Torr Vale Mill was the perfect choice for our wedding (May 2025) - we wanted something totally us, customisable and unique. There were 4 areas in the venue to choose from and use as we saw fit, and enough room in the cottages for our immediate family to stay over night. We were so lucky with the weather to have an outdoor ceremony in the South Terrace! The events team (Emma and Rob) at Torr Vale Mill were easy to work with, super friendly and recommended excellent suppliers (Claire Market Chef). There are also some amazing vantage points for photos around the venue. Everything went perfectly and couldn't recommend this venue more. Photos by Maddie Farris.

Emma, Rob and the team were absolutely amazing and helped us to have the most perfect wedding day. From the early planning stages to the wedding day itself, Emma was always on hand for any queries and to offer suggestions that would help make the day go smoothly. The team provided a list of vendors that we could choose from or we could contact our own, which was really helpful as there was flexibility but we could also rely on vendors, such as our caterers, who knew the venue already.
The Mill and surrounding area is beautiful, with loads of places to take photographs as a couple and with the wedding party. We decided to do our portraits before the ceremony and the team were great in accommodating this. The Mill is also the perfect size with great facilities, we were able to invite all of the people who we wanted to celebrate with and everyone had a great time.
I would highly recommend this venue if you are looking for somewhere full of character with stunning surroundings and a team who are dedicated to creating the perfect wedding day for you.

We feel so happy to have got married at Torr Vale Mill! It is the most stunning location and it was such a fun day. We couldn’t speak more highly of the team who made sure everything went to plan. Emma and Rob in particular really do go above and beyond!

We met Rob at a wedding open day for Torr Vale Mill, and we chose it in part because the team were so relaxed - unlike other venues where it felt very much ‘copy and paste’ with weddings every week, at Torr Vale Mill we could choose our own caterers, and do things how we wanted to.

Emma was so responsive to all our many questions and kept everything running smoothly on the day - I still don’t quite know how all our guests ended up with the confetti but she must have arranged it! She was so kind and printed out a photo of our friend who couldn’t attend on the day due to ill health.

There were lots of other little touches like this that make Torr Vale Mill a special place to get married. You can really make it your own, and there are loads of beautiful spaces to get married in or celebrate with family and friends! We couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you!

I had seen pictures of this venue online and thought it looked so beautiful, I made an enquiry and we came to view the venue at their next opening day. We had both viewed several other venues at this point but none of them lived up to Torr Vale Mill. We knew there and then that we had to book this venue. The staff were lovely and accommodating, any request we had they sorted. The venue is stunning and the accommodation we had on site was perfect specially for me and my bridesmaids getting ready in the morning. Both me and my husband loved everything about Torr Vale Mill and so did our guests, it's set in such a beautiful location, the staff were brilliant and the venue is stunning we would definitely recommend this place for anyone who is wanting to get married.

Stunning venue that was really personal to us. The team were really great, flexible to our needs and help make our day run smoothly. A sticking point with this venue is that it's a big space and relatively empty. It'll give you the opportunity to put your stamp on the venue but it's a pretty daunting task, in such a large space. Especially as the venue's default chairs and tables weren't our vibe. All these extras will add to your day. Despite all this, we had an absolutely amazing day, wouldn't change it and highly recommend the venue and the team.

The Mill is in one of the most beautiful locations, situated on the edge of the river and framed by the millennium bridge. We received so many compliments from guests on how stunning the venue was. It's a venue that comes with no decorations, catering etc. meaning you need to be open to a project, as you'll have to hire and use lots of different vendors. That being said, they have a handy list of people to contact which definitely helps.

It also means there flexibility on most things, so you can decorate it to be completely unique & cater however you'd like. We used Claire Market Chef as caterer, who was incredible.

There isn't any flexibility on alcohol however - you have to use their bar throughout, which is quite suprising given there's autonomy on everything else (and expensive). Another thing to note is that you may not get access the day before for decorating (luckily it wasn't hired when we used it so we could), and have to clear everything out by 10am the day after, which can be tricky the day after your wedding.

