Penicuik Estate was the absolute best choice for our wedding, and I attribute all the magic of our day to this amazing venue. We had a small (16 people) destination wedding in late June 2026, and we were looking for a venue where we and our guests could stay at for at least 3 nights without needing to leave the property, have all our meals onsite, close to Edinburgh, convenient for people to travel to, and most importantly a place where everybody could be together. Penicuik met all our criteria. The venue is capable of holding both intimate and large gatherings, but we splurged for this venue for our intimate group, and I’m so happy we did. Everyone, and I mean everyone, still talks about how amazing the rooms were, how beautiful the estate was, and the amazing service! It honestly took all of our breaths away when we pulled up. It’s both the most elegant and glamorous place that I’ve ever stayed at, while simultaneously being a cozy retreat. I grieve every day that I’m not there, and I’m not exaggerating. I still dream about it! Also, their amazing partnership with Edinburgh Catering Company meant that our food, both breakfast and dinner dinners, were honestly some of the best meals we’ve ever had. Now I worked with a wedding planner (Amanda from COORIE) and so I didn’t interact too frequently with Penicuik on logistics. However, I did ask them to set up a heritage/history tour of the property on our first day, afternoon tea in the courtyard for our welcome party, and a whiskey tasting for our reception. Every event went off without a hitch and was more than I could’ve asked for. Now, to be honest, we booked this venue when it was still under renovations, so I’m assuming the price may have gone up since we booked. But I’d go back in a heartbeat, no question. It’s worth all we paid.

Penicuik Estate is simply taken from a fairy tale. Both the old house, and the newly renovated venue are amazing: aesthetically, service and location-wise. All of our guest flew/drove/took the train and they found it very easy to get to and enjoyed the grounds and the shared spaces which are all exquisite! The rooms are very well appointed, modern, plush and most of all incredibly welcoming. The house itself caters very well for small-medium weddings, and for anything more than 40 people, the Orangery is amazing. We ended up hiring it as it was ready in time for our big day and it was worth every dime. The chandeliers, the view and the fact that you don't have to move guests from the dining area to the the dance area and the bar (they can all fit in the Orangery) was a big plus for us! However, what made it a great experience, was the staff, starting with Amy who is an absolute gem. So welcoming and accommodating, always responsive and taking care of us and all our wild demands. Also, TECC, the caterers were stellar. Not only the food was delicious, but also their service on the day of, and the breakfast, and the drinks were just stunning. Cannot have asked for a better experience!

We got married at Penicuik in July 2026 with around 220 guests in attendance — and it was the most perfect day!

Whether you’re inviting 20 guests or 200, the estate has an abundance of gorgeous options for your celebration. We chose to have our ceremony in the rose garden, our drinks reception in the courtyard, and our reception in a marquee, erected beside the high pond — but there are many different equally gorgeous calibrations to explore. They also have a stunning orangery that can be used for ceremonies — if the weather doesn’t cooperate — or receptions.

The staff at Penicuik are so lovely, welcoming and so helpful!! Amy answered every question I had over the course of a year of planning, and when we were onsite (we stayed in the main house for 4 nights over the wedding weekend) the staff, particularly Arlene, could not have been more attentive. If I even thought about wanting a cup of coffee, Arlene seemed to materialize and offer to bring me one before I could even ask!

The estate is peaceful and beautiful, and the interiors of the main house and cottages are finished to the highest standard. You’ll leave wishing you come replicate all their interior design in your own home!

All in all, it is the most stunning wedding venue and I can’t wait to go back as soon as possible to celebrate an anniversary!

Every detail of the space was composed to create the most elegant atmosphere. Amazing bathtubs, comfy pillows, stunning spaces, and attentive staff all made the weekend perfect. Amy, Arlene, and David worked to make sure all of our guests were tended to, from teas and coffees to providing transportation around the property.
