Why are you a wedding photographer?
Being a wedding photographer is such a rewarding job and I absolutely love it. Seeing the joy that the photographs bring to newlywed couples and their families is priceless.
The photographs from a wedding day are always full of emotion and this is something that I love to capture, freezing special moments for couples to treasure.
What is your photography style?
I would describe myself as a documentary photographer. I love capturing the emotions and natural, real moments of a wedding day.
On your wedding day I like to be unobtrusive and blend into the background, looking for the next moment to photograph. I am not an in-your-face photographer: nobody wants to be bossed around on their wedding day!
Do you take traditional wedding photographs?
Whilst I am primarily a documentary photographer I do know the importance of the traditional family formal photograph.
I usually advise couples to keep the formal group shot list to about 6-10 photographs as each one takes approximately five minutes to organise and pose.
How do we book you for our wedding?
If you are interested in having me photograph your wedding, just give me a call or message to find out my availability for your date. If I am free, I would love to meet you to discuss your wedding day. Having a meeting also gives you the opportunity to ask me any questions that you may have.
To secure me as your wedding photographer, a non refundable deposit of £100 must be paid and then it's final!
In the run up to your wedding I will keep in touch to discuss all of the details and timings of the day and answer any further questions or requests.
How many images will we receive from our wedding?
You will be delivered from 400+ edited images in a password protected online gallery depending on the package you've selected. From there you can download the photos, have them printed, share them with family and friends and on social media.
All of your photographs will be left un-watermarked - nobody wants my name all over their wedding photos!
How soon after our wedding will we receive the photographs?
Your wedding photographs will be delivered to you within four weeks. I’m sure that you’ll be super excited and eager to look through all of the photographs and re-live your special day so I don’t want to leave you waiting!
Have you worked at our venue before?
Since starting wedding photography back in 2014 I have photographed weddings at many stunning venues. Here is a selection of the venues that I have worked at in the past:
Ashdown Park Hotel, Brick House Farm, Broome Park, Chapel Down, Chilston Park Hotel, Cooling Castle Barn, Dartmouth House, The East Quay, Eastwell Manor, The Ferry House Inn, Frasers, Hall Place, High Rocks, Hotel Du Vin, Inner Temple, Kent Life, Knowle Country House, Knowlton Court, Leeds Castle, Little Hermitage, Lympne Castle, Mountains Country House, The Mulberry Tree, The Night Yard, Nonsuch Mansion, Odo’s Barn, The Old Kent Barn, The Orangery, The Oxo Tower, The Pines Calyx, Port Lympne Mansion, Rowhill Grange, Salomons Estate, The Secret Garden, St Augustine’s Priory, St Julians Club, Starborough Manor, Syon Park, Temple Church, Winters Barns.
It is not essential for me to have shot at your venue before, and if I haven’t I will contact the venue in advance to introduce myself and discuss your day. On your wedding day I will arrive early to familiarise myself with the venue and go over the day with the staff.
How far do you travel for weddings?
Although the majority of the weddings that I shoot are in Kent, I do travel further afield and in the past have photographed weddings in Surrey, Sussex, Essex and London.
If your wedding venue is outside of Kent, please contact us to discuss travel expenses.
Do we need a photography assistant?
Having an assistant on your wedding day is crucial for me to be able to capture your wedding day without missing any special moments. It means that I can spend my time taking beautiful photographs without having to worry about setting up equipment.
Please note that if you add a second photographer on to your wedding package, the photography assistant is no longer needed.
What is a second photographer and should we have one?
There are several reasons why I offer a second photographer and why I recommend having one.
Having a second photographer for your wedding means that each part of your day will be captured from two angles. For instance, at the beginning of the ceremony, I will photograph the bride as she walks down the aisle whilst my second photographer will capture the groom’s reaction as he sees his bride for the first time.
It isn’t just the during the ceremony when having a second photographer is a great idea!
If you would like to have photographs of the groom getting ready in the morning, my second photographer will be able cover this whilst I photograph the bride’s preparations.
A second photographer will also be able to photograph more natural, candid photographs of your guests during the reception whilst I am photographing your family formals and couples session. During the speeches, my second photographer will concentrate on capturing the reactions of your guests, meaning that I can focus mainly on photographing the top table.
What equipment do you use?
I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark IV with a selection of Canon L series lenses. The Canon 5D Mark IV has a 30.4 mega pixel sensor which captures every detail with impeccable clarity. It also features an incredible focusing system and is exceptional at handling low light situations. Each photograph is recorded to two memory cards simultaneously, meaning that all images have an immediate back up.
Having a selection of Profoto lighting equipment allows me to get creative and take full control of a photograph. Using off camera flash also means that I am still able to take high quality photographs in low light situations and venues.
I always arrive to a wedding fully prepared with equipment backups just in case something should break.
Are you insured?
Of course! I have full public liability insurance.
What happens if you’re ill on our wedding day?
Touch wood, to date I have never been ill for a wedding. However should this ever happen, I am in close contact with several award winning photographers who would be more than happy to step in.
