We honestly could not have chosen a more perfect place to get married than Poets House Hotel, and a bigger thank-you has to go to Sara and the entire team for making our wedding everything we dreamed of (and more).

From the very beginning, everything felt completely personalised. Sara truly listened to what we wanted, understood our vision straight away, and somehow turned it into a day that felt entirely us. Having everything all in one place made the whole experience seamless and relaxed — no running around, no stress, just excitement and joy.

We wanted a venue which had beautiful outside and inside space, which could accommodate guests who wanted to stay and have breakfast with us the next morning, and Poets House gave us all that, as well as stunning backdrops for our photographer to take the most amazing photos both around the hotel and a quick dash into Ely cathedral over the road and nearby park gave us the most fabulous photographs which we will cherish forever.

On the day itself, the team were nothing short of incredible. The staff were warm, calm, attentive and genuinely happy to be part of our celebration. Every littlei detail was taken care of before we even had a chance to think about it. We felt completely looked after, which meant we could just be present, soak it all in, and enjoy every second. Which we absolutely did.

What really stood out was how stress-free the entire experience was. Weddings are meant to be joyful — and thanks to Sara and the team, ours truly was. We felt supported, reassured and totally confident that everything was under control.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful. It is the backdrop to Ely Cathedral which makes it even more special. The rooms and honeymoon sweet and groomsman flat were decorated beautifully, making our day even more memorable.

Sara worked tirelessly to ensure everything was spot on for our big day and we cannot thank her enough for making it so special. Christine oversaw all the events leading up to the big day and ensured that anything we wanted was sorted. Sara, Christine and the team at Poets house were simply outstanding. Notwithstanding how amazing the food and service was on the night as well!

We chose The Poets House after walking around the area and being immediately impressed by how well‑presented the venue was and how warm and friendly the staff appeared. Throughout the planning process, nothing we asked for was ever too much trouble, and the team consistently made us feel at ease. On our wedding day, everything was delivered exactly as promised and even exceeded our expectations. The staff were attentive, approachable, and always ready to help with anything we needed. The bridal suite was beautifully presented and perfect for getting ready pictures - beautifully lit, spacious just perfect for those special pre-ceremonial moments. The atmosphere, service, and attention to detail all contributed to a truly memorable experience.

Our wedding at The Poets House was absolutely perfect. We needed a smaller venue at short notice and The Poets House were more than happy to help! The team went above and beyond. They let us have access to the venue the day before to set up, and helped out on the morning of the big day. Everything was just as we wanted, they made our day feel truly special. All our guests said how perfect the wedding venue was and everyone complimented the food! Sara was so patient with us, she also kindly reserving rooms for our guests should they need them. Our wedding was everything we hoped it would be and more, we enjoyed every minute of it, and the Poets House team played a huge part in this - nothing was too much trouble for them, right down to the Portuguese barman who was happily recommending places to visit in Lisbon on our honeymoon.

Our family in Ely were all planning future meals and drinks at the hotel as they were so impressed with the food and service.

We had our wedding reception at Poets House 🥳. I want to express my gratitude to the whole team at Poets, you guys were truly amazing and so so attentive and helpful. I have been planning all the wedding day details with Sara, Poets' events manager, for the past 15 months, and she was always so great at responding to emails quickly, answering ALLLLLL of my questions, sharing various ideas etc. Her manager, Christine, was always available too when needed. On the day itself everything went super smoothly as the Poets team was just incredible. They were able to anticipate our and our guests' every need, they handled any small unexpected hiccups swiftly etc. I absolutely love this cosy little venue, it is so so beautiful and classy and it was exactly the wedding vibe we were going for. I received so many compliments from all our guests about how beautiful the venue was. The wedding breakfast itself was delicious too, and the portions were huge! I wanted to separately mention another gentleman, Andres (I apologize for the spelling in advance), he was responsible for us from the start of the reception and until the very last minute - he was phenomenal, what a truly caring, professional, super attentive person. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH. IT WAS A MAGICAL DAY 🤩and we won't forget it. We will be coming back for a nice dinner for sure ❤🤩

My partner Sarah and I had our wedding reception here in June 2023. Christine and the team were brilliant in supporting our celebration. We had a present set menu and finger buffet for the evening alongside a beer and wine package which was exactly the right size for our smaller guest list by the afternoon and evening. Guests could order cocktails, softies and hot drinks from the bar which was popular guests of different ages.

The room backed out onto the garden which was cordened off for our privacy. This allowed our guests to play garden games and enjoy the sunshine.

The location was perfect as it allowed some of our guests to walk into town and explore some of the local sights like the river and cathedral before the evening food.

We have since been back for afternoon tea and it is one of the best in ely.

The venue was also very accessible for my mum who uses an electric wheelchair and the floor lips were perfect levels for easy entrance and exit from the building.

Christine and the whole staff at the Poets house were a welcome gift, they helped us plan the best day and were so willing and helpful to bring together all of our ideas and requests to make our wedding day a truly memorable one.

Right from the start Poets House catered for our every need, unlike other wedding venues Poets House, arranged everything the way we wanted it, with no 'set packages' to choose from.

The food, wine, garden, staff, table decorations, drinks & canapes looked & tasted fabulous, the flow of the day, with the use of the garden, could not have been better.

Christine & her team liaised with our photographer (Chris Boland) & our florist (Wild Clover) all I had to do, as the bride, was turn up & say 'I do' !!

Fabulous location, fabulous food & drinks, fabulous staff - I can't praise them enough !
