Sian and the team at the Rose and Crown hotel were truly amazing at helping making our wedding day outstanding. Sian and the staff are well organised, friendly, creative and professional. The venue was wonderfully decorated, the ceremony was spectacular, the wedding breakfast was extremely delicious and the evening was extraordinary. We are truly grateful for everyone working at the Rose and Crown who worked so hard to make it the wedding of our dreams.

I highly recommend the rose and crown as a wedding venu, it's a beautiful place and fantastic location. The staff went above and beyond from the moment we booked up until the day we left the hotel the day after the wedding. The rooms were lovely and the beds were ver comfy.
Excellent communication throughout out and staff were friendly and professional.
The food was exceptional and they set up the venu better than I could have imagined.
The wedding packages are very competitive prices and take away alot of the stress of planning a wedding.
The Dj was fantastic, excellent play list and got everyone up and dancing all night!
I would maybe suggest more bar staff for larger parties but they handled it brilliantly!

We were very happy with the level of service provided by the team within the R@C Colchester. We dealt with Sian and she was professional throughout, emails were always responded to within a few days and she made herself available for us to attend the venue when needed during our planning stages.
When looking for a venue as you can’t guarantee our weather we didn’t want somewhere with massive grounds, whilst it may look stunning for photos, if you can’t get outside it’s a waste of the extra costs. The beauty and detail of the R@C hotel is exceptional so all those stunning photos can be captured. As we had a large ceremony 120, and more in the evening we were worried the venue may have felt cramped, we didn’t need to worry, the ceremony space was set up for 120 with ease, we had an extra 30 guests in the evening and there was ample room for everyone to gather, sit and enjoy themselves. The canapés were fantastic. We opted for a hot evening buffet of curry and burgers, the food went down a treat and everyone said how delicious it was. Sian recommended we got less than we opted for, but we were worried there wouldn’t be enough food, unfortunately we had a bit of waste so should have went with Sian’s recommendation. The team on the day facilitating everything was amazing, they were attentive and responded to everyone’s needs. The in-house DJ Brian was fantastic and the dance floor was never empty. We had exclusive use of the venue, which I would 100% recommend as there was no concern having unknown people in the bar or the rooms. The booking team allowed me to direct exactly where each of my guests were staying in the venue and Rowena in reception helped with all my changes professionally.
The manager Ricardo made himself available with any concerns and promptly addressed a few things that cropped up during the booking stages.
You will not be disappointed holding a wedding here, the cost for hire, food and bar prices, we found really reasonable, especially in comparison to other venues.
Remember it’s only a 3 star hotel so expect that with the rooms, but all were well equipped to fulfil our needs, and all the rooms in the oldest part of the hotel were stunning for pre wedding getting ready photos.
The small garden area was great for getting those intimate wedding shots, if you really wanted you could also walk/ drive a few minutes up the road and have pictures in lower castle park or within the castle grounds.
We stayed the night pre our wedding and had all rooms the night of the wedding, the buffet and full English breakfast served in the bar on both mornings was full of choice, and all guests were served quickly.

Sian and her team went over and above to accommodate all our wishes, and helped make it the most perfect day ever. All our guests commented on how beautiful the venue was, and how delicious the food was. We couldn't have wishes for a better day!!

We had the perfect day. The staff are amazing, the venue is beautiful and the food is exceptional. Would definitely recommend.

After booking our wedding over 2 years ago we arrived to find the best man and groomsman's room not available this was arranged over two years in advance
Food service was very slow we were still eating when evening guests arrived and had to rush our meal
Massive queue and wait time at the bar as there wasn't enough staff
The DJ did not play the songs we had listed for the evening

We feel let down slightly on the day

We recently got married at the Rose and Crown and had the best evening! We chose to do a twilight wedding and it was just perfect, so laid back and relaxed - just what we wanted for our special day. Everything ran smoothly.
The canapés and buffet were brilliant. Service was great, the bar staff were kept very busy indeed but did such a good job, waitors all professional and friendly. The bridal suite is beautiful. Excellent value for money all round.
Had great communications with Sian the weddings manager, even a last minute dietary requirement which they dealt with and catered for! I would recommend this venue to anyone, it's beautiful - especially this time of year with the Christmas decorations up.
Also would recommend using their resident DJ (Brian Abbott) he got the disco spot on all night, kept everyone dancing.
A night we will always remember so thank you!

We had our wedding here and from start to finish it was amazing.The staff are fantastic and go out of there way to help you.Sian was brilliant making sure everything was perfect for us.The buffet food was amazing the pie selection and honey glazed sausages are still spoke about now and the breakfast was 10/10

We booked our Twilight with only 4 months to prepare. Our day was perfect it couldn’t have gone any better. The hotel looked beautiful and Sian was so helpful, the Buffet was amazing and all of our guests said how tasty the food was!!! The hotel rooms were lovely and clean. Our day was amazing from start to finish!! The best decision was to have our wedding at this gorgeous and amazing venue with such character and elegance. Sian at the rose and crown helped us create our dream day and she was so professional, friendly, attentive and just brilliant with everything, together with all her staff made our day the most perfect day that we will never forget!!!! I could not recommend enough!!! The venue and the staff here were amazing!!! Sian (manager) especially went above and beyond to make our wedding the best!!, and also Tatiana (reception manager) for being so helpful and attentive to all our guests staying in the hotel, not forgetting the chef and all the waiting staff, the food and beverages was to a great standard!!’ so to sum up this hotel and staff were simply the best!!! So thank you and hopefully see you next year for our anniversary x

We cannot recommend The Rose & Crown highly enough for a wedding!
The planning was so easy and they were so happy to accommodate everything we wanted, the food, timings, decorations, music, everything! And the price compared to other venues was outstanding.
The professionalism of the staff on the day was incredible. Everything ran so smoothly and all our of guests commented on how polite, friendly and accommodating the staff were.
We truly could not have asked for a better day, it was our dream come true from start to finish and we can't thank them enough.

Absolutely fantastic from the start of our wedding to the end, Sue is just amazing, nothing is too much trouble. Communication is fabulous and no question is stupid. Sue made the planning of our wedding so easy, we were able to talk through options, Sue gave advice but always kept in mind what our vision was.
The venue is beautiful and amazing value. Would totally recommend attending the open days. The Rose and Crown is a perfect venue for a beautiful wedding. We would not hesitate to recommend Sue Brown and her team. Our wedding was perfect and this is largely down to Sue.

From the first meeting with Sue, our wedding coordinator, to the wedding itself everything ran smoothly and made our special day exceptional. Sue and the team were helpful and friendly with a can do attitude.
The venue was stunning with beautiful decor,which added to the day. Our wedding package was tweaked due to the numbers of guests without a quibble.
The venue and team are highly recommended by both of us and looking back we wouldnt change a thing.

We had the most amazing day, everything run so smoothly and they knew my wedding plan and day plan better than ourselves.

Everything was fantastic, food was exceptional, evening buffet great and you most definitely get your monies worth.
