      The perfect wedding venue
About 2.5 years ago we happened to stumble across Alexander House Hotel and we both fell in love with it. The mix of traditional country house hotel with a modern style was exactly the kind of hotel we like. While it has all the facilities you would expect from a top-end luxury hotel, it is small enough to feel welcoming and intimate. The bedrooms are extremely comfortable and the bathrooms are absolutely amazing. However, the thing that really makes Alexander House stand out from its competitors is its staff – from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave you are made to feel very welcome and their attention to every detail really does make it a truly special place to visit. When we got engaged six months later there was only one place that we wanted as our wedding reception venue - Alexander House. Over our two year engagement we visited the hotel a number of times for meals and for a weekend break. Each time we went our confidence that we had picked the right venue grew. We knew that the Jonathan (General Manager), Katie (our wedding coordinator) and the rest of the team would ensure everything would go to clockwork. The night before the wedding we had a large family meal in Alexander’s Restaurant (now called AG’s Grill Room). James, the Restaurant Manager, and his team did the hotel proud. The food was fantastic and the service was friendly yet professional. Everyone was raving about the fantastic evening we had. Our wedding day didn’t start off quite as planned with heavy snow falling overnight. We were really worried that our wedding wouldn’t be able to take place. Jonathan and Katie were quick to put both of our minds at ease. I have dreamt of my wedding all my life and having it at Alexander House made my dream come true. I would almost say that the worst thing about having our wedding reception there was that it is 2 months on and our guests are still talking about the amazing meal we had rather than my dress! We had a few guests with dietary requirements and the hotel went out of their way to cater for them. A good example of this was my bridesmaid who has a dairy intolerance. For our dessert we had chosen crème brulee. However, rather than taking the easy option of preparing her a fruit salad or similar, the chefs just took this as a challenge and managed to make her a specific dairy-free crème brulee. We know that being able to eat what looked the same as everyone else’s dessert made her day. These little touches made our day magical – and in the end the snow just turned out to be the icing on the cake! Our wedding was Katie’s last as wedding coordinator at Alexander House. However we have also dealt with Jennifer and are in no doubt that the Events Team at Alexander House would all make sure a wedding day was every bride and groom’s dream come true. We have absolutely no doubts in recommending Alexander House as a wedding venue. In fact we love it so much, we have already been back to celebrate our first Valentine’s Day as husband and wife, and are booked in for our first anniversary!

      Our Perfect Day
After weeks of snow, we arrived at Alexander House on the morning of our wedding in beautiful January sunshine, from that moment on we knew our day would be extra special. We also knew we had nothing to worry about, as Jen Irwin, our wedding co-ordinator, had planned everything with us, down to the last meticulous detail, we were in good hands! Alexander House is a beautiful hotel with oak panelling, crystal chandeliers, and roaring fires, but it is the level of service and attention to detail that sets it apart from other wedding venues. Our ceremony was held in the Library, which was transformed into a romantic setting full of candles, the soft winter light flooding through the windows, adding to the ambience of the room. After, our guests enjoyed champagne and canapés in the newly decorated South Lounge (a bit of a surprise, they were still painting it the day before, but none the less adding to the fun of the day). The wedding breakfast was held in the Shelley Suite, once again this room had been transformed into a magical candlelit space. The food on the day was exceptional, even better than at our menu tasting a few weeks before. All of our guests commented on how wonderful the venue was, how the staff had the perfect balance between being attentive and unobtrusive, and how fabulous the food was. Although Alexander House hosts many weddings throughout the year, we were made to feel as if we were the only couple to have ever held our special day there, and nothing was too much trouble. Our special thanks go to Jen Irwin, an absolute star, who always has a smile. Thanks to Alexander House we have so many wonderful memories.

Perfect venue for a perfect day!
We had an amazing wedding at Alexander House - it was the perfect venue for what turned out to be the perfect day! The service we received throughout all of the planning and the actual day itself was outstanding with special thanks to our wedding co-ordinator Jen who was fantastic and always went out of her way to help us! Our wedding day was everything we could have wished for!

      Alexander House was wonderful!
On a sunny November 7 2009 we arrived at Alexander House for our wedding breakfast. Greeted on arrival by Jen Irwin, our fabulous Event Manger, with a glass of champagne kicked off what was a most wonderful day. Venue was beautiful and everything went exactly to plan. We were very impressed with every single member of staff at Alexander House who completed their work with a quiet efficiency. Nothing was too much trouble. We would recommend AH to anyone looking for a wedding venue. The run up and the event itself was so well managed by Jen and the other members of the Alexander House team it meant we had nothing to worry about before or on the day. Everything was executed to such a high standard from the flowers by Zara Flora to the lovely food which was a very high standard. We can't wait to visit again to celebrate our first anniversary.

