About Judith Parkyn Photography

Hello, I’m Judith – a documentary wedding photographer based in the Cotswolds, UK. My approach is discreet and unobtrusive, meaning I observe rather than direct. I capture your day as it happens and everything that makes it unique as well as the moments you loved and the bits you may not have seen.

If you’re a couple that doesn’t feel comfortable posing in front of a camera and prefers a much more natural approach to wedding photography, you’ve come to the right place! Couples I’ve worked with say their photos bring back the emotions and excitement of the day and that they felt very much at ease in front of the camera because they hardly noticed me. I love photographing people and believe that the best photos are often taken when people aren’t aware of it, so the vast majority of the photos you will receive from me will be completely natural.

I’ve had the pleasure of photographing over 100 weddings so far in Bristol, Bath, the Cotswolds and throughout the South West of the UK. If you’re getting married further afield or even abroad don’t stop reading, I love to travel and would be more than happy to join you on your travels.

"Can’t say enough about how happy we are with the photographs from our big day! I am so glad we found Judith, the way she works is exactly what we were after. You don’t know she is there, we see what she captured and we had no clue she was at the ready with her camera. A story of our day is what we have and reliving those memories is the best gift we received. Professional, friendly and an expert at what she does, putting you at ease and being a part of your day you didn’t know you had. Thank you so much Judith."

"Judith photographed our wedding at The Barn at Berkeley in November 2018. She made the whole process very easy and relaxed, as neither of us are particularly comfortable in front of the camera! At times we even forgot Judith was there as she was so discreet! She captured all of the important moments of the day in a natural way and we couldn't be happier with our photos! We would highly recommend Judith Parkyn Photography!"

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of your service?

Standard wedding package: £1195.00

What services do you offer?

Bespoke engagement shoots. Full-day documentary wedding photography. High quality wedding albums. Contact me to find out more!

What does the wedding package include?

The standard wedding package includes an initial consultation to chat about your day and get to know one another, all day coverage (up to 10 hours), 350+ high resolution digital images and 20 prints of your choice.

How far in advance should I contact you?

As soon as you have booked your wedding venue drop me a line to check my availability for your date. Most of my Saturdays between March-October get booked up at least 12 months in advance.

Do you cover more than one wedding a day?

No. I only cover one wedding per day.

Are you able to travel?

Yes, I travel anywhere including abroad.

What is the charge for travelling?

I only charge for travel expenses if the location is further than 50 miles from my postcode (SN16 0NS).

What style of photos do you take?

As a documentary wedding photographer, 90% of the photos you will receive from me will be completely natural. Couples I’ve worked with say they hardly noticed me. And most of the time, that’s what I aim for – to blend in and observe, anticipate emotions and capture these in an unobtrusive way. I say most of the time, because there are times when I’ll have to raise my voice in order to gather everyone and manage the situation.

What kind of equipment do you use?

On the day itself I use two Nikon full-frame DSLRs and multiple lenses and flashguns. I'm not the type of photographer who carries a lot of equipment because I like to be as "invisible" as possible in order to capture all those special moments that happen throughout the day.

Do you offer any tool to display the photos online?

Within a couple of days after your wedding you will receive a link to a secure online gallery with up to 5 preview shots. Once the remaining images have been edited I will upload those to the gallery for you as well. The online gallery makes it very easy for you to share the images with your friends and family.

Do you send all the photos taken?

I often take over 1000 photos per wedding day. My job is to visually tell the story of your day in the most beautiful and creative way. That means I select only the best images that help to tell this story without too much repetition. Rest assured that the final selection of images you receive will include all parts of the day and the majority, if not all, of your guests.

Do you work alone or do you have a team of professionals?

I work alone but am always happy to work with second shooters and videographers.

In case of unforeseen circumstances, do you have a replacement photographer?

I have a network of experienced photographers with a similar style that I can call upon in the event of me being unable to make it. So far, this has never been necessary as I've never not made it to a wedding.

If needed, would you be able to work extra hours?

Yes. I often get asked to stay longer and this is not a problem at all. I charge £99 per hour for extra hours.
