The former Scary Spice, real name Melanie Brown, confirmed her engagement to long-term partner and hairdresser Rory McPhee back in 2022.

The two reportedly met through mutual friends - including Mel’s cousin, actor Christian Cooke - and began dating several years ago.

Mel revealed on TODAY that Rory was a friend before he became her fiance: “He’s a family friend, great hairdresser.”

She went on to say: “So when I went back to England, he would come over and give me hair treatments and get my natural curls back. And as he was nurturing my curls back, I guess he was nurturing my trust and belief in a relationship.”

Fans of the singer were delighted when Rory McPhee and Mel B announced their engagement. Rory popped the question during a romantic stay at luxury Cliveden House in Berkshire, with a ring rumoured to be worth £100k.

He filled their hotel room with flowers, and brought along their dogs to be part of the moment. Mel revealed: “He did a whole spiel to me about me being his best friend. 

“I didn’t really listen to most of it because I was like, ‘He’s got down on one knee! Oh, my God! Wait, where are the dogs?’ It was just beautiful.”

Rory told Hello! Magazine that he was nervous pre-proposal: “I was so nervous, my lips were trembling.

“I'd spent ages writing down all these things I wanted to say, but when it came to it, I just babbled."
