The Kedleston Country House is a stunning Georgian property dating back to 1760. It was designed by renowned architect Robert Adam as a former coaching inn for Kedleston Hall, and many of the original quirks are still a prominent feature today.
After falling into disrepair, the building was lovingly restored by Derby Brewing Company and reopened in 2015 with a license for civil weddings and wedding receptions.
The Kedleston Country House stands proudly on the edge of the Kedleston Hall estate, just a stones throw away from Derby City Centre, but surrounded by the most idyllic countryside. Whether you visualise your guests enjoying a cocktail in the Georgian walled gardens, or cosying up by the roaring fireplace in the Snug with a hot mulled wine, we invite you to make this Country House your home for your wedding celebrations.
We are delighted to offer you the choice of two rooms that are both licensed for civil ceremonies, each with their own unique characteristics: The Orangery - Seating up to 70 Guests - is flooded with natural light and overlooking Derbyshire countryside. The main feature is a stunning sky light which runs along the length of the aisle. Alternatively, The Restaurant - Seating up to 50 Guests, has classic oak flooring and draped Georgian windows. The Restaurant is perfect for intimate ceremonies of up to 50 guests.
After you’ve said ‘I do...’, you are welcome to enjoy reception drinks and canapes on the terrace or in the snug. If the sun is shining, why not provide some garden games to keep your guests entertained? During this time, your photographer can whisk you away for photos in the house and its grounds - there are some gorgeous locations dotted around the property that will make stunning backdrops or your photos. Plus, with the National Trust Kedleston Hall just down the road, we can even arrange for your photos to be taken in their grounds if you wish.
Whilst you're having your photographs taken, our kitchen team will be busy preparing your wedding breakfast.
Your food and drink choice is a huge part of your wedding day, which is why we strive to ensure your Wedding Breakfast is totally personal to you. We use locally sourced produce where available, alongside fresh ingredients grown in the kitchen garden, and will use their expertise to provide a menu that suits all of your needs. As Kedleston Country House is owned by Derby Brewing Company, you can rest assured that you’ll never be without a delicious drink in your hand. Specialising in cask ales and craft beers, you’ll also find a selection of lagers, wines and spirits too. You can even enjoy a glass of Kedleston Country House Gin!
For your evening celebrations, The Orangery can be transformed into the perfect space for a party of up to 120 guests. Whether you’re hoping to have a DJ or a band, the room layout is flexible enough to accommodate your needs. After dinner and dancing, why not make the most of our gorgeous boutique bedrooms so you can kick off your dancing shoes and head straight upstairs after your celebrations?
