There are four beautifully unique venues within Derby Museums for you to choose from. Flexible spaces are on offer to cater for the most intimate or extravagant of celebrations, from 5 to 250 guests, in whatever style suits you best.
The Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill. This is a Grade II listed UNESCO World Heritage property and is the site of the first factory in the world. Situated on The River Derwent, it is arguably the birthplace of the industrial revolution in 1721! This is currently undergoing a £17m refurbishment and is due to open Spring 2021. It has a stunning civic hall with a Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engine hanging as the centrepiece. The dedicated ground floor Italian Mill has an industrial look with bare brick walls and can host weddings, ceremonies and dinners for up to 180 people. Its riverside location combined with the historic industrial venue creates a unique and inspirational backdrop for any wedding.
The Museum and Art Gallery on The Wardwick. A 19th century grade II listed building has long stood as one of Derby's most iconic buildings- with its long and illustrious history spanning centuries - it is undeniably one of Derby city's premier wedding destinations. The Wardwick, boasts a splendour all of its own and is home to a fascinating range of nationally important collections. The classic Gothic architecture is a breath-taking backdrop for your wedding. It offers flexible spaces to cater for up to 200 guests, in whatever style suits you best.
The Museum and Art Gallery on The Strand – Situated adjacent to The Wardwick. Featuring several unique galleries licensed for your wedding ceremony, as well as larger galleries and spaces for your wedding breakfast, your day will be surrounded by the splendour and fascination of paintings and artefacts of local and international significance. The spaces are perfect for weddings of up to 120 guests so can be a wonderful setting for more intimate gatherings as well as those with a larger guest list.
Pickford’s House. This is a grade I listed townhouse museum with Georgian furniture and architecture. The grandeur of the master dining room is perfect for more intimate wedding of up to 25 guests. The beautiful Georgian Garden with fragrant herbs and the heady perfume of Jasmine filling the air, make it a delightful space for your ceremony or to enjoy drinks with your guests before your meal, as well as creating a wonderful backdrop for your photos.
