An elegant location with charm

I am writing this as a guest, so it is difficult to say how flexible they were or whether it was value for money. But the other categories are what I found.
Attended a 2pm wedding here on a Friday in mid May 2026 and my observations / comments are as follows ...
The site is easily found as it is adjacent to Halifax Road (the A629) . Signage, indicating which entrance to use outside the venue was helpful.
As we arrived in a taxi I can't comment on the position or capacity of the car park
The building, especially at the side where the terrace and garden are, is visually impressive
The layout of the rooms is interesting. There are a lot of rooms that are ideal if you want to have rooms where say no music is played etc. However, the main room is oddly shaped which meant that some of the tables for the reception were in a position which meant that the top table was out of sight.
The service of drinks and food was very good. Millie for example did it very professionally and with a smile.
The food was very good and plentiful. The hot food was hot, although the roast potatoes were slightly 'al dente' in the middle but that may have just been an issue for the table that I was on.
Steps .... This was an issue. Starting at the entrance there are 3 steps where a handrail would be useful. The indoor rooms eg orangeary to a bar area are on slightly different levels. The 2/3 small steps, although their edges are marked with tape, are a trip hazard. I and quite a few others were caught out by them. So please be aware of them. There are also steps leading from the building to the terrace. These are substantial stone ones and would also benefit from a handrail.  The same can be said for the steps between the terrace and the lawned area.  I know that a lot of the guests, including myself, were elderly but it is something that the venue would be better addressing sooner than later as I think it is only a matter of time before someone has a fall.
Sounds .... As I mentioned at the beginning the venue is close ( approx 60m) to the A629 and noise of the traffic is a low rumble. So if the outdoor area is used,  please be aware that at times certain vehicles easily be heard. For example the sirens of an emergency vehicle or a loud motorcycle were very noticeable during the ceremony.
On the subject of sounds, the public address system that was 'used' for the outdoor ceremony did not work. It would also be beneficial if there was also a PA system available for use in the main room for when the speeches are made.
If the outdoor area is to be used I would certainly ascertain how much of the terrace / gardens is in sunshine / shadow at the different time of the year. I say this because there are some large established trees in the grounds and also the building itself.
The 'negative' points that are mentioned above should not over ride the many many many positive aspects but I feel that they need to be said to give a fair comment
