Conveniently located just 4 miles from Bristol Airport and 12 miles from Bristol City Centre, this property offers couples the ideal blend of convenience, flexibility, and style. Featuring beautifully landscaped gardens, panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, and large function rooms, Barley Wood House has everything couples need to create the wedding celebration they always dreamed about.
Facilities and Capacity
Built in 1801, Barley Wood House has a rich history, and the property still has many of its original features. The house caters for weddings with up to 110 guests and has 2 function rooms, 9 large bedrooms, a self-catering kitchen, and a reception area. There are both indoor and outdoor ceremony options available. Nearlyweds can exchange vows on the stone terrace surrounded by their loved ones and with the picturesque Bristol countryside as their backdrop. There are 11 acres of woodland and beautiful grounds to explore and take photos in. Alternatively, couples can tie the knot indoors in the bright and spacious ceremony room. After the ceremony, newlyweds can host a wedding breakfast in the house for up to 110 seated guests and 150 for an evening reception. There is also the option of erecting a marquee in the gardens for up to 200 people.

The property is available for exclusive use so couples can enjoy their wedding their way and make it their home for the entire weekend. Our exclusive weekend package ensures couples have time to decorate, dine and relax with family before and after the big day. Make it your own! Arrive Friday with friends and loved ones and unpack and decorate, prepare a dinner (or have a barbeque or get takeaway!) and dine in our morning room or outside on the terrace and have a truly relaxing evening before your big day. Then on Sunday, don't worry about heading straight out. With checkout not until 4 pm on Sunday, you, your family and friends can rest, sleep in, have breakfast and lunch together, play lawn games, take it all in and leave with wonderful memories.

Couldn't have asked for a more perfect venue!
We had our wedding at Barley Wood House in September 2025, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue.
The house, grounds and views are stunning with so many gorgeous spots for photos. It felt exclusive and special.
A huge part of what made the experience stress free was Zach, who was incredible from start to finish. From our first visit right through to the big day, he was friendly and genuinely helpful. Nothing was ever too much trouble, communication was excellent, and he always made us feel completely supported and confident that everything was under control.
If you’re looking for a beautiful exclusive venue, we couldn’t recommend Barley Wood House enough.

The most magical, perfect day!
We chose Barley Wood for our wedding in October and it was the most magical, perfect day! Zach the manager could not be more helpful, answering queries, providing info and top tips and helping out during the set up and day of our wedding. The house is beautiful and was the perfect setting. We were lucky enough to get married outside with an amazing view of the countryside and our photos look fantastic, including some beautiful ones taken on the woodland path. Having the venue for the entire weekend really helped ease any stress, being able to set up the day before so we could just enjoy the actual day itself. The flexibility to decorate however we wanted and bring in all of the vendors of our choice makes Barley Wood a stand out in our opinion. I had my wedding here over the weekend of the 18th of October, and what an absolutely stunning weekend it was.
Zach and the team were a dream to work with, and the day could not have run more smoothly.
The venue is stunning, do not be put off by the blank canvas you are presented with, it allows you to have your day exactly how you want it. It can cost as much or as little as you like, and be as simple or extravagant as you please.

The venue itself is beautiful; don't be discouraged by the blank canvas it presents. This flexibility allows you to design your day exactly as you envision it. You can tailor the costs to fit your budget and choose a style that is as simple or extravagant as you desire.

The best weekend we could imagine!
We knew as soon as we visited that we wanted to get married at Barley Wood House. You get it for the whole weekend, it has accommodation on site, a beautiful outdoor ceremony location, gardens, terrace, hall and dance floor. The multiple locations in the building make the whole day very smooth, the dance floor in particular was just perfect with our band! You can chose your own catering, we used Coexist (Bristol based community kitchen) who were so perfect and lots of people seemed to like. We particularly love Zach, who works at BWH, who is so kind, knowledgeable and helpful - he made sure our weekend went so smoothly, we just had the best weekend we could imagine.

Barley wood
Beautiful wedding venue with the freedom to dress however you want. Having the weekend to set up get married and then pack down made me feel that they really valued you and wanted to make your day as special as possible. Everything felt really personal and not like we were going to a wedding factory. We had the most beautiful day and the range in the grounds created the most beautiful pictures.

