Your ancient Barns and Woodland Wedding Venue close to Sudbury, Suffolk (on the Suffolk / Essex border). Alpheton Hall Barns forms part of the ancient settlement of Alpheton Hall at the end of a mile long no through road. Surrounded by rolling countryside, meadows and woodland the Barns are adjacent to Alpheton Church as well as offering Barn and woodland ceremony spaces.
Facilities and Capacity
Comprised of two interconnected timber frame barns Alpheton Hall Barns offer plenty of space for your civil ceremony and wedding reception. Restored rather than converted the Barns still feature their original big Barns doors which can be open in good weather allowing the outside in. The ancient honey coloured oak beams and lime plaster interiors together with the black feather-boarded exteriors work with any colour scheme.
The Barns are furnished with tables and chairs and essentially everything you need for your ceremony and wedding reception. The South 'Reception' Barn is strung with a myriad of twinkly fairy lights and has lots of rustic detailing such as our big iron hoop lights and vintage wooden ladders all with hanging Edison light bulbs, which look stunning on their own or dressed in foliage or flowers. And you are welcome to add your personal decorations to make it 'your' wedding venue.
Outside guests are invited to explore the heart-shaped wildflower confetti arboretum, the wedding garden with brick 'drinks' terrace and space for garden games and the Barns courtyard with woodfired pizza oven, ideal for evening food. Whilst the couple can wander into the gardens and meadows around the Barns for their couples photographs.
Services Offered
The Alpheton Hall Barns is an exclusive use 'blank canvas' venue. Prices are for Barn rental only but local trusted suppliers would be more than happy to put together a food and drinks package for your day or you can choose your own (subject to approval). Owners Nic and Carol have more than 14 years experience in helping couples host their weddings and love that each wedding is personal to the couple.

Everything we wanted and more
Alpheton Hall Barns will forever now have a special place in our hearts. We fell in love with the venue when we first visited, the outdoor ceremony area was everything we wanted (and luckily the weather held for us to get married outside) and the barns themselves are beautiful. Carol and Nic were so helpful whilst planning our wedding, always on hand to answer questions and allowing us to visit the venue multiple times to measure up and check things out. They helped us make our wedding truly individual to us, offering us advice and adding their special touches. One of those was having two glasses of prosecco waiting for us in one of the smaller rooms after the ceremony, it gave us time to ourselves to take in that we had just got married, before confetti and photos. We highly recommend choosing Alpheton Hall Barns as your venue, you won't be disappointed. Thank you, Carol and Nic for helping us create a magical day to remember forever.

AHB - The Stunning Location
I cannot recommend AHB enough for a wedding venue, Nic and Carol are so helpful and accommodating, nothing is to much trouble for them, they know and love the trade they work in, and it shows, the venue is stunning and so many of our guests commented on how perfect the venue was. They work brilliantly with suppliers and the day just ran smoothly! So many nice added touches to personalise your day as well.

The best venue in Suffolk
We had our wedding here in June, it’s fantastic value, the owners are kind and extremely helpful (also no corkage), the indoor and outdoor ceremony areas are beautiful, and the main hall is highly customisable to your specific style. There are a bunch of great smaller features like the confetti balloon for your first dance, a pizza oven, and some great private spots for photography. 10/10 can’t recommend enough.

THE most perfect venue and day!!
Everything was so perfect it's hard to know where to start! The venue is utterly beautiful inside and out, nothing has been overlooked from the chill out room for the couple after the ceremony (or anyone who needs a bit of time out, mothers with babies etc.) to the catering facilities, the heart shaped meadow for amazing confetti photos (with drone flying above to capture it!), the band stand etc. etc. The barns are stunning even before they are dressed with flowers, the grounds are just wonderful. Carol and Nic were incredible both before and during the day, always on hand, took every potent little stress away, always going above and beyond to make our day what it was - utterly perfect.

The best day of our lives!
The only thing we need to say about our small wedding at Alpheton Hall Barns is 'perfect'!
When we first visited AHB we were blown away by it's rustic character and charm, it's history and the beauty of the barn and its surroundings.
Carol and Nic, the owners, were with us every step of the way from initial planning, supplier recommendation, setting up and throughout the wedding day itself.
They bith went over and above all our expectations with many lovely touches and their thoughtfulness. Carol seamlessly moved our floral displays and other decorations from the ceremony barn to the main reception bar, whilst Nic discretely took photos and videos which were shown during the evening.
We cannot recommend AHB highly enough. Thank you for making our day 'perfect' and we look forward to visiting again on our first anniversary!

Perfect quirky vegan boho wedding
Carol and Nic were fantastic from start to finish. From the second they showed us around the beautiful venue, to guiding us through planning and finally making our special day perfect. I couldn't rate this venue more highly. They helped us to come up with some quirky plans and tailored our special day so that it felt personal to us. They've even invited us back to visit on our anniversaries

A fantastic venue with wonderful owners
Alpheton Hall Barns was the perfect venue for our wedding. The woodland glade was stunning for the ceremony, and the barn gave the perfect rustic vibe we wanted for the reception. There was plenty of space for the ceilidh in the evening, and our guests enjoyed being able to explore the venue. Nic and Carol were really helpful, both during the planning and on the day, nothing was too much trouble. They were genuinely passionate about making our day individual and special to us. We mostly used suppliers recommended on their website and all of them were great.

