About
Sand Manor is a historic Elizabethan property with stunning gardens, nestled in the East Devon countryside in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is a Grade II* listed building situated on the south-facing side of the Roncombe Valley, with the stream of the same name running through the bottom of the property’s land, joining the River Sid just north of Sidbury. This location is perfect for more intimate, bespoke weddings - bedrooms within the manor can house up to 18 guests overnight, and the grand Great Hall and Drawing Room are perfect spaces for ceremonies, dining, and evening festivities. The gardens of Sand span over 20 acres and include spacious manicured lawns as well as extended paths through woodlands, with views over the surrounding fields and forests.
Although extensive renovations were completed in 1906, a great deal of the Elizabethan house remains, with a ground-floor hall to the left of the main entrance featuring two large six-light mullion windows. The main façade of the building faces southwest, with the southeast terraced gardens running down towards the river below. Much of the current garden was laid out around 1911, with further alterations in 1970. Both the Great Hall and the Drawing Room boast large, wood-burning fireplaces. The high ceilings and historic interior oak walls add a feeling of grandeur to these spaces. The bedrooms have been thoughtfully designed to retain traditional elements while including modern additions to bring both style and comfort to the restoration.
Sand Manor is a spectacular, historic property and wedding venue located in the picturesque Devon countryside outside Sidbury, inviting couples to say “I do” in an elegant stately home.
