It is a gorgeous hotel with history, the perfect location for our wedding. With only 7 months to plan our wedding Lyndsey and Georgia helped us bring our wedding vision to life. They gave us confidence with planning our wedding, fantastic at answering my list of questions and offered flexible options to ensure that our wedding day is special to us.

On the actual wedding day, the Mere Court Team did a fantastic job making sure everything went smoothly across the day. Our wedding guests complimented on how pretty the venue is and the food they provided us on the day (we decided to have Hog roast instead of a traditional sit down wedding breakfast and greek gyros in the evening). Our guests have also said they liked how the rooms in the hotel were traditional and elegant.

Wedding planning with the venue went well but the day of the wedding so much went wrong, venue haven't even apologised even though they have acknowledged they didn't do what had been agreed

Final meeting
During the final meeting they asked us if there was any particular drinks we’d like to be served on the day, we requested Peroni, Madri, desperado, can soft drinks and fruit shoots, only drink out the list we had was Peroni which the owner had to go to Tesco for mid way through the day

Final Bill
When we made the final changes in numbers and added additional drinks the final bill came over showing a total of £16,333.06 which I knew was incorrect, I then went through the whole contract and changes made and the correct gross total was £11,044.05, this isn’t small change it’s a massive amount of money

Rooms
Was advised that we could move people around so that we could pick what guests would stay in the feature rooms near us, I spent an hour swapping and changing people around for this to be totally ignored

Welcome drinks (before ceremony)
I asked for fruit shoots and can soft drinks for the kids, instead they were given J20’s which I didn’t want as I didn’t want small children walking about with glass bottles

Ceremony
I spoke with Sarah the morning of the wedding and advised that I needed 6 seats either side of the aisle (12 in a row in total) she repeated this back to me to confirm, yet when I walked down the aisle there was 4 chairs either side which then left important wedding party individuals scrambling around looking for somewhere to it
Registrar never had a microphone on so the guests even 2 rows back couldn’t hear what she/us were saying

Processional Songs
When the bridesmaids started their aisle walk no music came on so they walked down the aisle to silence, they then held me back while they fixed what ever the problem was, they then gave me the nod to start walking but as I got nearer the top of the aisle I could hear that the bridesmaid song was playing, not the song I had taken months to decide on for my walk, it wasn't even an appropriate bridal song

During our drinks reception I wanted to nip back the room to freshen up, only when I got there none of our things from the get ready room had been placed in the bridal suit (even though i had been told to pile all the stuff up and it would be moved) i think spent 20 minutes trying to track my belongings and moving them myself from one side of the hotel in my long wedding dress

Drinks reception
We paid for £315 to upgrade to Aperol & limoncello spritz yet was served Pimm’s instead of the limoncello and instead of the cocktails being served in a glasses ready for guests to take (which was pre-agreed), they were served in jugs right next to the jugs of kids juice, one of my nephews helped himself to what he thought was lemonade only when my brother realised took it off him

Call to dinner
This was supposed to be at 4.15 so that we could start the speeches at 4.30 however I noticed at 4.40 everyone was still sat outside and I had to then start calling people in myself, we then didn’t enter the wedding breakfast till 5pm so this put all the timings behind with the evening guests turning up while we was still eating desert – the timings were on our function sheet

Dinner
List of dietary requirements & kids meals were given and also a table plan, so they knew what table they were sat on, I told Sarah the morning of the wedding that there had been some movement but that the dietary requirements were still the same, We had 1 pescetarian that was supposed to be served salmon instead was served fish goujons, Some children had to wait a while for starters as staff gave teen guests the kids starters by mistake, We picked soup for our started to accommodate the gluten free, dairy free & vegetarians etc, the soup was served with croutons, we had 3 people who were gluten free, I had to run around to tell them not to eat the soup as it wasn't gluten free (due to the added croutons)
We paid £470 for Peroni to be placed on the tables in ice buckets, they placed Corona & Heineken randomly with no ice bucket, these became warm after 20 minutes so guests where up and down the bar getting replacement's until the Peroni ran out
We paid £418 to upgrade the wine and these were just left on the tables with no ice bucket, again just sat getting warm and had to be swapped out
We also paid extra for prosecco and again these sat warm on the tables and had to be swapped out