Incredible
We had the most amazing wedding at the Barns this weekend!! Nic and Carol went above and beyond to make our day go smoothly, and it was an absolutely beautiful day. The pizza ovens were incredible, the woodland area was gorgeous, and the whole venue looked fantastic. We would not change the venue at all- it was 100% the right choice.

A perfect venue for your perfect day
The effort that Carol and Nic go to so that your day is special at their venue is amazing. We were so pleased that we chose Alpheton, there was soo much beauty to take advantage of for your day that you'll struggle to fit it all in to your photos.
They clearly care a lot about your day and not just taking your money, you'll definitely feel like every penny was worth it.
They are responsive and if you are looking for inspiration of how to take advantage of the space they have great ideas.
We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

A simply stunning venue with owners who go above and beyond to make your day special.
Carol and Nic - you exceeded our expectations and truly went above and beyond to make our day better than we could have hoped for. We cannot thank you enough for all of your hard work. From answering questions on the run up, to preparing the woodland so we could have the ceremony of our dreams, to sending us home with a USB full of beautiful memories at the end of the night, it all made our day the happiest one of our lives.
Alpheton is a special place and we’re so glad we picked it for our wedding. The woodland ceremony is rustic and natural, yet with all the hidden features to ensure you can have music and seat everyone comfortably. The reception barn is full of charm and everything has been thought of to make it the perfect choice for both the wedding breakfast and then the disco at the end of the night. Being a dog-friendly venue was essential for us and our pups loved exploring your beautiful grounds.
You offered so many personal touches, including programming the lighting to our entrance song and letting us use your beautiful campervan on the drive up to the woods. Not to mention your excellent array of props that allowed us to make the venue feel more personal. A special mention must go to Nic: his charisma and charm made our guests feel at ease and we really appreciated his beautiful footage from the big day. All of this makes Alpheton stand out from other venues and we would recommend you to anyone.

our special day made even more perfect in Suffolk
From our first online meeting we knew Nic & Carol were the right people to host our wedding at this stunning location that was in our beloved county of Suffolk.
The barn is so beautiful & just what we were looking for with its gorgeous features from rustic beams to a heart shape meadow we knew this was the place for us. Nic & Carol were so helpful & supportive throughout all our planning & answered all our question & guided us along the way with their experience of what would work best , they couldn't have been more helpful and took away a lot of the stress for us. We can honestly say that they helped make our dream wedding come true & looking back on our beautiful photos they also enjoyed themselves too. Our only sadeness is, that it all went too fast as we & our guests had too much fun, if that's possible & that was because of Nic & Carol.

Above and beyond
Firstly stunning location, a beautiful woodland setting which makes for a very personal and intimate wedding. Stunning gardens with spectacular views in glorious Suffolk countryside. We could not of picked a better venue for our perfect day. Add in to that the lengths that owners carol and nic went too, we booked our wedding with only 6 weeks notice and they perfectly orchestrated the whole day. The barns are steeped in history and are absolutely beautiful and if we could do it all again,it would be with Alpheton Hall Barns.❤️

So much more than a 'venue'
We had our dream wedding day in April this year and we couldn't have wished for anything to be different. The historic barns are breathtaking and so practical to cater for guests. We were able to personalise our day in whatever way we wanted which made it special and individual to us.
What truly made this venue special, are the wonderful owners, Carol & Nic. From the day we had our viewing, to the day after the wedding when we were clearing out, they couldn't be anymore helpful. Both Carol and Nic offered us some amazing advice and all of our wishes were turned into reality without hesitation. They cared not only for us, but our guests and suppliers throughout our big day. It was so wonderful to see our caters, bar, band and venue all working together and having a wonderful time together. Exactly the relaxed and fun atmosphere we wanted.
From moving flower arrangements, to capturing photos/videos and sharing them both on the screen in the evening and with us at the end of the night, they really go above and beyond. Special shout out to the youngest member of the AHB team who came over to help us make our entrance and tidy up at the end of the night!
We honestly cannot thank team AHB enough, our day was beyond perfect and we will treasure the memories forever.

We wouldn't change anything
We couldn’t recommend Alpheton Hall Barns highly enough. One of the first things we said when we woke up after our wedding was that we wouldn’t have changed anything. We would pick the barn again, we would pick all of the same suppliers again, many of whom were recommended to us by Nic and Carol. Knowing they had all been recommended was a huge weight off our shoulders and their knowledge of the venue helped the day run more smoothly.
AHB was more than just a beautiful venue (and the barn and grounds really are beautiful), it was a continued source of help and guidance. From being picked up by Carol from the church in the campervan and brought to the woodland area, so we could catch a moment of quiet together, to the slideshow of photos and videos that Nic put together during the day, Nic and Carol went out of their way and far beyond their requirements to help make the day even more special for us.
I am so glad we found AHB. It was a perfect venue, that allowed us to put together the wedding that we wanted, with plenty of support along the way.

Stunning rural wedding venue
Alpheton Hall Barns is an amazing venue in a beautiful countryside location, with the most wonderful owners. Nic and Carol really go above and beyond in terms of the support they provide on the day. They're constantly on the ball to ensure that the day runs smoothly and are keen to help with many additional touches in order to really put on a show for the guests. The venue is well equipped with plenty of additional props for decoration and a pizza oven for late night snacks!
We had an absolutely amazing day (as did all our guests). We're so grateful that we were able to hold our wedding and reception at Alpheton Hall Barns, especially as Nic and Carol stuck with us through two covid-related postponements. It was the most perfect day, we couldn't have asked for more.
