We had such an amazing wedding weekend at Colehayes Park from 3rd- 6th July. From the first contact to, the lead up, on the day and now after our wedding, the team has been so kind, patient and went above and beyond for us. They all clearly love what they do.

Our wedding wasn’t without some additional worry the day before with my Mum being unwell, but the Helping hands team made everything work even when we were behind with our tasks for the wedding morning. They worked seamlessly with all our vendors, especially the caterers on the day to serve our guests the food and drink in the garden.

It’s hard to explain just how special this place is. We were married under the Cork tree on a beautiful summer day, so we truly got lucky, but I think the venue has so many good options for fair and wet weather. Our guests all loved it and said how much they enjoyed the wedding but also the whole weekend.

We are so pleased we picked Colehayes and we are busy planning whether we can return with all our friends to hire it for another weekend as a birthday celebration.

We got married at Colehayes Park in May and we honestly can’t say enough positive things about it! From our first visit when Briony showed us around to the end of our perfect weekend the staff at Colehayes were friendly, warm, helpful and enthusiastic. Briony and Ellice answered every query in the lead up, putting our minds at ease about anything we were worried about. On the weekend of the Wedding we were wondering whether perhaps we might’ve bitten off more than we could chew, organising a DIY event for over 100 people, and then we met Kate and the Helping Hands team and the weight lifted! We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better team of people to help and support us through the weekend and we would advise anyone planning a wedding at Colehayes to take full advantage of what the Helping Hands team can offer – we had support with set up, serving drinks and canapes, help throughout the meal, running the bar and a delicious cooked breakfast the next day. Everything was done with a smile, nothing was too much, and my Mum (who’s 81 and disabled so needs a bit of extra support) said she’d never been to an event where the staff working at it were so cheerful, warm and helpful.

And then onto the venue itself – it’s unbelievable! The setting and gardens are breathtaking and so many of our guests commented on how beautiful it was. The accommodation was ideal for our friends who wanted to stay and make a weekend of it. The gardens are perfect for drinks, canapes, and photos – we had wanted to have our ceremony outside but the unpredictability of the weather that day didn’t allow it so we held it in the hall. At 130 guests it was a bit of a squeeze but it worked perfectly and we think it actually created an even better vibe! The fact that there are so many different rooms and areas people can use is brilliant so guests could be right in the action, or take a break and have a cup of tea in a quiet lounge or kitchen if they wanted some chill time. And then there’s the basement…our guests absolutely loved the pool and table tennis tables which were in use for most of the weekend, and the rave cave was a hit for the Wedding after party! The lake really came into its own for a recovery swim on the Sunday!

Colehayes Park is a very special place – we felt it as soon as we walked through the doors on our first visit and we are SO happy we chose it for our Wedding. We could make our day and weekend completely our own in the most beautiful setting and we felt looked after every step of the way. We’d do it all again tomorrow if we could!

The venue itself is unbelievable and won’t disappoint, one of the reasons for making our wedding so enjoyable.
The booking process was super easy, found a free weekend, spoke to Ellice and within hours had paid our deposit.
Would highly recommend viewing the venue both before and after you book so you can plan what you’re doing to it. We loved the fact there was accommodation upstairs, fitted our style perfectly and the guests loved it. Everything bedrooms, toilets, showers) were super clean; everyone loved it and had no complaints.
The grounds itself were beautiful and we made sure to made use the fire pit, pool table, ping pong table and lake.
We also enjoyed the fact the staff left you to it over the weekend so you could enjoy your time there.was incredibly handy having bar staff and the option of further staff to help out.
In the weeks/months leading up to our weeding, Ellice, Rebecca, Briony were all super responsive, happy to answer any question we had and contactable on the day.
The only minor frustration we had was the weak wifi connection which impacted the card machine working for the bar, but likely as a result of the location/building.
So so glad we booked Colehayes and was one of the main reasons our weeding was so special!

