Imagine exchanging vows in a venue steeped in history, where legendary figures once walked and timeless love stories unfolded! The Great Hall in Winchester, Hampshire is a unique, ancient hall venue, and it looks incredible, all dressed up for a wedding!

The space is remarkably versatile and is suitable for large weddings (licensed up to 300, including staff and caterers), but the impressive stone pillars can also help define a more intimate setting for smaller weddings. The walls almost glow with soft lighting, and history oozes from them!

The Great Hall is available for ceremony only, ceremony & reception packages or drinks & evening only celebrations.

Say your vows beneath the legendary and impressive round table or in front of our famous wedding gates. Then step into our medieval garden with fragrant summer roses and vine-covered walkways, or our striking courtyard, for some stunning photos - the opportunities for incredible pics are endless!

The Great Hall is a dry hire venue giving you complete flexibility to design your day, your way and we're happy to recommend trusted suppliers if you wish.

The Best Wedding Venue!

Oh my goodness! Being able to host our wedding reception at The Great Hall was such a privilege! Elise was amazing at coordinating our event, from start to finish she has an incredible eye for detail and is a real asset to The Great Hall team! Every staff member on the day worked tirelessly and were brilliant. Thank you so much to everyone involved. We could not recommend The Great Hall highly enough. Thank you thank you xx

Stunning venue

Elise and the team were beyond welcoming and helpful in aiding us plan our wedding ceremony at the Great Hall.

The venue is a perfect, impressive location for a wedding. We were very lucky with the weather for our day, allowing us to make full use of the outside space - both infront of the hall and in Queen Eleanor's garden.
Our guests were blown away by the location.

Elise was happy to accomodate requests, providing suggestions based on her experience in the wedding world and recommending suppliers she has previously worked with.
The team were also extremely accomodating for if we needed to drop into the hall for any planning (such as timings for entry music).

Drinks Reception & Photo Perfection!

We arranged for a 1.5hr hire of the Hall for after our registry office ceremony. Elise, events co-ordinator, did a spectaculor job of organising welcome drinks and a set up that matched our vision. The Hall is the backdrop to our wedding photos and we are SO glad we arranged it as it was a thoroughly wet August Saturday!

Our small group that included children loved the costumes to get dressed up and the history to read up on. A small splurge in our wedding budget but well worth it as a unique and beautiful feature. An added bonus that the money goes to the upkeep of this historic monument.

Magical in every way!

Elise delivered top notch service, advice and support in the planning of our wedding ceremony and she and the team delivered everything we'd hoped for and more on the day.

The venue speaks for itself...stunning.

Making the space feel intimate and special was important and the expert advice was really appreciated.
We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience as did all our guests.

Magnificent Location and Experience

The Events Team management of the whole process was attentive and thorough. We both felt secure in the knowledge they were working closely with Suppliers and with us in mind.
We had a wonderful day and we don’t think the Team could have done anything more to ensure it was a memorable occasion for us.
