Nestled deep in the Scottish Borders, just 1 hour from Edinburgh and 90 minutes from Newcastle, sits the breathtaking Haining estate and manor house. With beauty and history around every corner, The Haining is a venue like no other.

One hundred sixty acres of country estate encircle the serene Haining Loch, where woodland paths meander through ancient trees and birdsong fills the air. Overlooking the loch sits the historic manor house, exquisitely refurbished between 2019 and 2025 to its original beauty and grandeur, along with some very modern updates, including full wheelchair access, ample parking and a stunning custom-built marquee.

Weddings at the Haining are exclusive, meaning the house is entirely yours for the duration of your event, including the luxurious all-weather Marquee and Lochside Terrace. Our aim is for you and your guests to experience and enjoy the house as if it were your own. Flowers, lanterns, fairy lights - whatever you choose, at the Haining, there are endless opportunities to make your special day a truly personal and unforgettable experience.

The Haining House

The Haining House is the “jewel in the crown” of the Haining estate.

With its iconic Palladian architecture and beautiful rooms, the Haining House seamlessly blends the grandeur of a Scottish country manor with the warmth and intimacy of a family home. Outside, the Terrace and balconies offer picture-perfect photo opportunities. Inside, light floods the rooms through full-length windows, giving panoramic views across the loch and beyond. The house is truly beautiful in every season, with guests sipping Champagne on the terrace in summer or by a roaring fire in the winter.

Intimate ceremonies of up to 40 guests can be held within the atmospheric Library and Drawing Room, or on the Terrace. For larger gatherings, the luxurious, all-weather marquee can accommodate up to 200 guests. All the ceremony rooms at The Haining have floor-length windows overlooking the loch, creating the perfect backdrop for your “I dos”.

Upstairs, the Bride’s room offers a stunning setting to get ready for your day or just a peaceful retreat for a quiet moment after the ceremony and a place to store gifts, flowers and other important things, whilst the room across the hall can be used as a creche or playroom for your littlest guests. There is lift access to all floors, so all your guests can fully enjoy and experience the day.

The Marquee

The stunning, custom-built permanent Marquee is new for 2025. Accessed directly from the house, the Marquee is a flexible space for ceremonies, wedding meals and evening receptions, and can seat up to 200 guests for a wedding meal. Its dramatic, full-length bi-fold double-glazed doors offer spectacular unspoilt views across the loch to the rolling hills beyond - a perfect backdrop for your top table.

With its own bar and private terrace area, it’s a wonderful space for wedding parties. The table layout can be customised to your preference, with a beautiful wood floor to ceilidh or dance the night away.

The marquee has heating and air conditioning, so the party can go on no matter the weather!
