The King's Arms boasts the historic Casterbridge Room which was named in Thomas Hardy's honour, the novelist wrote much of The Mayor of Casterbridge in the light - filled and stylish bow-windowed room. We offer an intimate space with comfortable furniture for your welcome drinks. The area also includes a blend of poetic and elegant decor, from paintings to carpets. The room is brightly lit with old-fashioned lamps and colourful pendant lights. The Casterbridge Room can accomodate up to 35 people for your special day.

Downstairs, we have the beautiful Old Smoking Room which is perfectly decorated in keeping of The Casterbridge Room. You have the option to hire both of these rooms for your special day which allows extra space for reception drinks and canapes whilst we transform the Casterbridge Room from ceremony to wedding breakfast.

We also offer The Casterbridge Room as a ceremony room only, at a reduced price.
