Firstly, Congratulations!  How exciting.  So now your journey to create the Wedding Ceremony of your dreams starts!

As a professional Celebrant I simply adore hearing your own personal story and then working with you to create a ceremony that truly reflects you both – no matter where you are from or what you want – however quirky.

My ceremonies are warm and passionate, mingled with a good splash of humour.  Laughter and tears are almost certainly guaranteed.  I am thrilled to include any special symbolic elements to enhance the ceremony from Ring Warming to Jumping the Broom or even something you have devised yourselves if you prefer!  Each person’s story is completely different, and therefore so should each person’s ceremony be.

I am based near Lewes in East Sussex, but can and do travel, and I am happy to lead a ceremony wherever you want.  A licensed venue, or a non-licensed venue. On a beach or even at your home.

There are no standard forms to fill in, no additional charges for changes, no set wording to choose from.  I don’t just tweak the ceremony, I write it from scratch every time and then work with you to ensure it feels right for you.

I welcome couples from all backgrounds, faiths, mixed faith, LGBTQ.

We had just the best time at our wedding. Thanks very much for making it so special and exactly what we wanted. Our friends and family have all said how much they loved it - and the part that you masterminded especially! Christopher and Simon

We were so pleased to have found Alex Harrison to help us put my mum to rest. She was empathetic and so obviously genuine in sharing our grief that it was easy to welcome her into our family for that difficult and emotional period of time. She went above and beyond the call of duty by traveling out to meet our dad, to get to know him and to talk to him about our mum so she could be ready to support fully on the day. In the lead up to the service, there was much to organise and she helped make this happen with patience and understanding. On the day, the service was beautifully organised, calm, empathetic and absolutely in tune with what the family needed at that delicate time. Thank you, Alex, for playing such a central role in bringing us comfort and helping us all lay our mum to rest.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a Celebrant and a Registrar?

The registrar does the actual legal registration of the marriage. You can have this done either before or after the ceremony at the registry office. The Celebrant conducts a completely bespoke ceremony written for you with you. I am not restricted in any way to the content I include (whereas a registrar is). This means you can mix and match what you want including religous elements, symbolic acts, such as Ring Warming, or Unity Candles. You can also have your own unvetted vows. I offer an unlimted amount of choice to create your perfect ceremomy. I will not be waiting to get to the next wedding, and if you are running a little late - well I will just wait!

Is the ceremony with a celebrant legal?

No (well not yet!!). The legal part of the wedding must be conducted by a Registrar but this can happen very quickly and easily at the register office. If you think about it when you go to a Christening/Naming Ceremony or a Funeral you don't go to the registry for the formal registration. The marriage licence is completed by the Registrar once the couple have shown the correct identification and have said the 32 word civil marriage declaration before two witnesses. Did you know the ring exchange is not part of the legal wedding and can be saved for your personal ceremony led by a celebrant!

Can our Ceremony take place anywhere?

Yes! Anywhere, anytime. We do not have to conduct our ceremonies under a permanent structure (unlike the Registrar). We are completely free to lead the ceremony wherever you want. Your garden, Down the woods, on the beach, on a train, in a plane....

What if I want to change things

That's fine. Part of my service includes pretty much-unlimited changes. I will also work with any other suppliers or members of the wedding party that you want me to. If the date changes - where possible I will accommodate this (of course if I have another booking we will need to discuss this).