The team were very easy to work with and responsive. On the day they were fantastic at making sure everything ran smoothly and that we didn't need to care about anything. They also gave us a bottle of wine and a Torr Vale blanket as a gift, which was such a lovely touch!

It even worked as a venue in the pouring rain. We got married on one of the wettest days of the year, and the main room is so large you can easily move your reception indoors and with the huge windows you still can see the beautiful views.

Would definitely recommend if you want somewhere truly special and unique! There's nowhere else we'd have wanted to celebrate our big day.

We got married at Torr Vale Mill at the start of September and we had an amazing day.

The venue itself is so beautiful, we loved it from the minute we visited- from the history, to the original architecture, to the onsite accommodation, and the surrounding views... you could get away with doing very little to dress it, but there is plenty of scope for you to put your own stamp on it too.

In the run up to the wedding Rob and Annabel were very responsive and flexible to any queries or last minute changes to the plans. On the day, the whole team were super organised, friendly, and helped the day to run as smoothly as did. If there were any issues, we were none the wiser!

We were very fortunate to have an outdoor ceremony and it was exactly how we imagined it to be. We didn’t want a very formal wedding but more a relaxed, fun and love-filled atmosphere and the venue and the team really delivered on this.

We're absolutely delighted with how everything turned out and if you’re looking for a venue that isn’t just your run of the mill (sorry I couldn’t help myself), then we would absolutely recommend Torr Vale Mill.

Wow, what can I say? From the second we walked down the path we were in love. It had all the charm of an intimate venue with the capacity for the bigger guest list that we wanted.

The staff were amazing and bent over backwards to make sure our day was perfect. I cannot fault anything at all.

We recently had our wedding at the beautiful Torr Vale Mill. As a small/medium size guest list of around 60 people, The Cotton Room was the perfect space for us as it was very spacious yet still with a cozy atmosphere. All of the historic details in the building, draped fairy lights, and gorgeous window views of the Millennium walkway and River Goyt all added to the romantic and warm ambience. As I am from the city and my husband is from a small town, we wanted our wedding to be a mix of both elaborate and rustic to ‘marry’ our two styles together into one. This venue was the perfect place to do just that! All of our friends loved the venue, and some have already asked for more details as they would like to consider it as their own potential wedding venue in the future! We also continue to have many say that our wedding is the best they’ve been to!
Aside from the beauty of the venue, what has impressed us most has been the support and helpfulness from the TVM team (in particular Robert and Emily), and the flexibility they gave us to make our wedding as personal as possible. Being given a variety of suppliers to choose from made us feel in control of having exactly what we wanted for our food and entertainment. As they were so organised, their help with planning the timeline of our day took a huge weight off of our shoulders, as we knew we could trust them with any questions, concerns, or doubts over even the smallest details. Nothing was ever too much for them, and you can clearly see that they take great pleasure in ensuring we had the best day possible.
Being a grade listed building, the main ways to access the venue involve steep stairs, which proved to be an issue for some guests with mobility problems. However, there is a longer, step free, way to get into the building. Although this is considered a downside, it is to be expected of a building that is 200 years old! If you plan to have your wedding here, it is best to discuss this with the staff in advance so that you can advise your guests the easiest way to get in/out.
In conclusion, we cannot thank Torr Vale Mill enough for their support and hospitality, not just for the wedding day but also for the many months of planning leading up to it!

We were the first couple to celebrate their wedding here over 10 years ago and friends are still talking about it! It's a beautiful and unique piece of British history on the edge of the Peak District. The room and space is big but that provided lots of flexibility without having to move furniture around so it made everything very relaxed. People could stay inside and party or go outside and enjoy the fresh air and flowing river. Most of our friend could stay really local as well so we could make a weekend of it, especially for those who travelled from further afield, some from abroad made it into a Peak District holiday. The venue also has so many places to take pictures from the millennium bridge to the race area, the internal stairwells and the woodland at the top, all very different and so many pictures of our special day.

