Seed Farmhouse is a beautiful and historic 15th-century barn wedding venue in Hereford, Herefordshire. It has been newly renovated and is ideal for your wedding celebration.
The Barn
This stunning Grade II-listed barn is surrounded by tranquil rural farmland, punctuated by historic farmsteads and woodlands.
The barn is timber-framed and has survived since the 17th century with intricate, original, riven oak or chestnut wattle infill panels. The layout consists of four bays, initially used for stabling and thrashing. These bays provide natural separation within the barn's interior, allowing enough space to comfortably fit 85 people for a seated event, with additional space for dancing, entertainment, and catering facilities.
The spacious layout and arrangement of the barn reflect the agricultural and functional requirements of its time. With its beautiful exposed beams and weatherboarding, which allow sunlight to filter through the walls, the barn is the perfect rustic and romantic venue for a wedding.
The Farmhouse
The barn is situated amongst Seed Farm, adjacent to Seed Farmhous, a 15th-century moated house set in a secluded spot by the Malvern Hills on the border of Herefordshire, Worcester and Gloucestershire. On three sides, the house is surrounded by a Medieval defensive moat, filled in Summer with lilies, mallards, irises, and its other inhabitants. The farmhouse sleeps ten people in its spacious five bedrooms, surrounded by lush gardens and beautiful scenery. The farmhouse is available to accommodate up to ten wedding guests, alongside the barn as the reception venue.
Over the years, the owners have gone to great lengths to preserve and enhance the character of the property. The spacious rooms are well proportioned throughout and benefit from large windows affording much natural light. Mainly constructed of traditional local stone, the farmhouse has many period features, including exposed beams, stone floors, and grand, open fireplaces. Many of the rooms benefit from views over the moat and backdrop of the countryside beyond.
Bedrooms:
The master bedroom suite comprises a large dressing area, bedroom and ensuite bathroom. The first floor has four further double bedrooms and two family bathrooms.
Reception and other rooms:
The farmhouse is entered through a traditional covered porch into a charming entrance hall. The large, open dining room features a fantastic 15th-century fireplace and leads to a homely, countryside kitchen/breakfast room and Aga. The entrance hall also leads to the sitting room and the impressive drawing room with an open fireplace. The farmhouse also has a study and a second designated desk/workspace in the kitchen.

Incredibly special wedding venue that we are still dreaming of
We didn’t start our wedding plan with a specific place in mind - we knew we wanted something relaxed, with lots of space, a summertime wedding that felt unique to us, rather than a copy & paste commercial event. Now we’ve been through the whole process, we both agree that even if we had unlimited budget and resources, we would do it all over again at Seed Farm.
As you drive down the lane, you feel you’re going to arrive at something special. The venue itself is like a poem to the English countryside. The barn has been wonderfully restored whilst retaining its character, & the photos don’t do justice to the scale or the atmosphere when you’re inside. It feels like a church but cosy. We used half of the space for a seating/ dining area in the day which turned into a dance floor in the evening, and the other half as a catering area where people could help themselves to food all day & night. Because of the space available you can make it work for whatever your requirements are and I absolutely loved having that flexibility.
We did our ceremony outside in the orchard, and the surrounding views of the rolling fields and moat are so special. It feels as though you are in your own world with your closest friends and family, as it’s so quiet. No traffic noise, no surrounding houses, no distractions, just you and your person saying your vows in front of your loved ones.
We had perfect weather but had a wet weather plan (as it’s England and you’d be mad not to). However because of the size of the barn it wasn’t a worry of ours. We knew all our guests would fit comfortably in the covered areas without being too crammed in. The ability to offer both options at a reasonable price point is rare to find if you are looking to have a (hopefully) outside event.
We loved being able to choose exactly what we wanted, rather than having to choose from a specific list of vendors, that can happen at other venues. We wanted to have our own bar and food and have a proper dance floor that doesn’t need to stop at 11pm. It was fantastic to have the venue for a couple days either side of the wedding to prepare/pack-up, too. Other venues offer so little time, which people forget about or accept, but that time is just as important as the day itself; it’s part of the experience, and preparing the barn and getting everything ready was so fun and felt like it prolonged the anticipation of the wedding. The wedding day is over quickly so it was wonderful to have so many memories from a few days rather than one!
The Farmhouse is wonderful to stay in and amazing to be so close to the barn. It’s historic yet comfortable, beautifully styled without being overly manicured. Our guests loved staying here, and so did we. We are already talking about hiring it again in the future for a family get together, because you do feel so at home.
Lydia and Denis could not be more helpful or easy to work with. I planned the wedding myself so always had a lot of questions, & I really appreciated how quickly they got back to me without fail. They are really delightful people too! I can’t thank them enough for their attitude throughout and I always felt reassured. Wedding planning can be stressful but it should be fun, and they made it so easy. Their events manager and housekeeper were also lovely to work with and felt like a part of our family & friends on the day. Thank you so much!