      Fabulous wedding day
Nothing but good memories of a spectacular wedding held in Alexander House in December. All held together magnificently by all the staff and Jennifer who coordinated the day. It's the little attention to detail and willingness of everyone to ensure your stay is up to their expectations and without doubt it was. Bizarrely I will always remember sitting out in the hot tub in the garden in the freezing cold before the wedding brought us back to reality. Once again I can only praise the staff and Jennifer and send them my thanks for making our sons wedding a wonderful memory

Everything you could possibly wish for..
Alexander House was the perfect venue for our wedding, it ticked all the right boxes as a venue goes but most of all it was the attention to detail that Jen the Co-Ordinator gave to our needs. Originally we planned to marry in August 2010 but we had to bring wedding forward to 14th November 2009. Jen took care of all our needs. Everything was so smoothly run. The food was fantastic and better than the original food tasting session. The buffet was absolutely 1st class and the whole day we felt it was our dream had come true. Thanks to Jen everything was perfect.

      Perfect Day
When you’re considering your wedding venue it’s not so much a question of ‘why should you choose Alexander House?’, but more ‘Why wouldn’t you?’ Right from the outset we were made to feel that it was all about us. Katie Ratcliffe gave us a complete tour of the hotel and its facilities. The Hotel’s pricing model is completely transparent and was yet still open to flexibility dependant on our specific needs. Katie assisted us with the planning every step of the way. We were wed in the library which was completely transformed by the staff at the hotel. Unfortunately Katie could not be present on the day, but Jenny Irwin stepped in - Katie and Jenny obviously work very closely with each other as Jenny knew every detail of the day. As part of the package the bride and groom have a menu tasting evening prior to the wedding. Our selections were prepared faultlessly on the day and our wedding breakfast was a big hit with all our guests. The staff at the hotel ran the day for us impeccably and were always attentive without being overbearing. As bride and groom you have choice of one of two suites for your wedding night, whichever your choice you will not be disappointed - they are huge! Some of our guests also stayed at the hotel and they all said how lovely their rooms were at breakfast the next day which incidentally was served for us and our guests in a private room away from the rest of the hotel guests. You and your guests also get to use the spa facilities the next day if you so wish. All in all we really couldn’t fault the hotel or its staff and we will be back there well before our 1st anniversary.

      Incredible venue and incredible service!!
The photos of Alexander House speak for themselves - it really is a beautiful and intimate venue. However, what really sets Alexander House apart is the level of service and the care taken by the events organisation/wider Alexander House team. As soon as we saw the venue and met with our organiser, Katie Ratcliffe, we knew we wanted to book the venue for our wedding and wedding celebrations. Katie was absolutley fantastic throughout the wedding planning process she truely is an asset to Alexandre House!and was always on hand to answer our queries and emails, of which there were many! When the morning of the wedding arrived and I was getting ready before the ceremony at Alexander House I didn''t have to worry about a thing and everything was taken care of without me having to know/worry about a thing. All of our guests have commented on what a lovely day it was and how fantastic the staff and venue were. Alexander really did help us orgnaise a wedding that was all we could have wished for and more. We would highly recommend Alexander House as a venue for your wedding and/or your wedding celebrations!!

      Wedding of the Year!!
I’m the groom and my Wedding Day was on Saturday 26th September 2009. It was an amazing day!! We visited many venues before coming to Alexander House and we are pleased we did save Alexander House to last as it gave us plenty to compare it with. We definitely saved the best to last! Alexander House has a long driveway leading to the entrance of the hotel. The hotel itself is very stunning with beautiful grounds. Leading up to our big day our Wedding Planner Katie receives top marks for all her planning and all the organising of our big day. Even down to pre and post Ceremony music! My wife and I clicked with Katie and got on superbly well! Meeting with the Head Chef on the terrace with a glass of Champaign was fantastic way to spend a warm sunny evening discussing our menu options. The menu tasting was excellent, especially the wine tasting with their Sommelier! We visited Alexander House many times leading up to the Wedding showing our parents, Ushers and the Bridesmaids around the Hotel. We were always felt very welcomed when we visited. Even felt like our 2nd home! When the big day arrived, we couldn’t have asked for anything more. The weather was fantastic, which just made the hotel and its grounds look amazing. The staff on the day all went the extra mile giving us a superb service and a worry free time! It was all smooth flowing moving the guests from the lawns & terrace to the Ceremony room, back to the lawns & terrace before finally moving to the Shelly & Wakefield for the Wedding Breakfast & Reception. The Ceremony was in the South Lounge which was just perfect! The Wedding Breakfast was fantastic, the food was hot! After the speeches the staff turned the room around and the disco had started! My wife and I highly recommend Alexander House!

      We couldn''t ask for more
From the outset we both knew that Alexander House would be perfect and it didn''t let us down, neither did the staff. We origionally had Amy as our wedding coordinator who was fanstastic. Unfortunately she left and Jennifer Irwin took over and we couldn''t have asked for a better person. She was brilliant and didn''t mind my constant e-mails to her constantly asking her questions. She took all the stress away from me and made the Shelly Suite look beautiful. Alexander House itself was a superb venue. The grounds were lovley and we couldn''t have asked for more. The food was fantastic to which eveyone loved. Nothing went worng during the day, with thanks to Jen and Maddie Copper who oversaw the wedding breakfast. I think even if they had we wouldn''t have noticed as we were having such a good day. I wish I could do it all again. We would like to thank all the staff who helped made our day so wonderful.