Evening reception
We had agreed that we would put £1,000 behand the bar for beer & wine once evening guests arrived, this was to be put on our room for us to settle the next day, my husband when the bar about 8.30pm and was charged for his drinks, we then realise that guests had been paying themselves and the bar tab had not been put on
One of the bar staff started moving chairs away at 11.55pm even though we had paid £200 to extend the bar till 1am, when he was questioned why he was doing this, he said because you had a wedding on the next day, it was pointed out that there was a wedding on now and he simply shrugged his shoulders, the guest then said to the staff member ‘your acting like you don’t even want us here’ and this member of staff replied with ‘maybe we don’t’ I
The same member of staff was clearing the room decorations away at 12.30pm

any one of these things in isolation would have been brushed off but so much went wrong on the day that didn't need to if they would have just been a but more organised.

The lack of accountability from the venue following my email to them is shocking to say the least and the reason I would recommend people avoid this place

From the moment I visited Mere Court I knew this was my place. The grounds are so peaceful and the charm of the hotel is delightful. The flow of the wedding rooms works extremely well and the new owner and his staff are just fantastic! We couldn’t have wished for a more perfect venue that all our guests enjoyed and commented on how wonderful our day had been! The food was amazing, they controlled the day extremely well we were never left wondering what was happening and when it all just naturally flowed and believe me on your wedding day this is exactly what you require!
If you charm and character this is certainly the hotel for you! What a fabulous day. Thank you to all at Mere Court Hotel for memories we will treasure forever.

Mere Court Hotel was the perfect venue for our wedding and I am so glad we chose it!

When we were looking for a venue, we were looking for a number of things. We wanted it to be relatively close to Manchester, not far from Manchester Airport, big enough for the numbers we had in mind, and the option to have exclusive use. Mere Court ticked every box.

Georgia was our contact at the venue and she was amazing! She was very organised and knowledgeable and provided lots of great tips. On the wedding day itself, she was so calm and composed and it reassured us that everything would run smoothly. The rest of the staff at the venue were really nice as well and we had so many of our guests tell us how great the staff, food and atmosphere was.

The venue is beautiful and the grounds are really nice – there are so many places to get amazing photos! I would definitely recommend Mere Court Hotel for your wedding day.

A week on from our wedding day, we wanted to share our extremely positive experience of our wedding at Mere Court.

In the lead up to our big day, we felt that our wedding coordinator Georgia was there for us whenever we had any questions. Our queries were answered in a timely fashion, with another member of the team able to help out should Georgia be on leave. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble.

On the day itself, the team at Mere Court were there to make sure everything ran smoothly and to time - we didn't feel like we had anything to worry about and were able to focus on having the best of times with our family and friends.

The food was incredible - we knew this following our menu tasting and the wedding breakfast did not disappoint. The breakfast at the hotel had something for everyone and guests staying the night before also commented on how good the a la carte dining experience was.

As an allergy sufferer - I also want to highlight how appreciative I was of the flexibility offered to cater for dietary requirements throughout the day. It was the little details - such as specially prepared meals for gluten free and vegan guests alongside the evening buffet - that confirmed to us that Mere Court was the right choice for us.

In summary, from the first time we visited Mere Court we felt that the team would go above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful wedding day. When reflecting on our wedding day we are still absolutely certain that the choice was the right one.