We got married at Torr Vale Mill in 2022 with around 120 guests, and all their hard work, along with the amazing venue itself, made our day (and the preparations for it) exactly as we envisioned yet simple and stress free.

The venue itself is stunning, and provides a unique backdrop compared to hotels or converted barns that are common in the local area. In fact, our photographer may have been more excited to shoot there than we were! Not only do you have a great history to the venue that is very fitting of the local area, but it’s surrounded by natural views that create a relaxing environment and a variety of settings for photos. We also had some lovely feedback and compliments about the venue from all of our guests. Of course, the historical nature of the venue does mean there are some logistical limitations (such as no naked flames allowed, not scattering anything outside that can pollute the river, and a longer, more complex disabled/step free access route). However, it didn’t impact our plans at all, and the team were very transparent about it from the beginning and helped us find solutions where appropriate. In addition, while it may have the appearance of an older building, it has all the modern amenities you’d hope for inside, such as underfloor heating, modern bathrooms, a small kitchen area and a great AV set up, including speakers, microphones and a large TV, (without taking away from the character of the mill itself indoors).

The accommodation on site is a good size, well furnished and decorated, and made housing our immediate family for the wedding really convenient, as well as providing the space for the bridal party to get ready on the day (with no excuse to be late, as it’s literally over the path from the event space!) While there weren’t a huge amount of other accommodation options nearby in New Mills for our whole guest list, there were multiple hotels at different price points within a 30 minutes drive that suited our 100+ guest list, which involved some extra organisation for pre-booked taxis and car sharing etc.

The flexibility and personalisation options available at Torr Vale Mill were the main selling points for us, and with open communication from the beginning we were able to create the exact day we were hoping for. We were able to choose our own vendors (such as caterers), work the timeline exactly to our choosing, had flexibility in decorating the room, had access to a huge selection of furniture owned by the mill, and could tailor the bar to our needs. Throughout all of this, the team were always happy to discuss any ideas we had and worked with us to execute our vision. For example, we were able to hire two caterers for the day (one for the main meal and one for canapes/dessert); one of which had worked with Torr Vale before, and one that was a brand new vendor for them. The team at Torr Vale Mill communicated closely with both vendors in advance for set up plans and any relevant safety restrictions to ensure smooth delivery on the day, and the execution was flawless. In another example, they worked with us to tailor our plan for the bar all day (welcome drinks, speech drinks, substituting some drink brands for others, sourcing a special drinks request for the top table, and how host provided / guest purchased drinks were billed), and all at great value for money. Additionally, they offered a selection of extra items with transparent pricing, such as linens, extra staff members and decorations with no pressure to upsell, allowing us to choose only what we needed.

The costs associated with Torr Vale Mill were perfect for our budget, and the ability to tailor add ons and bar tabs etc meant we only ever paid for what we needed with no unexpected bills at the end. Everything they offered was good value for money and entirely transparent, and we definitely felt we got our money’s worth.

The team (and in particular Rob and Phillippa) were amazing to work with right from our first visit to the final bills being settled just after the wedding itself, and we can’t thank them enough! Their communication with us was regular and clear, but never overbearing or forceful, and their direct communication with our vendors was a massive help for us to ensure a smooth day without us feeling like unnecessary middle men in the logistics conversations. Their coordination support on the day, from making sure the caterers were set up correctly and the room was laid out/turned around as planned, all the way through to AV setup and announcing our couple’s entrance to the reception, made our day a breeze, and meant we had nothing to worry about. Plus, the other staff they had on hand both behind the bar and walking amongst the guests were professional yet friendly, creating a lovely environment.

Overall we would absolutely recommend Torr Vale Mill as a wedding venue, and we were totally delighted with the day! From the staff to the built in bar, transparent planning sessions, vendor flexibility, on site accommodation and the stunning buildings themselves, we made the venue our own, with no additional stress and all within budget.
