Located in the serene village of Blackrod, west of the West Pennine Moors, The Hawthorns sits on the picturesque Douglas Valley Golf course. Our venue boasts some of the most stunning views of Winter Hill, a well-known Lancashire landmark, from our beautiful garden and terraces.

Our venue is perfect for weddings and events, thanks to its ideal layout. We offer two suites: the Hedgerow Suite, perfect for welcoming guests with drinks and canapés, and the Blossom Suite, which comfortably seats 120-day guests and up to 180 in the evening. The Blossom Suite is elegantly decorated, making it the perfect backdrop for any colour scheme you choose for your special day.

We take pride in being an exclusive-use venue, ensuring that your day is the only event happening on the premises. You'll have full access to our well-maintained garden and patio areas, ideal for guests to enjoy on a lovely summer's evening.

Your Perfect Ceremony

We know how important this part of your big day is, so we have pulled out all the stops to ensure it's perfect. Surrounded by light and airy windows, magical twinkling fairy lights, and your closest friends and family, this will be the first place you will stand together as one happily married couple.

Our Blossom Suite is licensed for up to 120 guests for your ceremony, with the amazing potential to be dressed by your florist or venue dresser however you envision, or it can be just as beautiful as a blank canvas.

If you plan to have a Civil Ceremony or Civil Partnership at The Hawthorns, you will need to contact Bolton Registrars to check their availability for your wedding date and preferred time.

The Blossom Suite

You will be left breath-taken as you walk into our enchanting Blossom Suite. As you find foliage, drapes, a giant mirror ball and twinkling lights hanging from the ceiling. Towards the back of the room, you'll find our large polished dance floor, ready to see the evening's fun as you dance the night away. Surrounded by windows and patio doors, this is a room with perfect lighting for those wedding day photos.

Our Blossom Suite is large enough to ensure all your nearest and dearest can attend your special day. It can seat up to 120 day guests at 12 large round tables and up to 180 evening guests. Each table is the perfect size for any centrepiece, no matter how big or small.

The sage green bar is big enough to ensure you or your guests will not be waiting long for a drink. And if you have any special requests for drinks we will always do our best to accommodate.

The Hedgerow Suite

We can welcome guests into the Hedgerow Suite for delicious canapés and arrival drinks. This can give you some time to get those newlywed photographs on the grounds or in our Blossom Suite.

This gorgeous suite boasts classiness and refinement and has beautiful seating areas with 19 tables.

The Hedgerow Suite also has a fully stocked modern bar with barstools to rest those dancing feet. This space is great to get some photographs with a different, more rustic take

for the album.

The Wedding Breakfast

The wedding breakfast is a wonderful way to celebrate your marriage with your closest family and friends as you tuck into a three-course meal completely chosen by you.

Our team of experienced and talented on-site chefs are committed to creating sensational dishes using the finest ingredients. All you need to do is choose from our exquisite menu choices and we will take care of the rest.

Don't worry we deal with special dietary requirements every day in our kitchen and our dishes can be tailored to suit you.

Our Picturesque Grounds

Our venue isn't just enchanting on the inside, through the patio doors you will find picturesque countryside views overlooking Winter Hill and Rivington Pike, which will be perfect for romantic shots!

Enjoy celebration drinks with your guests on our patio area and garden surrounded by (of course, Hawthorn Bushes); you can even add a musician and canapés if the weather permits; if not, there is always our little hat tipi for shelter.

Our little hat tipi brings so much character to our patio, especially when the sun goes down. Covered in fairy lights, you can be sure to find some magical moments underneath it.

The Evening Reception

Our large dance floor is absolutely perfect for that first dance under the mirror ball and twinkling lights. We have plenty of space for all your guests to join you on the dance floor.
