Facilities and Capacity
Built in 1801, Barley Wood House has a rich history, and the property still has many of its original features. The house caters for weddings with up to 110 guests and has 2 function rooms, 9 large bedrooms, a self-catering kitchen, and a reception area. There are both indoor and outdoor ceremony options available. Nearlyweds can exchange vows on the stone terrace surrounded by their loved ones and with the picturesque Bristol countryside as their backdrop. There are 11 acres of woodland and beautiful grounds to explore and take photos in. Alternatively, couples can tie the knot indoors in the bright and spacious ceremony room. After the ceremony, newlyweds can host a wedding breakfast in the house for up to 110 seated guests and 150 for an evening reception. There is also the option of erecting a marquee in the gardens for up to 200 people.

The team at this venue is dedicated to creating unique and memorable milestone occasions for each client. The property is available for exclusive use so couples can enjoy their wedding their way and make it their home for the entire weekend. Our exclusive weekend package ensures couples have time to decorate, dine and relax with family before and after the big day. Make it your own! Arrive Friday with friends and loved ones and unpack and decorate, prepare a dinner (or have a barbeque or get takeaway!) and dine in our morning room or outside on the terrace and have a truly relaxing evening before your big day. Then on Sunday, don't worry about heading straight out. With checkout not until 4 pm on Sunday, you, your family and friends can rest, sleep in, have breakfast and lunch together, play lawn games, take it all in and leave with wonderful memories.
Services Offered
Barley Wood House is a dry hire venue, but we are proud of the amenities we have and the team can provide a list of and introductions to trusted local suppliers if desired! And while we are dry hire, you definitely don’t have to do it all yourself. Our venue manager is your dedicated point of contact throughout the process, providing support, all the tools and documents you need to plan your wedding and extra access to the property in advance of the weekend. The venue manager and the caretaker are also onsite on the wedding day to provide additional support, so you are well looked after! Additionally, as a part of your wedding package, we provide:
- Exclusive use of the venue, including our gorgeous grounds, spacious morning room, main hall, reception and summer house and accommodation from Friday through Sunday.
- Luxurious accommodation with 9 large bedrooms sleeping up to 25 people all included in total package.
- Option to be married inside in our morning room (up to 100 guests) or main hall (up to 120 guests) or outside (up to 120 guests) in our stunning Italian Garden with stunning views of the Mendips.
- A dedicated venue manager to help you through your wedding journey and to explore what is possible.
- Wedding breakfast table plan options include rectangular long tables for up to 120 guests or roundtables for up to 110 guests.

*Note, this venue is for exclusive wedding weekend hire. £7500 is our total price (inclusive of VAT) for use of the venue from Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. If desired, subject to availability, we can allow for early arrival for an additional fee.
