When we started looking for wedding venues, we knew exactly what we didn't want: anything too formal, too expensive, or too traditional. We wanted somewhere relaxed, surrounded by nature, and somewhere that genuinely felt like us.
From our very first conversation with Carl, we knew we'd found it.
Nothing ever felt like a sales pitch. Carl genuinely cared about helping us create the day we wanted, rather than fitting us into a package. He listened to our ideas, gave advice when we needed it, and always had time for another call or visit. No question was too small, and none of our slightly mad ideas were ever dismissed.
One of the things that sold The Red House to us was the flexibility. We loved the reasonably priced BBQ menu because a formal three-course meal just wasn't our style. Our wedding was Pokémon-themed, I made many of the decorations myself, and Carl embraced it all wholeheartedly. He supported our vision from start to finish and added thoughtful touches that we hadn't even considered ourselves. On an exceptionally hot day, he placed hand fans on guests' chairs before the ceremony, and he surprised us with a beautiful framed mirror welcome sign. Small gestures like these made such a difference and showed just how much he cared.
The venue itself is stunning. We fell in love with the marquee, the cosy pub interior, the meadow and wildlife pond, and even the old English phone box. One of the biggest bonuses was that we never had to leave the venue for photographs. The beautiful grounds provided the perfect backdrop for our couple portraits and group shots, and the photos turned out absolutely stunning.
Having a venue licensed for ceremonies meant we could hold our entire day in one place, making everything so much easier and more relaxed for us and our guests.
The food was another highlight. The BBQ was absolutely delicious and exactly what we had hoped for - relaxed, generous, and full of flavour. We also hired the ice cream cart, which felt like such a "us" addition to the day, and it went down an absolute treat with our guests.
We also stayed overnight in one of the rooms, which was beautiful: spotless, spacious, tastefully decorated, and overlooking the pond. It had everything we needed and was the perfect place to unwind after the celebrations.
When the wedding day arrived, it somehow exceeded all of our expectations. Everything ran so smoothly that we were able to simply enjoy ourselves. Despite having around 120 guests, the venue never felt overcrowded. People could dance, chat at the bar, wander through the grounds, or sit outside enjoying the sunshine. The atmosphere was exactly what we'd hoped for: relaxed, joyful, and completely authentic to us.
We've lost count of how many guests told us it was one of the best weddings they'd ever been to.
If you're looking for a venue that offers beautiful surroundings, fantastic value, incredible flexibility, delicious food, and an owner who truly wants your day to be special, we cannot recommend The Red House highly enough.

We absolutely loved our wedding at The Red House. There were so many things that met our requirements and hopes for our ideal wedding:

- Food. The food at the Red House is the biggest standout for us. We started visiting the restaurant and fell in love with the farm-to-table food, the changing menu based on the season, and how delicious and good value for money it is. There is something for everyone on this menu, and the head Chef Lee is a mastermind. He worked with us to tailor our own menu for a small wedding, and even a year after our wedding, everyone still raves about the food (and generous portion sizes, no one will leave hungry).

- Drinks. The wine list is great. Carl (owner) has put a lot of effort into the wine list, where even the cheapest bottle is delicious. He is generous in letting you try the wines to select the ones you want for your wedding. The bar also does all the cocktails you would expect! There is both an inside and outside bar which is wonderful.

- Setting. The restaurant is just stunning with a great decor and vibe. The outdoor beer garden is gorgeous, with plenty of space to walk around, sit at different areas on the grounds, see fire pits, and relax. They also let you bring garden games which were a huge hit for us.

- Rooms. The on-site rooms are recently done and decorated beautifully. Everyone who stayed in the rooms spoke positively of them, and the suite for the married couple is really good too.

- Logistics. Planning with Carl over email and in person visits are easy. Carl is so flexible, and the type of owner who will support you in everything he can. He made our day exactly what we hoped for, and his guidance, recommendations and flexibility were really standout for us.

- Price. We asked for quotes across all the standard venues in the area, and we thought the value for money was best at The Red House for our needs.

- Service. The staff supporting our wedding were a dream. They were so friendly, professional, supportive, and you could tell they just enjoyed the whole thing. Some even helped us take brilliant photos after our photographer left for the evening. We thoroughly enjoyed spending the day and evening with them, and speaking with them.
