Mulberry House is a family-owned and operated wedding venue located in High Ongar, England. This Essex estate is nestled on 22 acres of rolling fields, wishing wells, and lakes that create a breathtaking backdrop. The historic house has been subtly converted into a boutique hotel while retaining its origional charm and details. Featuring stunning Georgian architecture mixed with 21st-century additions, this venue is a luxurious and unique setting to hold weddings all year through.
Facilities and Capacity
Mulberry House is licensed for civil ceremonies of up to 140 people. The venue has two beautiful wedding reception spaces, both of which come equipped with working bars and can seat between 50 and 140 guests. The Copper Room is furnished with exquisite chandeliers and exposed beams, while the Marquee is draped with white cloth and fairy lights. Before dining and dancing, drinks receptions can be held on the terrace overlooks the grounds and lake. After the festivities, you and your loved ones can retire to the hotel's 25 overnight accommodations. These comfortable and tastefully-designed en-suite bedrooms will allow you to relax and unwind after a fun-filled day with all your friends and family.
Services Offered
Mulberry House only hosts one wedding per day, meaning that no other couple is married here on the same day. For your big day, you will have a dedicated Wedding Co-Ordinator, Function Manager, and waiting staff at your disposal to ensure everything goes seamlessly.

Overall a great venue for our wedding
We had our wedding here on Friday 30th January 2026.. we booked mulberry house for our wedding on our first viewing, we loved how the venue looks, how adaptable it was and it is set in some lovely grounds, The team are very friendly and welcoming and we always felt we had a good amount of support and advice available on the lead up to the day.
We had some trouble with forms that needed filling out, as we are a same sex couple we were surprised to find that forms were sent to us with “brides” information on it as there was obviously no bride to be! I did have to ask the team to be mindful that we are a male gay couple and received a swift apology however we did receive further forms relating to “the Bride” which was disappointing to us, as the venue advertises that they are proud to support gay marriage.
On the day the team were great and very helpful, Our on the day coordinator Jo was fantastic and ensured that everything was just as we wanted it as well as giving support to a very emotional groom to be! The whole day ran very smoothly without any hiccups and it’s clear that they are fantastic at what they do here..
we did feel that the teams sense of importance did taper off somewhat the following morning and we found it difficult to get help with questions we had, we also didn’t like that our props and personal belongings had been bundled into a big cage for us to collect and pack away, it all felt a little bit rushed the following morning because they were setting up for another wedding but overall we were happy with the venue and the service we received on our wedding day.

Couldn’t recommend more!
From start to finish, we had the best wedding experience at Mulberry House. The staff was extremely detailed, thorough, and overall helpful leading up to our day and the day itself. A special shoutout to Chloe, Nicola, and Claire for all their hard work helping with our wedding. All of our guests raved about the venue and all the thoughtful attention to detail Mulberry provided. We have absolutely nothing negative to say about our experience.

Best Wedding Ever!
Mulberry House from start to finish were absolutely incredible. Their attention to detail and warm welcoming to everyone was something special. Me and my husband had the best wedding day last Friday. Everything was perfect and every single guest said that it was the best wedding they have ever been to. The fact that it was Christmasy was also just perfect. Special shout outs to Nicola and Chloe who made sure all of the planning went smoothly and they were beyond helpful. Also Jo and Claire were so attentive on the day, nothing was too much trouble and they looked after us so well making our day just so amazing. Thank you guys so much, genuinely lovely people and I recommend this venue highly. Wish I could do it again everyday! Thank you so so much. Charlotte and Iain xx

You won't regret it...
We held our wedding on 30th November 2025 at Mulberry House and honestly, we are so happy we chose this venue.
Every single staff member showed the highest level of care and professionalism, and they all went above and beyond even for the smallest things, from the day we first looked around right up to the big day. No ask ever felt too much of a burden, and they were always available to help - whoever you asked a question of seemed to know what was going on at all times which made us feel like we were super important and valued, and this didn’t just go for us. The entire bridal party and the guests were kept on schedule and informed thanks to our wonderful co-ordinator, Claire, (who even brought me canapes outside during the photos as she realised I hadn’t eaten anything yet). We also had some very elderly guests who were kept warm and full of tea by the reception team when things got too chilly for them outside.
The venue itself is stunning and very photogenic, inside and out, from the Copper room where we held the ceremony and breakfast, through the Garden room to the Marquee. The honeymoon suite itself is very spacious and comfortable (and perfect for your first night as husband and wife!)
The Christmas decorations are a wonderful touch too if you get married during their Christmas period as we did and complimented our own theme perfectly.
The food was delicious and cooked perfectly with everyone’s preferences catered for, from religious requirements to how well done their meat was cooked.
Honestly, if you’re considering Mulberry House for your wedding, you won’t regret it!