Have to say I was impressed with this venue / price at the beginning and with our initial enquiries. However, as our wedding got nearer to the date, we were let down… we had our meeting in the lead up to the wedding where we sat down with everything we required for day (I even produced a booklet for everything that needed to be done). We had several wedding coordinators throughout our planning process, but a week before our wedding we went to email our ‘final’ coordinator and we were then surprised to get an out of office message to say the coordinator was on annual leave for two weeks (including our wedding date) with no prior warning or handover. Due to this lack of communication / handover we were left on the day with several decorations that were not correct. There were candles placed in jars which flowers were due to go in and should have been filled with water. We were also let down by on the day with the catering. We’d paid for nearly 100 guests to have x3 canapés. On the day, we were lucky if 30 guests were offered canapés. Myself and husband as bride and groom were not even offered any! I had to ask my bridesmaids partner to find some before I passed out! On his way back from the kitchen (by request) he was hassled by many guests to have the canapés who had clearly not been offered any. The issues with catering didn’t end there. We selected a baked vanilla cheesecake and the last table of friends to be served were offered a different cheesecake which was raspberry. Not a big issue for most, but when you’ve gone through a tasting and sent in a specific amount of desserts ordered you’d expect what you ordered to be supplied. My friends said it looked like they’d run out and just went to Tesco and got a cheesecake in. This then meant these guests didn’t eat dessert because they did not like what they were offered. Again, the evening do we ordered x120 people bbq and the burgers ran out before we even got there. Again, I feel like the venue cut numbers but charged us full price and did not supply what we wanted. I was also assured my friend who was gluten free would be accounted for. When she asked for the gluten free canapés she was just shown what was on offer and to everyone (even though I was assured she would receive a separate portion to specific for her). Although the venue was nice, these things just let the day down and it is a shame to hear these stories from guests who were also let down on the day.

We got married here 3 weeks ago and had THE most perfect wedding you could wish for.
Ours was a last-minute wedding, (only booked in March) and from initial contact with Megan and follow-on support from Lyndsey, the whole process ran smoothly. Nothing was too much trouble and they have so much experience, they know the answers to all your questions.
It was a large wedding, with 145 guests, and we had full use of the hotel on the most stunning day of the year. Hot weather meant we could have our ceremony outside in the beautiful grounds and enjoy the lakeside terrace late into the evening. The conservatory makes a fabulous setting for the wedding breakfast, entertainment and disco, and the food and wine were fantastic.
Lyndsey was on hand most of the day as wedding co-ordinator, making sure that everything ran smoothly and on time, and then Robbie took over for the rest of the evening. (We even had a medical emergency which he took care of). You are in safe hands with these two.
Our guests said it was the best wedding they had been to, and this was thanks to the stunning hotel and relaxed, but professional manner of the staff.

Amazing, amazing, amazing. That sums up Mere Court. From the start of planning to the finish of our big day the could not accommodate us more. Megan and James were so professional throughout the planning phase and they delivered and more on thr big day. All of the guests could not compliment the venue enough. If you want a beautiful countryside setting which is steeped in history... Book the Mere Court. You won't regret it

Lyndsey and Megan were absolutely amazing when we had our wedding here on 7th September. From the minute we booked the venue nothing was too much trouble - Lyndsey was always at the end of the phone or email. I really can not put into words how amazing the day was and this was down to the staff at mere court. On the day everything was swiftly turned around and we didn’t have to think about anything because Lyndsey and Megan were already 2 steps ahead! Food was perfect as were the rooms. this venue is also very reasonably priced compared to other venues we got a lot more for our money compared to others in the area. I would highly recommend mere court thank you so much for everything x

We had our wedding here on Saturday, it was perfect from start to finish. The whole day ran so smoothly and the lead up to it was made so easy and stress free by the amazing team. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they went above and beyond to look after us and our guests.
The grounds are stunning, the food was delicious and the hotel itself was the perfect venue for our intimate wedding.
We wish we could do it all again and again, we can't thank you enough for making our day absolutely perfect!

Myself and my now husband absolutely love this venue. Mere court staff are absolutely fantastic and cater to all your wants and needs. They really made our wedding day special. The grounds are stunning.

The perfect setting for a romantic and intimate wedding. As we had a winter wedding the hotel was very flexible in allowing us to use a different room for the ceremony, the wedding breakfast and the reception. The Duty Manager acted as our Master of Ceremonies and could not have been more helpful. I would wholeheartedly recommend the venue to anyone in the Cheshire area.

I was married here in July 2003 - all that i can say is that is was the most perfect venue. The grounds are lovely and the new conservatory made for a wonderful wedding breakfast setting. The staff were superb and did more than we could ever have wished for.
