Welcome to the Barn at Higher Beardon, a beautiful Wedding & Events Barn on the edge of Dartmoor, in Devon.

Exclusive use of the Barn is available from 12 noon the day before the wedding for setting up, the day of the wedding, & until 12 noon the following day for clearing away
Our barn accommodates 30-120 guests for the ceremony & day time reception, through until the evening where you can have up to 300 guests for your evening celebrations.
The barn opens onto a private lawn area, ideal for an outdoor ceremony, reception, or space for lawn games to keep your guests entertained. All while being encapsulated in the stunning views that surround us here.
For those wishing for a larger wedding celebrations we recommend the added hire of stretched tents south west, to be added in addition to your hire of the barn.
In keeping with the barn and it's beautiful surroundings, this fully versatile addition offers you complete peace of mind, for both wind & rain, should the British inclement weather prevail. So you can relax knowing you still have the same beautiful venue without loosing out on the views.
Wherever possible we source our products and services locally, supporting local businesses allows us to ensure it is a truly Dartmoor Wedding, surrounded by stunning views and a manage of animals. Arrangements can be made for you to bring a family pet or beloved animal (even horses!) to join you on your special day with stables and pet friendly accommodation available.
We pride ourselves on our personal touches here at the Barn. Our incredible owner & events coordinator will be on hand every step of the way, from your first telephone call to day after your wedding & beyond. We want you to feel supported, listened to, & completely at home here at the barn. Whether you arrive with everything planned, or a head full of ideas & no idea where to start, we are going to help bring your vision to life. Helping to create a day that is you in every way & making all your wedding dreams come true.
We are also proud to share we are also a pet friendly site, so if you are planning on bringing your furry family members too from dogs to horses we can even accommodate them too, so be sure to enquire about this. We love to make them feel just as at home as we hope you do.

Absolutely PERFECT — Our Special Place Forever ⭐️
The venue itself is breathtaking — a stunning rustic barn, so beautifully styled and cared for, set amidst the most incredible rolling views. Every corner was picture-perfect, warm, and welcoming — we instantly felt relaxed, at peace, and completely at ease. It wasn’t just a venue; it was our special place. ✨
None of this would have been possible without the wonderful Dena. She went above and beyond in every single way — nothing was ever too much trouble, every question answered, every wish granted. Dena didn’t just help us plan a wedding; she became our wedding mother, guiding us, supporting us, and making us feel so loved throughout the whole journey. 💛 Her team were absolute stars too — working tirelessly all evening, ensuring everything ran smoothly, every detail was in place, and every guest was looked after. Their hard work and kindness shone through.
And what an added bonus the annex was! Stunning, cozy, and perfect for our wedding night — such a lovely touch to end the day in such beautiful surroundings. 🏡💤

Our Perfect Wedding Day
The barn looked stunning all our guests were blown away by it and the beautiful location.
We were lucky with the weather which meant we had the use of the beautiful garden and that amazing view but Dena had a back up plan if the weather gods weren’t in our favour. She was on top of everything.
The day ran so smoothly with Dena guiding us gently through it.
It was such a perfect stress free wedding I would 100% recommend this venue and Dena and her team.

Unforgettable, magical day
We discovered the venue less than a month after we got engaged last year and instantly fell in love. It was the first and last venue we viewed and we instantly booked it. From 1st March 2025, Dena has been an addition to our lives, talking every little detail and fully embracing Elliott’s dynamic imagination until we finally created the perfect vision. It felt like our second home as we had full control of what could and is happening. Dena was honest, transparent and has a good community of vendors to work alongside her. Nothing was too much hassle for her. You can really tell The Barn is her passion and it shows. The guests couldn’t believe the beauty of this hidden gem on the day and we honestly recommend Dena and The Barn to anyone to wants a celebration.

The location is absolutely beautiful, and the barn itself is stunning. It’s already decorated so beautifully that it creates the perfect relaxed, rustic barn wedding atmosphere without needing to do lots yourself. It’s also great to have the option of using all of the lovely décor pieces available as part of the package, which made everything so easy.
One of the real highlights for us was the incredible setting. Dena drove us out to some amazing moorland locations for photographs, and the incredible views gave us the most beautiful backdrop to photographs that will always bring back memories of our day.
The food was wonderful and we had so many comments from our guests saying it was some of the best wedding food they had ever had! The cocktail bar was also hugely popular and went down a treat.
We had lots of children at our wedding, which can sometimes be tricky, but they absolutely loved it here. There’s a lovely outdoor space for them to play, but the biggest bonus has to be the animals. Dena allowed the children to help feed the animals and visit and interact with the horses and ponies in the stables. It was genuinely so special watching the little ones leading the ponies out of the stables. And it definitely wasn’t just the kids who loved it — the adults were just as excited about the animals! We were also able to have all of our family dogs with us for the ceremony and throughout the day, which meant so much to us as they’re such an important part of our lives.
The whole atmosphere of the day was just perfect: wonderfully relaxed, laid-back and inclusive. Nothing felt stuffy or overly formal, and everyone was made to feel completely at home. The staff were fantastic and couldn’t do enough to help.
But most of all, our day simply wouldn’t have come together in the way it did without the amazing Dena. From the very first moment we visited the barn and booked our wedding, she guided us through every step, sharing her wealth of experience and always offering advice when we needed it. She truly put her heart and soul into every detail and went above and beyond to make sure we had the best day possible.

From the minute I booked the barn, Dena was absolutely amazing! Always available to talk, text, give advise.
She helped with our full set up & tear down also.
The barn is just the most picturesque venue, rain or shine (or wind in our case!)
Dena has a full array of decorations you can use as well as your own.
We used many of the vendors from her reccomemded list and the day was just perfect from beginning to end.
Highly recommend the cocktail bar! Was a massive hit.
Food was great and super affordable compared to other venues we looked at.