Colehayes Park is an amazing place. The house and grounds were the perfect backdrop to our wedding. We spent the week with friends and family in the run up to the main event and loved every minute of our time there. The location is perfect to get on to Dartmoor, although we spent most of our time around the house, grounds and lake. It is such a relaxing location and we were able to make the most of it, from paddle boarding and swimming in the lake to wandering around the gardens and having fun in the basement playing table tennis and pool.
As a DIY wedding venue we were able to put our own mark on it and make it our own. It accommodated all of our guests and it never felt crowded. We used the Helping Hands Team on our wedding day and we are so pleased that we did. They made the day run smoothly and were so supportive of what we had asked for. We had the most incredible experience at Colehayes Park for our wedding. The venue itself is absolutely stunning – full of charm, character, and surrounded by beautiful natural scenery. One of the biggest highlights for us was the amount of space available. We were able to accommodate all our guests comfortably, with plenty of rooms in the house and additional space for camping, which made it feel like a relaxed, extended celebration with everyone we love.

We also chose to use the ‘Helping Hands’ team, and we’re so glad we did. They were truly fantastic – warm, professional, and incredibly helpful throughout the whole weekend. Their support meant everything ran seamlessly, and it really allowed us to enjoy our day without stress.

We honestly couldn’t recommend Colehayes Park more. It gave us the freedom to create the wedding we wanted in a breathtaking setting, with the added bonus of such wonderful support from the team. Thank you for making our day so special!

The whole Colehayes team have been brillaint. If you are going for a DIY wedding, this is the perfect place as you have the freedom to do what you want but plenty is supplied by the venue too like crockery, fairylights, accommodation for your guests, optional Helping Hands Team (who were fantastic help on the big day!) and more! Colehayes Park is beautiful and really was a dream to have as our wedding venue.

The first viewing with Rebecca back in July 2023 was fab. We instantly felt it was relaxed and we wouldn't be micromanaged on our day. For the majority of questions, the answer was yes which was just great. We felt we could completely relax over the weekend and all our guests then treated the house as a big Air B and B and got stuck in with setting up, tidying up and helping themselves to food.
The booking process was easy because we could look on the website for the available dates and the transparency of cost (so many other venues have additional, hidden costs) made it so easy to think about our budget and how it would fit in. We also really wanted somewhere where the majority of our guests could stay on site and it not be a huge additional chunk of money and we wanted a get together on Sunday- again without additional fees. Colehayes just ticked every single one of our boxes
The information being sent through was brilliant because we weren't bombarded with it all in one email. It was all in manageable chunks and it was clear what information was needed from us and when. It was lovely to touch base throughout the process to give us the opportunity to ask questions and not feel we were hassling you.
The house and grounds...just absolutely stunning. It was lovely to see the gardens in bloom- seeing the wisteria from our room was beautiful. The path to the lake was beautiful where we went to do our first look. Nick got a great photo of us surrounded by the wild garlic. Our family loved reading about the history of the house in the file upstairs and it's lovely how you've kept the old features of the house. Everything was lovely. The rooms were lovely and bright, the bathrooms were great and everyone said how they didn't need to wait at all for showers and didn't care that they were shared. Mum also said the cottage was beautiful and we would definitely stay there again as a family!
The whole weekend just felt smooth and relaxed which was exactly what we were hoping for.

We had our wedding at Colehayes Park and would wholeheartedly recommend anyone else do the same! It's a beautiful venue set in gorgeous grounds, and the flexibility they offer allowed us to design the wedding exactly our way - from a quiet Friday dinner, to Saturday morning lake swim, a wonderful ceremony next to the cork tree; ending with a live band, then DJ set in the Rave Cave.

The whole team were easy to deal with, very professional, accommodating and pleasant - both in the build-up to the weekend, and also on the day when we used some of their staff to help with the dinner and bar service.

I truly don't know how to thank the Colehayes staff enough, we had the wedding of our dreams at the end of June, and the whole process was outstanding. We found Colehayes online and instantly fell in love with the DIY vibe. Rebecca took us on a tour of the house and grounds, and I think it's safe to say after 10 minutes of that tour we were sold. Rebecca was laid back, answered every single question with complete honesty, and clearly loves hosting events at her beautiful property! After booking, the support from Ellice and Briony was second to none. Every email was responded to quickly, every question answered, and made my life as easy as possible. They were happy for us to visit on numerous occasions, and gave us such freedom to make the venue our own for the weekend. It really did feel like our home, and there are no other wedding venues I have been to that can offer this.

From a logistical point of view, Colehayes is second to none. When asking other venues about furniture/crockery/cutlery/rooms etc, everything was at an extra cost. Not Colehayes! All of the chairs and tables we could need, all the crockery and cutlery, the decorations room in the basement is HEAVEN (I love that everyone who previously held an event at Colehayes leaves some decorations for future weddings/parties, it has such a community vibe).

