The Mill is a unique wedding venue and Grade II-listed historic mill located in Wakefield, in England's West Yorkshire region. Those looking to enjoy creative freedom on their wedding planning journey will adore this blank-canvas space, suitable for ceremonies and wedding breakfasts. While in town, you and your guests can stroll by the river, explore nearby gardens, peruse The Hepworth Wakefield art gallery and enjoy comfortable overnight accommodations.

Facilities and Capacity

The Mill welcomes both intimate and grand celebrations with between 50 and 200 guests. Step inside and admire its enchanting industrial-style design, the perfect backdrop for nearly any wedding theme. You'll find exposed red brick, soaring vaulted ceilings, and overhead lighting to set the mood. While its windows flood the space with natural light in the afternoon, hundreds of lights and flickering candles make it even more magical at night. Its open-floor plan gives you plenty of flexibility when choosing your dream layout, from classic banquet-style to long rustic tables. During the summer months, you're welcome to extend the celebration to their charming terrace. This venue can be enjoyed year-round thanks to its energy-saving modern heating facilities.

Cuisine

This venue's experienced on-site catering staff provides delicious cuisine made with locally-sourced ingredients from nearby farms and butchers. With this 'champions of local' culinary team, you and your guests will have a true Yorkshire experience and savour a diverse and creative menu tailored to your taste. They put seasonal ingredients on a pedestal and will work with you to curate the perfect menu fo the occasion.

Poor food served on the wedding day. Poor communication. Hostile, unprofessional responses.

Unfortunately the food provided for my daughters wedding day fell below standard. Did not resemble the food served to them on their taster day and upon requesting an explanation for this they have been met with very unprofessional hostile responses. The communication running up to the wedding was slow, the final invoice was not received until after the final payment date was due and after a number of requests were made for this. There has been no accountability for any part of the issues that were experienced that day and the response to the Google review in my opinion suggests that they had paid cheap when in fact this was not the case for the number of day guests that were present. They have suggested that the pictures shared were of half eaten food and in truth they had a few potatoes, chorizo and one meatball. However I am unsure on how replacing these items would have made any difference to what was presented before them. They have even been told that the food served both on their taster day and wedding day was made to the same standard by the same chef. I personally find that very hard to believe. The venue is lovely and it is evident that as a company they can deliver a really good service, however this is not the same for all customers and purely for this reason I do not recommend this company.

Perfect day!

The venue was perfect! Staff were so lovely and even joined in with the after party! I couldn’t have asked for a better more relaxed perfect day!
