredibly special time, the call was entirely focused on a list of the venue’s complaints about us and telling us that we wouldn’t be getting our £1,000 deposit back.

That phone call completely changed how I remember my wedding.

This was a once-in-a-lifetime event. We had just had one of the most special days of our lives and should have been spending those first days afterwards talking about all of the amazing memories we had made. Instead, those memories became tied up with stress, accusations and worrying about what else we were going to be blamed for.

It has now been more than three weeks since our wedding and they are still being completely unreasonable. Looking back at the last-minute changes to the terms, the way the deposit was discussed and everything that has happened since, it is VERY difficult for me to believe that our deposit was EVER going to be returned.

We were conscientious, respectful guests and went out of our way to accommodate everything that was asked of us.

If you’re considering booking the field, lodges or facilities, please protect yourself. Get absolutely everything in writing, read the deposit terms very carefully and document the condition of EVERYTHING when you arrive.

I’m honestly so, so disappointed. My memories of our wedding have been completely tainted by how we have been treated afterwards, and that is something no amount of money can undo.