Once it got to the big weekend, we were welcomed in with open arms on Friday, Briony ensured to meet us, and the helping hands staff ran through the wedding day to ensure it would run as smoothly as possible. The whole house was immaculate, the rooms cosy and plentiful!! The gardens simply didn't need decorating, you can see how much work the grounds keepers put into them, it's just beautiful. There's plenty of parking, super easy to order your food delivery right to the door, and so much storage/fridges so you don't have to scramble for space.

So, to the day of the wedding. Perfect in every single way. The venue was flawless, the helping hands staff were kind, efficient, polite, everything you could ask for! We did not want a serious, soulless day, and we loved that the staff all had such a great sense of humour, laughing with our guests and helping create the atmosphere we wanted. The whole day ran seamlessly, I just didn't need to feel like I was checking on anything or worried about timings, because they were so well organised.

We also loved that our friends and family could all stay in the house with us, so once the party was over in the marquee, we could go down to the rave cave and keep the party going as late as we wanted! And it went LATE.

On a side note, four of our suppliers were Colehayes recommended suppliers.
Caterers - Dan's American Kitchen and my goodness do not miss out on Dan's catering. He made up the entire menu with us and was so passionate (he catered for us on both Saturday and Sunday and the guests could not stop raving about his food!). I can see why he his a recommended supplier!
Photographer - Warren and Howell Jones Photography. Again, I cannot shout loudly enough about this man. We do not love posing, and Warren captured the most beautiful, natural, candid photos of everyone. He joined us at 10am, and didn't leave us until we were down in the rave cave, late into the night. I have NEVER known a photographer like him!
Marquee - Really Good Marquees, the name says it all. Impeccable service, amazing quality marquee, and left it for the WHOLE weekend for us, just ideal!
Hair stylist - Brigitte Fisher. I wanted mermaid locks with plaits and flowers, and she truly gave me the hair I have dreamt of since I was a little girl. Brigitte was so kind, kept me calm, and gave all my bridesmaids the perfect styles personalised to them.
Colehayes clearly care about who they recommend, as the standard of suppliers was out of this world.

I could keep going for an age, but all I can really say is Colehayes were the very best venue, and gave us the dreamiest wedding. We are so, so grateful. Thank you

Colehayes was the perfect venue for our wedding day/weekend. We knew from the begginging a 1 day venue wasn’t enough for our friends and family who would be travelling from the southern hemisphere.

Having exclusive use of the house and grounds all weekend was brilliant and all ours guest loved being able to make themselves at home, pour their own pints and even enjoyed being given a job or two to make sure the wedding day was perfect!

The entire team are just the loveliest bunch to work with throughout the whole experience from initial booking and viewing through to checkout! The incredible helping hands team also need a special shout out for making sure the BIG day went off without a hitch!

We can’t thank you all enough and can’t wait to visit again soon!

Perfect venue for your DIY Wedding. The location is stunning and well cared for. The staff have been extremely helpful throughout the whole process and we would recommend Colehayes in heartbeat. They helped make our wedding the amazing day that it was.

We had our wedding here in September 2023 and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The staff are just fantastic, with great communication the whole way through the process, always striving to help and solve problems. The venue itself is stunningly beautiful but also practical enough that you can feel comfortable to do whatever you want without fear. We found it great value and offering more flexibility and freedom than other similar venues. We couldn't recommend it enough. If you're after a DIY venue this ticks all the boxes.

Colehayes is a beautiful DIY venue, where you can do as much or little as you wish. The grounds are stunning - a lake, firepit, pagoda, beautiful manor house and gardens. Within the house, there is a bar (which we stocked ourselves - no corkage!), gorgeous panelled hall, lounge, dining room and various kitchens. There are 75 beds which were very clean and well presented - including a great four poster master bedroom with a jacuzzi bath. In the basement, there is a pool table, table football, table tennis and a party room. We had the most amazing time - we were a midweek wedding so had 4 nights in the venue which made everything so enjoyable and gave plenty of time for fun and setting up with our favourite people. If you want support on the day, the "helping hands" team were amazing and kept our wedding running smoothly and offered great advice. An unforgettable experience - thank you Rebecca and team.

We hosted our wedding weekend at Colehayes and had THE best weekened of our lives. Such kind and frindly staff, an amazing manor that was all ours and the best thing was we could use whichever suppliers we wanted, stock our own bar and set our own rules!
