Planning a wedding is no small feat, but there’s nothing like finding your dream venue to set you off on the right track. And that was the experience for Hannah and Matt who instantly fell head over heels for Grangefields, a charming barn venue in Derbyshire that made for the perfect backdrop for their special day.

We chatted to the happy couple about their big day, and unpacked all the dreamy details - from the Balinese-inspired reception room to their incredible venue team who helped bring all their ideas to life.

Saying ‘I Do’ to Grangefields

For some couples, the venue search can be lengthy - for others, it’s instant. Hannah and Matt viewed multiple venues during their search, but one stayed front-of-mind throughout.

"Grangefields was actually the first venue we visited in Derbyshire, and even after viewing five others, nothing compared. We knew it was the one for us," they said.

“The venue itself is stunning, with the perfect balance of rustic charm and modern style."

A key highlight was the beautiful setting of their wedding breakfast, which held a deeply personal connection for them.

"We got engaged in Bali, and the wedding breakfast room instantly reminded us of that with its metal framework, greenery and open airy feel," said the couple - but it wasn’t just the one space which made an impact. The ceremony room was equally impactful, and seeing it come to life on the day with the candles and flowers was a real magical moment for Hannah and Matt.

Getting Ready in Style: Grange House

The venue's dedicated getting-ready suites are always a huge draw, and Grangefields' newest addition proved to be a game-changer for this couple.

"Grange House was a brand-new space that opened just a few months before our big day, and it couldn’t have been more perfect," Hannah explains.

"It was ideal for me and my bridesmaids to get ready on-site that morning. There’s a stunning makeup room, a beautiful patio for photos, and plenty of space (and hooks!) for all our dresses. We even had fresh pastries and prosecco in the morning, which made for such a lovely, relaxed start to the day."

It’s no surprise Hannah loved it - the space was designed thoughtfully, allowing the wedding party to start the day in total comfort and luxury.

The Wedding Day Dream Team

A beautiful venue is one thing, but the support you receive from the team on the ground is what truly makes the difference. The couple were effusive in their praise for the staff at Grangefields. From the planning process to on-the-day support, Hannah and Matt felt supported from start to finish.

"The team were absolutely incredible - we couldn’t fault them! They were always so responsive, from patiently answering all my (probably endless!) questions, to scheduling extra meetings.

"On the day itself, we were looked after by Tim, who was just amazing. He made us feel completely at ease and went above and beyond to make the day special. I mentioned in the morning that I love Aperol Spritz, and right after our ceremony he greeted me with one which was such a thoughtful touch!

"He even worked with my bridesmaid behind the scenes to help pull off the perfect maid of honour speech, which ended with me singing Cher’s 'Believe' to all our guests - an unforgettable moment!"

Food, Family, and Fire Pits

When asked about their standout memories, Hannah and Matt’s thoughts instantly turned to the food and some special moments shared with family.

"One thing people still talk about to this day is the food - it was absolutely incredible! We had chicken for our main course and wood-fired pizzas in the evening, and everything was just so delicious.

"A really special moment was celebrating Matt’s grandma’s birthday on our wedding day. Tim made sure the cake we’d brought was brought out at the perfect time so everyone could sing to her - it was such a lovely, emotional touch and a memory we’ll treasure."

A Party to Remember

While the whole day was magical, the evening celebrations were where the venue truly came to life.

"Our DJ was fantastic, the dance floor was packed all night, and everyone was enjoying the photo booth too. The courtyard, with its fairy lights, fire pits and s’mores tasting station created such a beautiful, cozy setting. The venue truly came alive at night, with everyone celebrating together."

Their guests were equally impressed, raving not only about how stunning the venue was, but how well the day flowed, and, of course, the incredible food and service.

By giving the couple the freedom to decorate and personalise the space, Grangefields ensured the day reflected their unique style, culminating in the ultimate personal touch - that iconic, spontaneous performance of 'Believe' during the wedding breakfast!

It’s clear that for this happy couple, Grangefields wasn't just a backdrop; it was a partner in making their Derbyshire wedding day perfect.
