An unforgettable day...

We spend a lot of the time in the Peak District in Hope Valley and knew that we wanted to get married there. We were lucky to find The Gathering hidden at the back of Edale.

Tommy and the team there were brilliant from start to finish - no problem too big or small. They returned questions promptly and supported us to visit the venue when we needed to help our planning. What drew us to the venue was the DIY approach that this venue allowed for, it meant we could really make it our own. Although, the venue itself provides a lot of the character and they have furniture that you can use. We didn't have to worry about glasses or cutlery, tables for dining and chairs - as this was all provided. You could also use the space in any way you wanted - choosing where you want the ceremony and sit down meal. There is a charming bar and a wonderful hall, and a marquee to extend the space for our summer wedding. We were able to recruit some locals for the evening to help serve drinks and support getting ready for the toast and moving furniture. It had such a community vibe! Parking on site is possible for those staying on site but again, being true to the community ethos, a local farmer supported us with those joining for the wedding day.

We had a day that we will never forget here and it is somewhere we definitely want to go back to to celebrate our anniversaries in the upcoming years. It is a beautiful place to stay just as a guest in one of the types of accommodation they have available - as they also cater to all sorts of groups and celebrations. There is a variety of accommodation - from Safari tents to the lodge - which we had full use of for our wedding. It helped to create a weekend long intimate wedding that summed us up to a tee.

We highly recommend The Gathering!

Outstanding venue, location and customer support

The venue is outstanding and we were made to feel like it was ours for the entire weekend. It is in a very quiet location, but only a five minute walk from two pubs and a church (for those who wanted to be married in a church). The venue would also be amazing as a full wedding venue. We had the parties in the safari tents, which meant we had a brilliant night before the wedding and the following day.

Would highly recommend.

Relaxed, beautiful venue for people who love the outdoors

We had our wedding at the Gathering in May 2024. It was relaxed and flexible. The team are extremely friendly and helpful but you have the run of the place and it's really special to be able to design exactly what you want. It's great to have the place for the weekend. All the basics that you need are provided - glasses, tables, plates etc. Most of our guests stayed on site, so we had lots of time with our loved ones. There's also Newfield farm campsite nearby where some of our guests stayed in glamping tents, plus loads of other options in Edale if you book early enough. We started the day with a run and river dip, had our ceremony outside with the backdrop of beautiful Peaks and then partied in the Shooting Lodge and courtyard. Caterers are happy to use the kitchen or you can have food trucks in the courtyard. Kids love roaming free around the place. The Gathering will always have a very special place in our heart. Thank you!

The dream venue!

As soon as we visited The Gathering we knew it was the perfect place for us. The location is just incredible and everyone was so lovely, super relaxed and couldn’t be more helpful. We got married in December and you couldn’t pick a better place for a Christmas wedding, they had a big tree up for us and made sure everyone staying in the Safari tents were happy and had everything they needed just in case it got cold. Everyone that came completely fell in love with the place, including the pizza truck that we had in the evening and the coffee van that came the next day. I can’t recommend The Gathering highly enough - they stand head and shoulders above other venues and are a true hidden gem! We’ll definitely be booking in for future celebrations.

Summer Wedding

We got married here, due to Edale being very special to our memories going back a few generations on my wife’s side.

The church in the village is beautiful and perfect for a small wedding (ours was 32 guests and 4 toddlers) but would also work for larger weddings of up to 100.

We loved the venue as it is a quiet remote spot, which allowed to us gather as a family and friends (and dogs) for a week. We used the safari tents and the lodge for Monday to Friday hiking in the local area, enjoying meals together in the converted stable stalls, enjoying the local hostelries and of course our wedding breakfast in the great hall.

As someone who works in hospitality, we had a number of contacts to help us make the week a perfect do it yourself wedding.
Please be aware that this is very much a do it yourself venue and we arranged everything ourselves from, sleeping arrangements, to everyday meals, hiking routes, wedding breakfast food/chefs, service staff and music, stocking and supply of the drinks/bar for the week and all wedding day decorations, flowers etc.
We love doing this sort of thing and revelled in it, however please be prepared to put plenty work in prior to your stay.

The safari tents are excellent quality, well stocked with equipment in the kitchens, comfy beds and give each family private space when required. Wood was supplied daily by the venue for the fires, to allow us to cook and heat the back boilers for hot water. The covered porches were great for cooking outside or enjoying a fire during the evenings.
The 4 bedrooms in the shooting lodge were all fully equipped and the kitchen/sitting area attached to 2 of the rooms was also excellent.

The main hall was great for our small party size for the wedding breakfast. The kitchen attached was great for the chefs to use. Plenty of workspace, fridges and ovens.
The stables which are now benched out with large tables of 10 were great during the week for standard meals. On our wedding day, we used tables and chairs supplied by the venue to make up large tables for dining. The bar was available for our use all week, which has plenty fridge space, a dishwasher, an ice machine, and is fully stocked with glassware. We stocked it full of wines, beers and spirits for our guests, and it was accessible to all throughout the week.

All in all this can be a superb venue at a reasonable price, providing you are prepared to do the groundwork in advance for your DIY wedding.
Definitely would recommend.

Absolutely Belting Wedding Venue

My wife and I got married here in August 2022 and we simply could not recommend it enough. The venue is nothing sort of magical, very reasonably priced and the team at the gathering were absolutely fantastic. They were so helpful both in the lead in and the setting up, helping out in all aspects of organisation as well as recommending previously used vendors. For example, we went with a recommend caterer from up the valley in Hope - food was fab, good value for money and the caterers had worked in the venue before so knew the score. Because they have so much experience hosting weddings at The Gathering they can help you pick out what has worked in the past at their venue and make you feel at ease, whilst giving you as much autonomy as you need to make it your unique day. The guest accommodation was fantastic and Edale itself is a majestic place for a wedding. So many people at our wedding said it was the best wedding they'd been to - the Edale Gathering made it!

Memories for a lifetime

Our wedding at Edale Gathering was the stuff that dreams are made of. We hired the Gathering for a full week with our wedding day in the middle of the week, which allowed us to have much more quality time with our family and friends who travelled long distances to be with us. The setting is stunning - it really is the most magical corner of rural England - and the team at Edale Gathering have thought of everything and go the distance to make sure their guests are looked after. We would happily live in one of those safari tents - they are incredible! Our wedding was one of many events we have held at the Gathering (we've also hired it out for yoga retreats) and I can imagine it would be just as special to return there for a wedding reunion in future! To the team at the Gathering: Thank You So Much! Of all of the places we could've celebrated our wedding, we are so so happy that we chose there!

Perfect Wedding for Us

We absolutely adored Edale Gathering for our wedding. What was really important to us was a site that was beautiful, relaxed, plenty of accomadation and we could spend the whole weekend celebrating with our family and friends! And that's exactly what we got.

Tommy and the team were amazing at helping us organise our wedding and gave us loads of advice on suppliers but at the same time all the flexibility of using our own people if we wanted them. And they couldn't do enough while we were there to make it run smoothly! We obviously had a ball and some stunning photos to remember the day. But the thing that made it so special was how much all our guests loved it and raved about what a gorgeous place it was and how much it felt like us!

I cant recommend it enough!

The farm has been in my family for 10 generations and we have hosted an amazing variety of weddings since 2016. Kirsty and I got married here ourselves. My aim is to ensure that this is YOUR wedding as you want it. A whole weekend with family and friends, not posh, but very personal. Every wedding is different, as it should be!
