Meet with a handpicked selection of local exhibitors, engage with our wedding team, and take a look around our beautiful grounds, house and wedding barn, all with a complimentary glass of fizz and canapes. We’ll also be offering venue viewings every hour – these must be pre-booked as spaces are limited. Welcome to Askham Hall, an exclusive Lake District wedding venue for up to 150 guests, with 19 luxurious bedrooms. Incorporating a 13th Century Country House and picture perfect gardens with a rustic barn, we offer a bespoke service tailored to your dream celebrations.
The village of Askham itself is a rewarding first impression, with quaint houses, St Peters Church, and the river Lowther bumbling along the outskirts. Tucked away down a leafy drive sits Askham Hall, an historic estate blending modern elegance with rustic charm, providing a retreat for unique celebrations of between 2 and 150 guests.
With a dedication to seasonality, sustainability, and homegrown ingredients, our focus on farm-to-table menus offers a culinary journey to ignite conversation. Intimate weddings have the experience of our Michelin-starred restaurant within the Hall, and our wedding barn menus are equally matched on emphasizing the very best produce to celebrate the changing seasons. So, whether you have 2 or 150 guests, you can enjoy an unforgettable dining experience.
The sweeping lawns, lovingly maintained gardens, cosy indoor spaces, and large historic barn with exposed stone walls, traditional oak beams and twinkling lights provide the options for your perfect day - right through from saying I do to partying into the night.
For yours, and your guest’s accommodation, we have 19 bedrooms at Askham Hall. In addition, there are several pubs nearby, including The Queens Head (5minute walk) with 6 bedrooms and the George and Dragon (10minute drive) with 11 rooms. All are dog-friendly.
When your special day comes, our on-site wedding co-ordinators (who you will have got to know during the process) will be ready to greet you with the access to the barn from 12noon the day before your wedding to put those perfect touches in.

The wedding venue of dreams
August 2025 Wedding
We couldn't recommend this venue highly enough - the location (just 2 minutes walk through the 'secret garden' to the closest church), the staff, the accomodation, the food, the pool & spa, all the stuff that gets included when other places charge you! The wedding coordinators made us feel completely at ease throughout the entire planning process, giving us enough time in meetings to discuss our plans, without putting any pressure on if we hadn't got all the details finalised.
We ordererd the standard number of drinks and we were a little nervous that there wouldn't be enough but the general comments was there was plenty! We had the BBQ the night before which was unbelievable, and the canapes, wedding breakfast, evening meal and breakfast were also amazing - couldn't fault it!
We had Jenny as our main wedding organiser who was great, she was there throughout our entire day and made sure it all ran smoothly, even being patiently flexible when speeches ran WAY over with food arrangements!
Would highly recommend for couples looking for a stunning, rustic, yet affordable venue in the most beautfiul location and part of the country!

Communication was always great, they couldn't have made it easier. We never felt overwhelmed or rushed in decision making.
The staff went above and beyond, even the guests commented on how gracious, welcoming and generous every one was.
All the food and drink were to the highest standard.
Couldn't have had a more perfect weekend and I hope others at least go and visit Askham to see for themselves!
June wedding
The night before the wedding we had a wonderful barbeque for close family and friends. This was beautiful and the food was 10/10.
The wedding day itself ran so smoothly, everything was exactly as we had pictured. The staff were so helpful with everything which really took away the stress. The food was brilliant and basically everyone had empty plates.
Such a stunning venue, wouldn't hesitate booking here - we wish we could do it again!
The most phenomenal wedding venue & team 💕
Askham is naturally stunning but the wedding team is what really makes it. The communication, guidance, support, advice and flexibility was just amazing. We had the most incredible weeding day and genuinely would not change a single thing, this is thanks to the team at Askham.
Having exclusivity of the venue meant we really felt as though we were in our own bubble and we were surrounded by nothing but love and support from our loved ones. The food….. we still think about the food. Just gorgeous! At least 30 guests told us it was the best wedding food they have ever had.
The beauty of the grounds, character of the house and romance of the barn are beyond words. Our friends have been to lots of wedding and so many of them said it was the best venue they’ve ever been to.
Put simply, we cannot recommend Askham enough and have already booked to go back and stay for a long weekend as we love the venue and staff so much.

Could not of asked for anything more
We were lucky enough to have Jenny assigned as our wedding planner. Nothing was too much trouble, she answered our endless questions with ease and promised us that everything would be taken care of- it most certainly was.
From the BBQ the night before to the wedding day the food was incredible. We could not have certain meats throughout the weekend and they replaced this for us no problem.
We also want to thank the wider Askham Hall team. Everyone was so kind, friendly and made sure the whole day ran without a hitch. All my guests commented on how lovely everyone was.
To top the service and food off the venue itself has so much to offer. From the main house, the barn, the medieval hall, all 18 bedrooms, the gardens - even the resident pigs. We were lucky enough with the weather to be able to explore it all. The gardens are pristine.
Couldn’t have asked for a better wedding venue. Don’t hesitate to go for a viewing.