Couldn't love this place more!
What an amazing venue! We absolutely fell in love with Barley Wood House when we first saw it (and met the brilliant Zach!) and we couldn't have asked for more.
We were able to arrive on Friday morning to set up - the house is beautiful anyway but it's great to be able to add your own personal touches (we had a sunflower theme which was perfect for the sunny weather). We got married in the summer house - twice! Officially on the Friday with the registrar and unofficially with our good friend as celebrant on the Saturday.
There's so much space and the grounds are gorgeous. Our wedding was family-friendly (we have kids) so the gardens, rope swing, garden games, plus the kids' bell tent we organised, were all perfect. And then all the space in the house! We used the main room for our wedding breakfast / evening do, and then had the Morning Rom for a quieter space, plus the terrace.
In terms of suppliers, Bev and Steve do the bar (and are great!) and you can choose your own suppliers for everything else (there are recommended suppliers if you're looking for some help).
The cherry on top is the nine double bedrooms / five massive bathrooms that are also yours for the weekend. It was so wonderful staying there with our closest people and the rooms are AMAZING!
Finally, the support we got from Zach was second to none. He was so helpful with advice and suggestions, super quick to respond, brilliant on the day making sure it all went smoothly - an absolute legend.

The most perfect weekend
We had the most perfect weekend at Barley Wood for our wedding. It's a beautiful, spacious house set in the most idyllic grounds with terrace, lawn, and Italian gardens. We fell in love with it the moment we arrived, it felt so special and we couldn't wait to get married under the Temple. Zach is an amazing venue manager. He's really warm and friendly, very responsive and with great attention to detail. In the run up to the wedding, he was brilliant at answering our questions and giving us advice, he went above and beyond. On the day, we were made to feel at ease as if it were our own home, but we knew we could always get in touch if we needed anything. With 9 double rooms and 5 full bathrooms complete with roll top baths, we were delighted to be able to put up our friends and family for the event. We loved Barley Wood so much and hope to visit again soon.

It was incredible
I got married here at the end of may and it was incredible. Zach, the venue manager, was amazing from the very start and kept us updated with what was going on right up through to the wedding day. The venue is absolutely stunning and I still can't get over how great the views are! Inside is just as beautiful as out and the fact we had it for the whole weekend meant that we were able to make it a proper weekend celebration with family and friends and also allowed us to add our own personal touches! I would recommend Barley Wood as a venue!

The most magical wedding!
We got married at Barley Wood in October and had the most wonderful, magical weekend! The views are truly spectacular, and having the entire house meant we could plan everything the way we wanted it, making it more flexible and personal to us. The house is gorgeous and spacious (the bedrooms are enormous!) and the grounds are truly beautiful - we set up a woodland walk with bunting, outdoor games and had the ceremony in the summer house overlooking the walled garden and Mendip hills.
Everything ran perfectly, all our guests had a wonderful time and being able to have our pup there too was really special! Would HIGHLY recommend to anyone looking to get married in the area - this is an amazing venue run by a great team. Thank you Barley Wood!

Marquee wedding at barley wood
We had an amazing wedding at Barley wood in August.
We had our drinks reception in the Italian Garden to make the most of the amazing views. It really felt like we were abroad in the sun.
As it was a large wedding we opted to have a marquee on the lawn for our wedding breakfast, before moving into the main house for the evening.
The main hall worked perfectly for the evening with space for the band and a large dance floor.
Barley wood was the perfect venue for us. They were so accommodating and supportive in helping us create the day that we wanted. Big shout out to Zach at Barley Wood for helping us organise in the build up - he was absolutely brilliant throughout.

Such an amazing venue!
We loved the look of Barely Wood when we first came to have a look at it, as it’s a house that has some character to it and Amy and I loved that about it.
Everyone really enjoyed the venue, from the spacious rooms to the vast open space of the gardens that have all been well kept. I believe everyone made themselves at home and felt comfortable at the house.
The guest all were all saying the same in that it’s such an amazing venue with beautiful views and lovely garden space, all were very complementary about the venue, and the kids all loved the vast open space so that they could run around freely haha.