Perfect wedding
We was toying with dry hiring a place and doing the entire wedding ourself but as soon as I visited mulberry house, we just knew it was where we was ment to get married. The grounds are stunning! Even on our rainy winter wedding day, it was still gorgeous. We love the cheeky llamas and swans. The ladies are so professional, and friendly and attentive to the details that you wouldn't even think of! Everytime we called or emailed, they responded with help very quickly. Every one of our guests complemented the food and the ones that stayed the night really didn't want to leave, and neither did we. We made full use of the entire venue, we recommend a Monday wedding, the venue was completely ours for the day. We promised we will return every year for afternoon tea as an anniversary treat, and I can't wait to go back there for a flood of beautiful memories ❤️

Most Amazing Mulberry House
Omg, what can we say….. Mulberry House is AMAZING!
The location is beautiful, the house is perfect in every way, the staff are brilliant and the food is fantastic.
All of our guests commented that the venue was absolutely breathtaking and everyone had the most amazing day.

Our wedding 24.11.25
Me and my now husband went to visit mulberry house in November 2024, in the hopes we would find our wedding venue.
We were greeted by lovely Jo who was wonderful. After seeing the beautiful grounds and meeting the lovely staff we decided to book. Throughout the planning process Chloe & Nicola was fantastic, super informative and professional.
Nothing was ever a bother for them.
Reception were brilliant in booking the rooms and informing our guests of payments etc..
A few of my guests had allergies and the staff worked really hard to make sure there was no cross contamination on the day.
On the day of our wedding I was met by my wedding coordinator Claire. On the day I was very nervous and she was very kind and patient with me. She made sure our whole day ran as smooth as possible with no fault & made sure I had a glass of Prosecco in my hand straight after the ceremony.
Our food was beautiful and all our guests said it was the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding. Catrina was with me throughout the day to work alongside Claire and she was just so lovely it made the whole experience that more special.
At the end of the night we were left with a bottle of bubbly to celebrate between us.
Thank you mulberry house for the most wonderful hospitality & perfect venue.

Beautiful wedding venue
Me and my partner booked Mulberry House for our wedding which we had in November and it was the most perfect day! The ground are beautiful and the staff looked after us throughout our whole experience. Chloe was our wedding specialist who we were in touch with throughout all the planning, making sure everything was planned to perfection then Claire looked after us all day, nothing was ever too much trouble and she made sure the whole day run so smoothly. Food was also delicious! Would highly recommend Mulberry as a wedding venue for a personal wedding experience - thank you so much to all the team. Calum & Skye x

The best venue & team!
I went to afternoon tea here in April 2024 dragged my hubby to be back a week later and we booked our wedding for 20th November 2025 without seeing any other venues I just knew this was the one. The whole day ran seamlessly it was incredible, can’t thank Chloe enough on planning side and Claire and the team enough on the day nothing was too much trouble 10/10 would do it again with Mulberry. Mr & Mrs Winter a day we will never forget
Not only the day of the wedding but the planning before went extremely smooth due to staff at mulberry house! from chloe answering any quentions and queries that we had/wanted leading up to the wedding, to claire on the day making sure our day went extremly smooth from taking any stress from the bride the moment she got there right up to the end of the night! even though it rained on our day the staff went from making sure the brides dress,hair or makeup did not get ruined and my suit and hair stayed in tact but the staff all got wet which they did not care about as long as it did not ruin our day.
mulberry house is value for money we had everything we could want and more than we actully knew we needed, from the venue to the people that work there honestly we would choose this place every time no bad points at all. we thank you

A massive thank you to Mulberry house for making sure our wedding day was perfect. The day went better than we ever could've imagined and you were a big part of that 🩵
I was so anxious in the build up and was thinking of all the things I would need to do, but you guys handled everything and knew exactly what to do. The communication and help during the entire day was great, I didn't have to worry about a thing and you all made us feel so welcome and calm. Even the venue and grounds itself made us all feel calm and the guests all said the same.
The meal was amazing. We had everyone coming up to us complimenting the food and telling us we picked our menu well. Even the breakfast for my bridal party and the morning after the wedding was so good that we were all going back for more
Have to give a shout out to the bar staff for putting up with us all night and for their dancing behind the bar. It made me so happy to see you were enjoying yourselves aswell
