Speech

First of all I must say a big thank you to my shiny new Father in-law for his kind words.  I have been looking forward to saying this for a long time now, It gives me huge pleasure and pride to say to you all, Ladies and Gentleman on behalf of my wife and I”, we would like to thank everybody for coming today. It means so much to us to see all of our family & friends here to celebrate one of the happiest days of our lives. Now as is custom, there will be a few toasts during this speech, so please make sure you don't down the whole glass at the first toast…Mentioning no names, Andy & Josh…………….  I was rather nervous about this speech today, as many of you may know I'm not one for public speaking, but one advantage of standing here, reading my speech to you all today is that, it's highly likely this will be the first and last time I get to speak in public in front of my wife and mother in-law without being interrupted or corrected, and it's a privilege and honour to do so.

Parents My first thanks have to be to Wendy and Brian for all of their hard work, and time spent organising this fantastic day. I have been blown away by your kindness and support in helping Alyson and I prepare for the wedding of our dreams. We honestly could not have done it without you. Wendy, your organisational skills are second to none and I can see where Alyson gets it from Traditionally I am supposed to thank you both at this point for welcoming me into your family, but it seems strange for me to do that today as you have both made me feel like a part of your family from the very beginning. Since I first met Aly, I have always looked forward to coming round to your house to see you both whether it be for a coffee with you Wend or to watch the football with Brian. I genuinely could not have asked for nicer in-laws and I look forward to the free dinners for years to come! I would also like to thank you both for allowing me to marry your beautiful Daughter. I love Alyson with all of my heart and will do everything I can to make her happy. I won't let you down.

So, Ladies and Gentleman please raise your glasses in a toast to Brian & Wendy.! (Toast) Brian & Wendy Bridesmaids Now on to our wonderful bridesmaids Emma & Lucy – you both look beautiful, I'm sure everybody here will agree. I'd just like to say a massive thank you on behalf of Alyson and myself for agreeing to be a part of our special day and making sure Alyson got to the church on time and didn't back out. On that note & as a sign of our appreciation – we have a little gift for you. Ladies & Gentleman, could you please raise your glasses, and join me in a toast to our beautiful Bridesmaids. (Toast) Emma & Lucy A big thank you to both my best men Rhys & Darren – you have both done a great job today. For those who don't know them Rhys is the one with the dodgy laugh who looks a bit like a ginger Dermott O'Leary, and if you don't know Darren, I'm sure you will meet him at some point tonight, especially if you've got nice legs and a short skirt. Thank you also to our Usher Ian. You have done an excellent job today, especially the way you searched handbags and frisked pockets on the way into the ceremony room with such discretion. Now I've heard there is an unwritten rule of wedding etiquette that states nobody should look as handsome as the groom… So, on that note I would like to thank Darren, Rhys & Ian for sticking to that rule. As a token of our appreciation – We have a little gift for you each. Once again, could you please raise your glasses, and join me in a toast to our Best Men & Usher. “BEST MEN & USHER”

Page Boys & Flower Girl A big thank you must also go to our page boys and flower Girl, boys all three of you look so handsome and Summer you look beautiful, you have all done an amazing job today and have all been so well behaved. We have a few gifts for you if you want to come collect them.

Ladies and Gentleman please raise your glasses in a toast to Pageboys & Flower Girl

Now onto my gorgeous wife… Alyson – you look absolutely stunning today. I want everyone here to know how lucky I feel to be here right now. Alyson is beautiful, intelligent, funny, caring – the list is endless but unfortunately I can't read the rest of her writing! In the run up to this wedding – I've learnt a lot. Whenever Aly is right, and I'm wrong – admit it. Whenever she is wrong and I'm right – keep quiet. I first met Alyson in T-Mobile and she stole my heart the moment I saw her. Even if she didn't accept my offer of a lift home from work. Not the greatest of chat up lines I know. But here we are 3 ½ years down the line married with a gorgeous son Carter. Alyson has been more than my best friend and my soul mate she has also been the most amazing step mother in the world. As most of you know Alyson didn't just accept me into her life she also accepted my sons and has treated them and loved them as her own since day one and I cannot thank you enough for what you have done for us. Aly, you really do look amazing today. When I saw you walking down the aisle I was blown away. It's an absolute honour to call you my wife. Thank you for marrying me and making me the happiest man alive and for loving me as much as I love you. I know this is the start of many, many happy years together. So Ladies and Gentlemen, please be upstanding, for the most important toast I'm ever likely to make, to my Wife, my bride and my absolute world, to Alyson. Right before I pass you over to both my Best Men for their speeches, I must make you aware that they both strangely & unfortunately suffer from the same rare medical condition that makes them prone to exaggeration. It makes them believe that fanciful events in their head actually really did happen, however I can assure you they didn't. That's enough from me I would like to thank you all once again and hope you have a great evening It now gives me great pleasure to hand over to Rhys and Darren.
